Seriously, you’d be surprised how many people appear to be shocked that this isn’t going to be a functional camera once built. I kid you not…

That aside, I’m not usually one to go for this particular Lego range. After all, it’s not like you can really play with it or add it to an existing set. I suppose you could, in theory, set it on Lego fire and get the Lego firemen to deal with it but it’s really more of a display item.

However, this is a very faithful replica of a camera I am young enough to not have been born when this was being launched and old enough to have to explain to the kids, in world-weary tones, that not everything used to be done on phones. Just imagine their gobsmacked little faces when I tell them I used to have to dial numbers using a rotary – they still can’t get their heads around Blockbuster being a thing…

Anywho, another tricky but satisfying build with a real sense of accomplishment once finished and it’s going to look great on display. Instructions are clear and pretty easy to follow, although there are a lot of steps and I don’t always follow visuals that well (I can get the piece orientation mixed up). Whilst this isn’t my usual thing when it comes to Lego, I really like this and it looks impressive. I’ve no doubt in years to come it’ll become something of a collector’s piece but right now it’s not unreasonably priced, considering it’s Lego, and it’s enjoyable to build.

This is a great Lego kit, with a lot of great pieces for your Lego collection. It isn’t that hard to make, and it doesn’t have that many pieces, but it is an enjoyable thing to build. The finished camera wouldn’t look out of place on a shelf or in a living room, it doesn’t scream Lego’, it is almost classier than your typical Lego.

You get your usual few spare pieces, and the usual instructions that are as easy to understand as always. It says 18+, but really anyone older than 13 could do this set.

A great gift, up to the usual high Lego standards, and great fun to play with!

I love this lego set, it’s the perfect kind of lego piece for a shelf. It’s a medium sized build I’d say, a decent number of pieces to keep you busy but by no means a mammoth project. It’s even functional, you put your photo in, press the button and it’ll pop out. The assortment of pieces from the camera to the photos to the storage container make for a really nice display if arranged properly. Definitely catered to adults, a really wonderful kit.

This set creates the classic camera which such attention to detail it is like holding the real one even though it is made from LEGO bricks.

Pudding the pieces together was something that I really enjoyed especially because of the design that I had to build.

As someone like me who loves both photography and Lego, this project was really interesting starting from the assembling process which was engaging(with the help of the instruction manual) especially when I have seen the final result which is great.

This looks very similar to the original Polaroid camera and I love it.

This one was for me. I love the style of this lego set it has a view to the adult market but its build quality, mechanical element and style really hit the mark. It features everything that Lego is known for, great instructions clear diagram and a good fun build. The end model is great, slip in the film press the shutter and out pops your “picture” to develop, reminiscent of the actual polaroid camera. its fantastic!

This is the first lego set I’ve gotten since I was about 10 years old, so it’s been such a long time I don’t remember much other than all my bricks being slightly dirty and caked with grime. This polaroid set has been such an incredible experience. The pieces are clean and feel so high quality, they snap together way better than I remember and overall this has been a challenging task but incredibly fun. I’ve never had a polaroid camera, but from looking up the model name on the box it does look JUST like one!

I guess this is something of a niche product as it’s clearly not a child’s model/toy and is aimed firmly at retro adult fans of both LEGO and photography. If that’s you then this is the set for you! Superb quality as you’d expect from LEGO with clear instructions and a very cool product.

I couldn’t be more impressed with this LEGO Ideas Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera! It was a fiddly but fun build and the end result is just fantastic!!

The build is in four parts and though the end result isn’t huge there is a lot that goes into the build because the button to shoot a photo actually works!
The instructions were clear, but the internal mechanics were a little fiddly and I did end up missing a vital part and had to go back and redo it a few steps later. Thankfully was easy enough to do though.
Despite so many of the pieces being tiny it was a fun build because I couldn’t quite work out how it was going to work until it did.

The end result is beautiful! It looks so much like the camera AND it works well kind of.
You can look through the view finder and see out which is cool but the best part is the fact you can load a photo in, press the button and it pops out!!
I did find the side and back pieces are a little less sturdy than the rest of the build though so it’s definitely not something you can play too much, but if they do come off they easily slot back in.

