Easy to use can do the job perfectly it totally fit the purpose it was made for, small in size to be stored.
am a single person who wanted to prepare the food mom used to do so yes I like it.
Great meat grinder. Used it number of times and so far very pleased. It has enough power do grind through tougher meat cuts without any issues. It is loud but this is to be expected. You can use it for stuffing but from my experience it would be better to use manual stuffer as you get better control and also you do not put the meat through additional grinding, as this is what happens with electric stuffers.
I also wished it came with one more attachment, 3 hole cutting plate – for thicker cuts. I am yet to see if these can be sourced somewhere, Kenwood does not sell them.
Great for grinding, not so much for stuffing if you want thicker pieces in your sausages.
Needed a mincer to make raw dog food. Whilst it’s not made for bones, it takes chicken carcass well. You have a standard chute so have to chop up the carcass, but the motor handles them easily.
Bought to mince chicken wings for the dogs’ BARF diet. (I grind tips and pre-tips and smaller whole wings.) This machine copes very well, no blockages and does it quickly and efficiently.
I bought this mincer for the name. Well made and powerful. Only point to make is that for sausage making I still think the plunger/piston type sausage machines are by far the best as the mincer retains a lot of meet in the screw assembly which is then wasted, this doesn’t happen with piston type sausage machines but as I say this is still a first class mincer which I suspect could well be suitable for commercial used.
This is a sturdy meat grinder. I’ve had it for a few weeks. It does a good job with coarse grinding but meat gets stuck if you try a fine grind.
My parents have had a kenwood mincer for years, I finally got one last week and I’m beyond pleased with it! Yes it’s a bit noisy but nothing outrageous.. I think it’s a staple piece of equipment for every kitchen. If you want to mince meats, chicken and fish this is your best friend!
Bought this in lockdown for a bit of fun, really loved making sausages! Made a few batches so far, machine has worked really well. Found it very easy to use and set up, pretty sturdy. The parts all seem pretty decent quality and stack/store pretty well. In terms of a couple of draw backs preventing 5 stars; could perhaps be heavier to offset the balance when using it, nearly tipped over a couple of times, would be good to have multi speed functions, and would be so much better if the detachable parts were dishwasher proof
Works well and does what it should. The feed tube pusher is used to store funnels etc which is not a good idea as it is not watertight for washing.
It’s a bit of a fiddle to use but it works very well. I was advised to put the working parts in the freezer and have done and the mince is always nice.
No plastic in sight on the working parts of this mincer, feels like it should last forever with domestic use. Good selection of tools for mincing and sausage making, good steady flow for the latter. Only criticism is that it is quite noisy.
This is a great bit of kit for home use. Being a butcher I like to make my own burgers and sausages art home. This little mincer works a treat. I process 15 – 20Kg of product every few months. You have to feed it slowly as the mincer throat is quite narrow and the motor slows down quite a bit when it’s grinding product. If you are mincing diced meat or strips of meat use the coarse plate first and the fine plate second.
Tend to struggle with bigger chicken bones like drumstick ‘ bone (wouldn’t suggest) but has no problem with a poussin if properly chopped. We use it to make cat food once a month or so, we are satisfied enough.
My first experience with cooked meat was good. But second time I used fresh meat. And I am not happy with result. Looks like i have to put meat without any kine of fat. I was using pork neck. And machine stops few times. To start up machine again all that times was required to take all parts out, clean , set up again, and again and again. If i have to clean the meat from any kind of fat. Question: Maybe better manual meat grinder? Noise level very high. I read about noise before, and now I trust to previous reviews .
This is the first meat grinder I have ever owned, as I was always apprehensive of getting involved. Thus product made it a breeze. Not only did I grind my own venison meat, I even made my own sausages. The motor is powerful and makes short work of the grinding process. I used the coarse plate as I was worried a smaller plate would perhaps clog, but there was no problem whatsoever. I then progressively went on to smaller plates and the grinder performed flawlessly. The motor is a bit noisy, as others have said, but the work is over so quickly, it does not really matter. I am very pleased.
This is the 2nd meat mincer i bought
First one stays with me for 8 years but this one only 4 month. I bought it on December 2022 and it’s stopped working yesterday. I used it only 5 times .
I think it’s a manufacture fault and i will asked for refund my money back
I have just made my first batch of sausages!
Like all Kenwood kitchen machines this one is well made; I am the proud owner of a Major Chef circa 1954.
