I previously had a HDD and the difference between that and this is night and day. Boot times way faster, downloading and uploading quick. And crucial have a software to transfer your data from an old drive to new which makes it so simple.
After putting it into my ps5 slim and it read the ssd, it has a higher read speed than the ps5 ssd itself, though I wished I went for the 2TB version as the 1TB version would quickly fill up due to the amount of games I’ll install but honestly this is just wow. It worked so good. 3days into using this ssd , I haven’t experienced any heating issues, it’s running smoothly and I love it soo much , definitely worth the money
This is my first M.2 drive so I can’t compare it to others but I am impressed. The speed-up going from a good SATA drive to this PCIE Gen 4.0 NVME drive is more substantial than I remember going from an AMD FX to a Ryzen CPU was. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade for the 80 I paid for it. On that note, if you’re on the fence, be aware that certain components used in M.2 drives are expected to undergo a shortage, marking an end to the SSD value hayday for the foreseeable future.
The rated speeds are accurate – comfortably over 7GB/s read speed, and write speed is almost the same. I assume temps are fine as I haven’t experienced any throttling. No issues so far after almost a month.
Had no issues – arrived on time and was packed safely enough. Only suggestion would be: it’s difficult to tell what the ‘heatsink’ part actually is/looks like for those who aren’t knowledgeable – would be nice if the packaging/paperwork in the box highlighted this, or at least in the company’s (Crucial) video, as I watched their installation on YouTube showing a thermal pad being affixed, which this was missing. I just assumed it was pre-fixed in the ‘With heatsink’ version I purchased and went on my merry way!
It worked without any issues though and swapping data/games over from console storage to the new m.2 (I crossed over a total of 250-odd gigabytes) was done in a couple of minutes. This was recommended to me by a friend and the reviews I read here were very reassuring. Happy to add to that, fingers crossed. I haven’t played any games off this m.2 yet to truly say how it performs but I expect (and hope) no issues in the future.
A black sheep of a purchase, great stuff.
I got this on sale and the P5 works just as expected. It was simple to install (took about 3 minutes). Worked first time and I use it for OS and steam games. Very quick boot up times and handles all the games we are using on steam. I got the version with the heatsink just for peace of mind. No complaints so far.
Had to come from Spain for some reason but only took a few days. But mostly I’m writing this here because I keep reading about people transferring games to this ssd to make room on the integrated PS5 storage. There’s really no reason to do this. Once the original storage is full, all proceeding installs will go to the expanded drive. Seing as it’s pretty much as fast as PS5 SSD, with definitely no discernable difference in game performance, I’d say it’s a waste of time to move files around.
To clarify: this drive isn’t just for using as an install dump – it runs games just as good, if not better, than the original PS5 storage so no need to mess around moving files around unnecessarily.
I’ll be honest, as impressive as the speed of the drive is, as a ‘normal’, perhaps power user of a PC I cant tell the difference between this and a standard SATA SSD in day to day use. I dont think the charts and graphs really mean anything once you get to a standard where even the cheaper option performs so well that it doesnt leave you twiddling your thumbs waiting for something to load.
I have this as my main C: for Windows, it’s fast enough, again, not much in the endgame that I wouldnt say felt similar to an SSD but it is what it is. I also got this for around 80 in a Black Friday deal, so obviously very happy. I do recommend if you need the speed, but Id also be interested in what exactly you need that much speed for!
If you can get a deal or can afford the RRP, go for it. You wont be disappointed.
This Gen4 M.2 has significantly improved my PS5’s performance. The speed is impressive, with games loading noticeably faster than before. I found the installation process to be straightforward, and the included heatsink was a thoughtful addition (especially at this price point). It took me around 5 minutes to set up.
I opted for the 2TB version at 95, and it’s proven to be a worthwhile investment. The increased storage capacity allows me to store more games without compromising on speed by using a normal SATA SSD restricted to USB 3.0 speeds.
In terms of performance, this SSD feels just as fast, if not faster than the original PS5 SSD. There is no noticable difference in both game load times and overall system responsiveness.
Overall, the Crucial P5 Plus is a fantastic upgrade for any PS5 owner looking to enhance their gaming experience. The combination of speed, easy installation, and value for money makes it a solid choice.
I finally bit the bullet and bought this to upgrade my ps5 storage. You get a full 1tb internal storage in addition to the standard 680gb or so left on the standard factory hdd.
Installation was easy with just a small screwdriver and then selecting format new hdd once turning the power back on. Within minutes I had transferred my gta and star wars games from my factory hdd and was able to install the spiderman 2 game that I did not have enough room for.
Now I can relax, play my games and download/install more at my leisure.
