First impressions are that the waistcoat itself is a “snug fit”, and that’s with going one size bigger than usual. With the battery in place, it gets even snugger, and if you have bulky clothes beneath, suggest you go two sizes bigger. This is because when the heating coils are pressed tightly against your body, the heating becomes uncomfortably “artificial”. The placement of the heating coils are a bit hit and miss, so take the illustrations as a “serving suggestion” only. Any significantly larger battery will get hot simply because it will have a front element directly over it, so stick to smaller 10k battery packs. The switches are easy to operate, dual zone, and efficient, even if they do light you up like Joe90, but in an indoor environment, the low setting is quite enough to stay comfortable. Included is a “wash bag”, which is a nice touch. Typing this, I’ve unzipped it, and I’m cycling the low setting on and off (back only) as needed, my hands are now warm, and I’m one happy bunny. Worth it ? — certainly. The power pack is interchangeable with other similar products, so all you’re risking is 20 to keep you warm in winter. Recommended.
This arrived the day after we ordered it and was just what we wanted. It is efficient and lightweight. When the cold weather comes it will be ideal for sitting in the house when the heating goes off and for walking in the crisp winter sunshine.