Once all the parts have been removed from the box I would recommend a trial assembly to see how they fit together. Wash all the parts and dry, remember to oil the carbon steel mincing disks with vegetable cooking oil before wrapping and putting away.
Sausage making is fairly easy once the initial panic of not quite knowing what is going to happen! I used 1kg of pork shoulder plus herbs and spices. The Sausage Book written by Paul Peacock gives a lot of recipes and tips and well worth reading before you start.
After use dissemble the machine, clean and wash all the parts and spray with an antibacterial cleaner and leave to dry.
The whole operation took about 45 minutes and I have a tray-full of lovely Lincolnshire sausages Yumyum!
6 days delivery to Bulgaria, very good. Excellent machine, had no problems with jamming as some others have. It is very noisy but then it’s a powerful motor. Maybe those that had mince come out mushy had the blade in the wrong way round. Ensure the cutting blades point to the outside of the mincer …. no that obvious from the diagram. Cut the meat into 1″ cubes. Didn’t have to push the meat in, it pulled it in and minced it very quickly. Looking forward to making sausages when I get some skins.
DECIDED TO BUY A MINCER TO ENSURE FRESHNESS OF MEAT USED FOR ALL RECIPES.THIS IS EASY TO USE AND DIFFERENT GRADES MEANS YOU CHOOSE THE DENSITY OF MINCED PRODUCT.MADE SAUSAGES FOR THE 1ST TIME EVER.EASY EASY.BOUGHT THE CASINGS FROM LOCAL BUTCHER ( WE LIVE IN CYPRUS )TASTED SO DIFERENT FROM THE SHOP BOUGHT PRODUCTS. I AGREE ABOUT MEAT GETTING STUCK BUT WILL TRY TO DO WHAT WAS SUGGESTED BY LEAVING CASING ON AND PUSHING MEAT THROUGH.OTHERWISE HAPPY WITH THE KENWOOD.WASHING A BIT BIT FIDDLY.BUT VERY MINOR NIGGLES.BUY THIS PRODUCT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.THANKS TO AMAZON I CAN ORDER PRODUCTS AND APPROX 48 HOURS LATER I AM USING THEM. AS SAID BEFORE WE LIVE IN CYPRUS.SO WELL DONE TO AMAZON AND U.P.S. (COURIER CYPRUS)
If you want to stuff sausages I would recommend getting a proper sausage stuffer. If you want to grind meat or vegetables – you should get one of these. It is not too noisy as some reviews say (you won’t get a silent grinder, the same as you won’t get a quietly running Harley Davidson) but it is bulky. Grinds perfectly on different settings (tried all of them) and does not overheat. It is sturdy and really does the job. The only problem is with the sausage stuffer – the minced meat does not go easily through the feeder and has tendency to flow out from the sides of the feeder – very frustrating. Otherwise a great grinder.
Which is mince up the meat for my raw cat food.
This mincer was purchased to replace a cheaper model which packed in after one use. The difference in quality was noticeable the minute it came out of the box. It feels so much sturdier.
The motor also has a good solid sound to it and actually feels more powerful than the 200 watt higher item that broke down.
I haven’t yet ground any bones in it yet although a friend with the same machine does so every week and advices that it does the job just fine.
I can’t see me ever using the sausage facility but, if I do, I will edit this review.
I am delighted with this mincer and am glad I spent the (not a lot once delivery is added) extra to get this named branded item. There are simply some kitchen items where it does pay – in the long run – to go with a company who you know has a reputation for good quality and reliability.
Delivery was ahead of schedule by UPS and was in perfect condition. I would note however that it was delivered in the display box without exterior packaging.
Whilst I have given the machine a five star rating which it deserves it has a very poor instruction leaflet. You would have thought a company like Kenwood could do better than this. My primary reason for the purchase was to produce my own sausages and the level of information on this in the instruction book is very poor. Below are some tips that I can share on its use for producing sausages.
1. First ensure you have the right tools to clean it afterwards otherwise it is a nightmare as you cant put the parts in the dishwasher. I use a bottle brush, a test tube brush and a nail brush with these I can clean the whole thing in about 10 minutes. I dry the metal parts with paper towel then put them on top of the oven to ensure they are completely dry then spray with vegetable oil and store in a plastic bag.