The factory hdd is too small for ps5 and that is why they made it easy to add and install an additional drive.
Money we’ll spe
Bought this to upgrade the storage on my PS5 and it does the job perfectly the read speed on the PS5 came in much lower than advertised but it seems all SSD’d get lower speeds from the PS5 test – whatever doesn’t matter the PS5 accepted it without giving me any warnings and I have since been filling it with games without issue 🙂 It transfers games onto it really fast and the games play from it exactly as they do from the standard drive, now I have an extra 2TB and for under 100 can not go wrong. If you are wondering weather or not the benefit is worth paying up for, it is! and I’m not a hardcore gamer but being able to have the choice of all your games ready available without any downloading just makes it a lot more enjoyable to jump in and play you know? you wont regret if you are thinking about it!
Well, if your looking for a fast SSD, this is your option. This thing will blitz loading times and boot times & read + write times.
If your an editor, gamer or anything of the sort that needs reliable fast storage…. This is for you!
It appears just like any normal SSD, maintaing excellent streamline quality of building that you would expect from Crucial and fits straight into an M.2 NVME PCIE port.
I’ve had no heating issues as of yet, and doubt I ever will. I don’t need a heatsink on top of it for gaming. Think that’s a bit excessive… Plus my fans cool it down just fine too.
If your in the market & especially if there is a black Friday/ any other sale on for this, I couldn’t reccomened enough buying it. You’ll love it and it’ll love you.
My Honor Magicbook x16 was in need of more storage, and the Black Friday price on this 2TB P5 Plus Gen4 was too good to resist. The Magicbook doesn’t have a reputation for being blisteringly fast so I got this mainly for the 2TB capacity upgrade, the original nvme had sequential read/write of about 3300/2500.
Very easy job to clone the original drive (I used Clonezilla as I dual boot Windows with Linux and have ext4 partitions), and then swap over. I had one of those thermal pads to use, (not sure if a heatsink would fit in my laptop), the thermal pad is flexible and squashes between the nvme and the case to conduct the heat away. It then booted back up and ready to go.
Really surprised and pleased to see this is now bench marked at Crucial’s advertised speed, highly recommended.
I have been using the Crucial P5 Plus 500GB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD for a few months now and I have been very impressed with it. I am a gamer and I also use my computer for video editing and other demanding tasks. The P5 Plus has been able to handle everything I throw at it with ease.
I have noticed a significant improvement in loading times for games and other applications. I am also able to transfer large files much faster than before. Overall, the P5 Plus has made my computer feel much faster and more responsive.
I have not had any problems with the P5 Plus so far. It has been running cool and reliably. I am also happy with the fact that it is a relatively affordable SSD.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Crucial P5 Plus 500GB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD to anyone who is looking for a fast and reliable storage solution. It is a great choice for gamers, creative professionals, and other users who need a high-performance SSD.
The SSD arrived on time and was well packaged. Installation was very easy and I had no issues at all. I have to say I am very impressed with the speed of this drive and now my Windows 11 pc boots in the blink of an eye. My only regret is that I didn’t get a bigger one! I would definitely recommend this drive 100%
UPDATE: I have now purchased another of these SSD drives but this time I went for the one with the heatsink. I’m not sure it will make much difference to my system as it runs fairly cool anyway to be fair but that said it can’t do any harm to have it. These drives are so fast. both SSDs were installed in no time at all into my PC and I have had zero issues so far. I’m very impressed!
UPDATE: I have now purchased a 3rd of these SSD drives to upgrade a brand-new laptop. The benchmark for my new laptop was let down by the Intel Optane M10 SSD which came as a surprise. These drives are fantastic in my opinion. I have seen reviews that state these drives should be faster, but I am more than happy with the results I’m getting. I think they are worth every penny.
I purchased this drive to replace an older Gen3x4 drive (Samsung Evo 960 Pro 250Gb). I was running out of space on my Windows drive and I always wanted a Gen4 drive. The price of nvme storage has been dropping quite nicely over the last 12 months, I got the 1Tb drive for around 50 quid.
I use the Acronis clone tool (downloaded from Crucial website) to clone my Samsung drive. I’d estimate it took around 20 minutes tops. I then swapped the drives over, rebooted and Windows loaded up fine without issue. I was also impressed the the drive space was already expanded into the available free space saved me doing that extra after the reboot. A quick crystal mark, and again impressive results, infact the read speed was actually a little faster than the drives quoted 6600Mb speed, as you can see in the attached images (last 2 tests I just ran SEQ1M which is why other results are the same).
All in an all a fast little drive, if you pc supports Gen4x4, definitely worth a purchase!
