Not as well as the smelly paraffin ones but they do work. They don’t burn as long. Only got these while I was waiting for some smelly ones to arrive. I will stick with the other sort but if you’re into ‘green’ stuff then use these they’re ok.

Really like these… No smell, last long time, produce decent amount of heat and are relatively easy to light as long as you light them on the edge with the lip.

…but I have to use 3-4 in my woodburner using tigs to start. I’ve ordered more as I like that they’re sustainable and they do work, but don’t think you’ll get away with just using one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the second time I’ve bought these lighters and will stick with them now. I was buying zip ones locally but they’re really smelly, hard to break and expensive. Even on Amazon they’re expensive. These work out much cheaper and I like the fact they are in separate chunks so are easy to use. They take slightly longer to light than the smelly ones so I use long matches but it’s not a problem. I find with three or four bits of kindling I only need one to start a log or coal fire (in a stove). Very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s the second time we bought theses, got a huge box second time, we only need 1 or 2 to start our log fire sothey are great value for money this huge box will last us ages. They are good for the environment, easy to light & set light to the log easy, I would recommend these to regular fire lighter as they do a better job, have no bad smells & are good for the environment, I was not sure but I’m sold now

I read the reviews for these firelighters which were good, but when they arrived I was not sure they would be up to the job, they are very small. However I should not have worried, they light everytime, I have tried with one firelighter and with two. Initially the firelighter is slow to ignite and it takes a while to get going but to date they have lit every fire. Very pleased with the price.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGot these to light a log burner stove, i have used this type of lighter before, for lighting bbq, and not really rated them, found them hard to light, and usually reverted to the old paraffin /wax type as they take no lighting, but smell awful. Thought I’d give these a try, bought a bag of 60 to start with, if i didn’t like them, no big loss. On opening the bag, for me, they have a smell of dog biscuits or something like that, they are not oily to touch. I use the top down method of lighting my stove, and only use one of these under the kindling, product write up and lots of reviews say to use 2 or 3,but i can’t understand the need to, i only use 1,and the kindling is burning well within a few minutes, the fire burning well within 15, never had a problem. All i have to say is that they take about 5 seconds to set alight with a gas lighter, a lot longer than the parrafin ones which light instantly, but that’s not a problem, but may be why some reviews say that they are hard to light, some people have no patience. As for how long they burn, obviously, when they are under the kindling, it’s impossible to tell, so i lit one on its own, and they burn for about 10 mins. I will be buying more, and recommend them, unless you can’t spare the 5 seconds it takes to light them.
