During the summer, I usually go on bike rides / trails with my mountain bike. This is absolutely perfect. It comes with a mounting frame and is relatively small. Does the job perfectly, and it’s cheap!
Great quality too.
Anyone who does long-distance biking knows you need to bring one, just-in-case. And this is the perfect size for just that, very light and compact and still able to give the PSI you need easily enough. It includes a handy frame mount to keep it tucked away on the bike out of your way and you don’t need to think about it until you need it. Great product.
At the current price (8) this is a great option.
The pump is almost large-coat-pocket size (I can just about get it into my regular cycling coat pocket) or easily mounted using the supplied kit (and is held in place securely when mounted – I haven’t had a drop-off yet).
The pumping is exactly as it should be – not as quick as a foot pump/floor-standing pump but for out on the road to fix a puncture this is remarkably good and can get enough air in to get you home (I haven’t tested how high a PSI it can get to (there’s obviously no gauge either)) but it’s enough for saving you out on the road/hills.
Competitively priced too – so in summary, nothing to complain about from me with this pump.
Positives
+ Small and Handy
+ Bracket for attaching to the bike frame
+ Works with Presta or a Schrader valve
+ Good option for a spare football pump
Negatives
– There are better (more efficient) pumps, but probably not for the same price!!
The Frame Mounted Mini Bike Pump is a handy tool for cyclists, blending portability with functionality. Let’s delve into its various features:
Mounting and Portability: The pump’s ease of attachment to the bicycle frame is a notable feature. It comes with the necessary fixings, making the installation process straightforward. Its compact size enhances its portability, making it a convenient accessory for on-the-go adjustments.
Ease of Use: Operating the pump is relatively simple, though it does require a bit of preparation. Reading the instructions is essential, as the pump parts need rearranging depending on the valve type. It’s compatible with both Presta and Schrader valves, but users must manually configure the parts, which might be a minor inconvenience.
Efficiency and Performance: While the pump effectively inflates tires, its efficiency is somewhat limited. It takes a considerable amount of time to pump up an adult bike tire, which might be a drawback for those seeking quick inflation. However, it performs better with smaller tires, such as those on kids’ bikes.
Durability: The build quality of the pump is satisfactory. It seems durable enough for regular use, provided it’s not handled too roughly. Its construction is robust enough to withstand the demands of typical cycling scenarios.
Overall Experience: The mini bike pump does its job well, despite the time it takes to inflate larger tires. Its compactness and ease of use are major pluses, especially for cyclists who need a reliable, portable pump for emergencies or routine tire maintenance.
In conclusion, this Frame Mounted Mini Bike Pump is a worthwhile investment for cyclists who value convenience and portability. While it may not be the quickest at inflating tires, its functionality and ease of use make it a practical tool for regular cyclists.
I’m a keen cyclist and although I was doubtful a cheap pump like this could do the job I put it into my backpack and brought it with me.
Though it’s made of plastic it has a nice quality of build, it feels well made. When fully extended the handle only has a few mm of movement side to side. The pumping action feels robust and though the stroke is short I felt my confidence in this pump growing.
It comes with a clamp that holds the body and stops the pump handle moving when fitted correctly, it does fit into it snugly. I decided not to attach it to my frame – mainly due to a fear of of it rattling off if I hit too many bumps but I think it would be fine for the average cycle journey. However the weight in my backpack is not noticeable at all. The only thing I had to do was change the rubber stem in the pump around for Presta valves this was the only prep I needed to do – this is done by unscrewing the housing and fishing out the rubber bung and turning it around.
Though I do normally carry a co2 pump with me for emergencies I actually found myself needing to use the pump in the wild. I have to say it performed admirably and although the pressures for my bike are not as high as a road bike it got to what felt like the right pressure without too much of a struggle.
The only downside of this pump is the pumping length, which means you have to pump quite a bit to get to pressure. However for under 7 this pump is an absolute bargain and I am very pleased with everything about it. The construction, the feel, the weight and the practicality of it are all top notch.
I thought Betron were the guys who make budget but quality headphonesIt turns out they’re making bike pumps too! And not half bad ones.
This is probably as cheap as you can get a budget pump. But I really like it and it does the job very well.
It’s made of plastic, so it’s lightweight, but seems sturdy enough. It’s also small and portable. The mount that comes with it is universal and fits most bikes. I like that it has a secure bolt for the upper part of the pump – so it doesn’t open while cycling.
You can inflate a presta or a Schrader valve with this little thing. There’s a simple way to switch it around – I’ve had a similar pump before so I knew it already.
For its size, it works surprisingly well. You get quite a bit of pressure out of it. Of course it won’t be as good as a full-size track pump or an electric one. But this is an emergency device you take with you on your bike trip, to aid you in need. And that means as small and lightweight as it can be, but still functional. And it definitely delivers.
One strange thing that another reviewer also noticed – the lever for securing the connection needs to be downwards for mounting and then pulled up for pumping. I could swear it’s always been the other way around
For 7 I’m happy to recommend that pump to anyone. It’s great to attach to the bike or in your backpack, where it will use minimal space. It allows you to inflate the tire to a very decent level and without a huge effort. I will use it with my other bike which has presta valves. Very happy to recommend.
Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
Works extremely well for such a small piece of equipment. I tested this against a mountain bike tyre which was near flat and it was inflated after 25-35 pumps. It’s small so will take longer, but for emergency use it’s perfect.
Screws and bracket are provided, which will sit perfectly where the bottle carrier would sit. Though if like me you don’t have that, the alternate I found was to use some cable ties around the bracket holes. These where enough to secure it to the bike frame.
The pump itself, clips on and off from the bracket.
Just be advised, as per the picture, where the light grey valve lever is closed against the pump is the open position to attach to the tyre valve. You then pull the level open to secure it and create an air tight seal to then start pumping. I thought it would have been the other way round.
Works just as you’d expect from a normal bike pump.
Easy enough to hook up to the tyre valve and pump air into.
Would have been great to get a small gauge on the side to know the pressure inflated into the tyre.
The changing of the adapter around is a little fiddly but don’t think you’d need to do this that often if you have your set valves anyhow.
