I bought this for the xbox series x after watching a youtube racer called Matt Beardman. I enjoy the game but it is very challenging to control the car with a joy pad comapred to people who use a steering wheel.
But it is definitely worth buying it (when on sale).
For years now I’ve wanted a WRC game but all of them have fallen short of being genuine fun, look no further however!
I’m a casual player when it comes to racing games, so a wheel set up isn’t something I can achieve, controller is the only option. But, this isn’t a problem! A little tweak in the settings and you can have genuine fun with this game, the Rally3 Fiesta is a bundle of fun and for the edginess, the Rally1 cars deliver so much.
It’s a slight shame the updates aren’t the most exciting things in the world, but the game feels more than complete to go up through the ranks and become champion in each of the formulas.
I recommend getting it while it’s cheap, because it’s a steal!
I’m a massive fan of Codemasters and their rally games. This one looks and plays great most of the time, but has some serious flaws. The car selection is undeniably fantastic – anyone can find something interesting to drive for themselves. All official WRC events are here as well, including massive 30+km stages, which will take up upwards of 20 minutes to complete. The game looks good, but not as good as previous DIRT games, which is a shame. The single player career mode is bland and uninteresting, feels like an afterthought. I can’t imagine anyone sticking with it for long. At least there are online clubs to join or rotating challenges (Moments). The custom car builder quickly gets old – I found myself ignoring it after finishing one car.
The game feels half-baked, but it can still be enjoyable if you’re a rally fan. EA will probably want to make this a yearly franchise so the best we can do is wait and see if Codemasters will make the next one any better.
I’m on Xbox Series X using a Logitech G920, I’ve been playing driving games on PC and Console since Geoff Crammond’s F1, Mobil 1 Rally Chapionship and lots since. EA WRC has amazing graphics, nice frame rate, decent handling and a whole world of content. I’ve already spent about 80 hours in it and enjoyed it all. Possibly with the exception of the guy who keeps an eye on your team budget. He’s right…
I was excited to get this as I love Dirt 2.0. It definitely has the feel of that game. Some of the graphics are not as good, the cars on display when choosing a car don’t look as good as Dirt.
The scenery sometimes seems an improvement and other times not. I can’t decide if the car feels connected to the road/dirt as the previous game. At first it felt to me like it was skimming over the top of it and not quite as connected. It’s improved when I turned on some of the driver aids. It could be better though.
The biggest issue for me is that every so often the game pauses for a split second and then carries on, its like it’s loading something. This pause quite often puts me off mid flow in driving and can sometimes cause me to crash or fight with the car a bit once the game starts again and lose some time in the stage. I’m sure this can be improved with an update. Bare in mind I am running it on a Series X, so it could be worse on the slower XBox consoles.
It’s a great game and worth a purchase, I just hope they are aware of the issues and it’s fixed sooner rather than later with an update.
It’s a very good rally game. Great stages, great gameplay and good graphics. Only let down by screen tearing! If not for that, it would be a top rally game.