Overall I think this is my favourite Lego set I’ve ever had! I’m blown away by how it works and it’s something I’d definitely recommend.

This can be highly recommended for anyone who is a fan of the old Polaroid Onestep Camera. It’s a technical build, a little different from my other Lego projects, I did find it quite tasking but boy what an amazing build! You are building from the inside out, but it is a joy!
The finished project is so realistic, the working parts I just love!
There were a few minor things that I found a tad annoying. The back panels are a little fragile and can fall off when building and it took me a while to get it back on again. The pop-out function didn’t quite work so I had to take it apart and rebuild a bit, I should have tested slightly earlier than when I did but we got there in the end, novice error..
I think Lego did a great job with one!

So this is for nostalgic fans of the good old polaroid camera. This is a 516 piece tribute to it which has a mechanism to eject a mock lego photo when you press the button.

Its very authentic to the original design and is intended for adults rather than being a toy.

On plus side it looks great and has a few little extra touches to make it realistic. In general the instruction booklet and numbered bags of pieces is easy to follow. There is one gotcha that the sliding mechanism must be on the correct side of the spring loaded arm or it wont work to eject the photo when fully assembled – learnt that the hard way (around step 110)

Negatives: It is quite fragile and with normal handling some pieces can start to come away which can be annoying to rebuild as you sometimes have to take other bits off to re-attach. I would say this is something that is displayed on a shelf and not a toy for kids.

It’s quite expensive but great fun to build and will appeal to anyone who loves Lego or cameras, as this is obviously one of the famous brands and designs. (P.S. it doesn’t take actual photos 🙂 )

At 600+ pieces it’s not the largest construction but has some nice touches.
Once completed you have a replica of the camera itself and the film pack and three mock photos from the Lego world, one of their headquarters building, the guy who developed the camera itself and someone associated with the person who came up with the idea for this Lego (Idea) project. The photos can be pushed into the camera at the front and the action button that you build as part of the kit can then be pressed to release the photo, as if you had just taken it.

The build itself looks quite complicated, the pieces are split into 4 main paper bags containing the various pieces. Some still have smaller plastic bags inside. You will construct the frame of the camera and apply stickers but also the cogs and rotary mechanism inside it that pushes the mock photos out at the front too.

This was meant for adults or anyone who may want to display the finished article really and is a nice addition to your collection (of cameras or of Lego).

I absolutely love Lego and have been building Lego kits for years
When my children came along I built with them too, I love this one due to the fact that it is a vintage model and a bit of a challenge, the finished model looks brilliant with expected quality of Lego,
The instructions are easy to read and easy to follow,
I am really happy with this kit, and I would recommend

Disclosure time: I’m an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego) so I can’t deny this review will have a positive bias.
But if you ask any Lego fan, young or old, experienced or newbie, there’s a good chance you’ll get the same happy response. So why is that?

What’s so special about Lego when compared to other construction toys ? Especially given this isn’t a cheap toy and the parts count (516) is quite low. Well the answer is simple, it’s the quality.

From how well the bricks clip together (what’s called the clutch power), bright and vibrant colours, design, to the instructions. Unlike cheap kits which suffer from poor clutch power or incostient colours.
With “proper” lego you get consistency. A consistency which means this kit can still work Lego bricks from the 1960’s.

And it’s not only the physical aspect of Lego that comes with a list of good things. It’s how brilliant it makes you feel while you play with it. Be that with friends, family or alone. It relives stress and promotes mindfulness, teaches you to be creative and encourages problem solving. And it’s not just mental stimulation that playing with Lego can do.

It can also help build physical skills, such as improving motor skills and dexterity. This set is no different in those respects and it certainly won’t disappoint you. Indeed it has several standout points that makes this one especially brilliant.

Load one of 3 plastic “Polaroid” picture into the camera, press the button and watch it pop out of the front slot and “develop”. Just like with the real thing, you can see through the viewfinder.
There’s even a box to store your prints. Best of all it’s going to look really good when placed next to the 2024 Lego retro camera!

5.0 out of 5 stars Picture Perfect!