2. Before using assemble the grinder attachment and put it in the freezer (not the motor) for an hour or two. The grinder can get hot and this discolours the meat. If it starts off very cold this does not happen.
3. Chop your meat beforehand and put it in the freezer until the temperature is just above freezing. Separate the fat and cut into very small pieces. It is very important that the fat is very cold almost freezing.
4. Grind your meat, add your seasonings then return to the freezer for half an hour so that again it is cold.(not frozen)
5. I prefer the English “banger” style sausages so I use a 32mm cassein casing from Tongmaster on Amazon, these fit the largest stuffing nozzle.
6. The small cutting screen struggles with pork. Would not recommend using it.
7. Assemble the sausage attachment and load with casing and put your ground meat into the hopper. It is useful if you can get someone to keep pushing the meat down in the hopper as I find it is a two handed job to control the stuffing process.
8. If you prefer “chipolata” style sausages I made some without using casings just lightly coating in flour as they were extruded.
9. You get some meat left in the nozzle when the screw drive is empty, I put some breadcrumbs in at the end so that the remaining meat is forced through.
10. I have found that the sausages are best left in the fridge for 24 hours before cooking or freezing as the taste from the seasonings seems to develop better.
So far I have used turkey, beef, pork and chicken all with success.
The grinder can be a little noisy when it is under a load (sounds like a vacuum cleaner), pork seems to be the worst.
I wanted a meat grinder to mince cooked and fresh meat. Have only used it for cooked meat once and was delighted with the
result. I have had and old fashioned hand grinder since I was first married 54 years ago and would say the MG510 far surpasses
the manual. I needed something as I suffer with arthritis in my hands and find the old one difficult to operate, what a boon this
modern electric one is for someone like me. Highly reccomend to anyone who wants a grinder, I personaly won’t be making sausages we very rarely eat them, as for noise I did not find it noisy just the normal noise one would expect from a motorised
machine.
After checking out reviews for a lot of machines i decided to go with this Kenwood. I am more than happy with my choice. Dispatch was amazingly quick (arrived 2 days after dispatch).
Build quality is great, with a nice full metal body unlike a lot of cheap plastic machines is very easy to keep clean and is very sturdy.
I have so far minced several pounds of pork which was done very quickly with no issues at all.
Sausage making worked like a charm. Not the quickest sausage maker, but for domestic use more than adequate.
I made several strings of homemade sausage which taste delicious and i know exactly whats in them unlike shop bought ones. And my friends and family are happy with the end product aswell 🙂
Machine building, break down and cleaning again has no issues. All parts are solid and well made and come apart very easily. Stripping down from mincer to sausage making takes literally a matter of seconds.
I can not think of any cons for this machine and think if your looking for a good, well built machine with metal parts not plastic, its worth spending that little bit more for a machine that will last and this Kenwood for me fits the bill.
I bought this grinder after reading reviews from many pet food related websites as I wanted to make a complete BARF diet for my cats and need a strong grinder to grind chicken bones.
I am very impress with this machine, it grinds chicken & rabbit bone and with ease! It didn’t jam at all.
Previous reviews said the meat was too “mushy”, this is because they use a smaller plates. There are 3 plates with different sizes holes, the largest one is prefect for meat, I use this to grind the bone, then change the plate with a smaller hole and put the bone (now is a mixture) through the second time to grind down into smaller pieces.
This machine is quite loud, but the grinder from the butcher is just as loud so this isn’t an issue. It is easy to take apart and clean. I haven’t try the sausage tube but I am sure it will be pretty good!
I’ve been looking for a good and powrful meat mincer for ages, something similar to the ‘National’ one which my mum has got. She’s been using it for over 20 years now. Sadly they’re not available in the UK. last year I got a cheap one (brand ZOOM)which I thew away after I stupidly washed it in the dishwasher!
Then I started looking for any meat mincer that is made of stainless steal and got all the accessories I need to make Kebbe (from oriental cuisine). I finally found this in a reasonable price! and it does the job.
PROS :
it’s powerful
needs smaller space than the regular mincers
Stainless steel mincer screens
got all the accessories I need.
CONS:
the only negative point so far, it has that it’s not competely stable, you need to be careful when you’re using the plastic feed tube pusher. That doesnt mean it’s not good or it’s dangerous!! but I want to be honest, that happened a few times when I was pushing the (wheat and meat) mixture hardly down the mincer tube.
P.S please dont put it in the dishwasher.
