This item needs to be assembled lots of nuts and bolts but once its together it is a huge sieve, I put my soil and grass seed in it and it spreads really evenly, not a weedy product has some weight to it. easy to use.
I bought this as a gift for hubby when he mentioned he would like one. He was thrilled and although it hasn’t had much use just yet, his first go over the balding grass worked really well.
The GiantexUK 27” Compost Spreader is a fantastic addition to my gardening tools. It’s a robust, well-designed product that significantly simplifies the process of spreading compost, peat moss, seeds, manure, and fertiliser in the garden.
Positive Aspects:
1. The U-shaped handle is a standout feature, providing a comfortable grip and making the spreader easy to manoeuvre.
2. The heavy-duty metal mesh is another highlight. It’s durable and ensures even spreading of materials, which is crucial for effective gardening.
3. The side clasps are a thoughtful addition, making it easy to secure and release the compost or other materials.
4. The 27” size is perfect, not too big to handle, yet large enough to cover a decent area in one go.
Areas for Improvement:
1. While the metal mesh is sturdy, it can be a bit challenging to clean after use. A non-stick coating or similar feature could make the cleaning process easier.
2. The spreader is quite heavy, which might be an issue for some users. A lighter design without compromising on durability would be appreciated.
3. The instructions provided could be clearer. More detailed assembly and usage guidelines would be beneficial for first-time users.
In conclusion, this compost spreader is a reliable, efficient tool that makes garden maintenance easier. Despite a few minor issues, it’s a worthwhile investment for any gardening enthusiast.
I used this to place a thin layer of compost ontop of grass seed in a large area. Was so much easier than spreading by hand.
Easy to empty a 60L compost bag directly into the spreader. The clasps work well to keep the lid closed.
A 500m2 area by hand took 20x60L bags of compost and all day to spread. Another 500m2 area using this spreader took only 10 bags and around an hour.
Definately recommend.
