Easy to take on holiday and make sure your phone connects to whatever audio system is supplied at the caravan or holiday home. Don’t need to think on navigating menus, just plug in and reconnect your phone and picks up easily. Just remember to remove it and take home.

MaedHawk Car Bluetooth 5.3 AUX Adapter, Mini Bluetooth 5.3 Receiver AUX Bluetooth

Arrives in small box and then when you open it you realise how small the actual device is. The adapter is smaller than the USB C cable supplied wrapped up. Charging has the usual red light and then a blue light to say fully charged and ready to use.

Connection is easy and blue & red light show it is ready to receive a signal. The name is as stated in the instructions and once done, that’s it. Took on holiday and as soon as powered on and connected to the caravan stereo, phone music went straight on. Did try with iPhone and Android to switch between and over the weekend, each phone connected ok and sound went through no issues to the stereo. Did try the separate app setting in the phone and was working well to stream music only and not mobile games.

As it was close to a TV, did run the USB cable off the TV and charge the adapter while in use and this worked with no issues. So either a normal adapter or TV USB socket will work.

I think this is a really handy device for holiday use that you can guarantee that your phone will have something to connect to and not have to worry about messing someone’s setup or what you are connecting to.

Most systems will have an aux connection and it just works really well….even more so through a sound-bar that its a fast setup and no cables.

This is a great bluetooth to aux device that will turn any device into a wireless bluetooth audio transmitter.

It’s a simple device that works really well, it’s usb c and it will fully charge in around 2 hours, giving you around 6 hours of playback time.

I personally use this in my car, as the car I’m driving now doesn’t have any sort of phone connection to it, it does however have an aux port, sadly my phone doesn’t have an audio jack so this device is the perfect solution.

It’s important to note that it also has a mic, so you can answer calls and transmit all the audio through the speakers, this device will basically make my car be a lot smarter, my phone just connects to it straight away and i can answer calls through it.

It’s surprisingly small and compact too, around 5cm, considering what it can do, it’s really compact and just works everytime.

The product description picture and the box give the impression that there are two units inside, but it is a single-unit product.
The sound quality is good and it is very light. I mentioned the weight because I am using this to convert my wired headsets into wireless ones.
The only thing is that the power indicator is under the small power button so it isn’t easy to check whether the device is powered off because you have to block the whole button to press it. The LED itself isn’t too bright either.
The design is nice and the metallic shell gives it a sturdy, premium look and feel. Good value too.

Having an older computer, there is no built in blue tooth connection, and if there was it would be a really outdated connection standard!

This adapter plugs into the ‘aux in’ port on the control module for my Phillips desktop speakers. It arrived with 90% charge so could be used straight away. Connected to the Bluetooth on my phone without any issue and was able to listen to the media content on my phone straight away.

The transfer of audio quality was good, no issues there.

The size of the unit is not an issue at all for my application, hidden away under my monitor, though could imagine it would potentially stick out a fair bit if used in a car or a portable device, all depends where the aux port is located.

The range is not tested very much in my application, I understand being Bluetooth 5.3 it should have a longer effective range than earlier standards. I do have an older portable speaker with Bluetooth 4, so can imagine using this adapter on that as well to improve the Bluetooth connection standard, being so portable not limited to one application.

So small, effective and portable, great little device, giving new life to older equipment!

My car doesn’t have bluetooth but does have the AUX input. This device means I can play music, audiobooks and/or sat nav directions from my phone through my car speakers whilst commuting.

This arrived ready charged so I could test it straight away without having to charge first. It was incredibly easy to pair with my mobile – simply turn on bluetooth and select ‘Maedhawk Link’ as per the instructions, and it’s done!

Both music and audiobook sound fine through my car speakers, although for you this will depend on your own personal taste and the quality of your car speakers. For me, it’s fine to keep me entertained whilst commuting.

Pressing the centre button will pause the music/story if you need to, and press again to resume playing.
    – If it runs out of battery, you can charge this unit whilst in use.

However, this does stick out 5 cm from the AUX point. Depending on where your own AUX point is, this may not be convenient, particularly if you need to use it whilst charging and have a cable hanging down.

The description implies there should be a small blue indicator light in the centre button which goes blue or red when pairing or charging, with the occasional regular flash when in use. I can’t see any indicator light on mine (so could be difficult if I needed to press the centre button whilst driving in the dark), but will update this review if/when I find it!

Overall I’m happy this will fulfill the purpose I ordered it for.

Used a 3.5mm attachment to connect a device to the stereo of an old Smart Roadster (via AUX)
Device works well, easy to pair, and audio quality is impressive
Niggle: Unable to find a way for the device to automatically turn on with the ignition
It’s possible to charge the device while using it, but manual switching on is required hence the location of the port it plugs in to needs to be easily accessible or use a small stereo extension lead.
It has a surprising amount of weight to such a small device
It being Bluetooth 5.3 means the sound quality is better than previous iterations of Bluetooth whilst connectivity and stability are greatly improved.
I think it is a nice idea but it can stick out quite a way from a stereo port and I feel that if it gets knocked something may break. So ideally you need a stereo port that is easy to get to but not too easy that it is likely to get damaged…which may be a problem so think about that before purchase
Battery life could be better as I sometime listen to music for longer than 6 hours so would need to consider charging before each use which could be a faff.

This is a great little product which I am now using in my Van which has an old radio and no bluetooth functionality. It has an AUX IN which means I can use this to have bluetooth in my van to play music or answer calls on the move.

I cant comment too much on battery life as I haven’t run it to empty yet or timed it but the manual says it will do 6 hours from a full charge.

    Really simple to use.

I wish it had a timeout function on it that would auto turn it off after a period of time when there is no device connected to it as I have to remember to turn it off when I get out of the van. If you forget, the battery will just drain completely and need recharging again.

I have a 6 year old Aukey bluetooth speaker that still works with the original battery.

I like it as it was very cheap and has reasonable sound quality that I like.

I have been listening to devices with the latest Bluetooth protocols and they provide more detail to the sound which I enjoy listening to. Sadly my Aukey speaker is stuck on Bluetooth 4.x. This means that I have limited range and sound dynamics when compared with Bluetooth 5.x.

This all came about as I upgraded my phone to a Pixel and had Amazon music subscription which has HD sound tracks. My ears were liking this new sound so my poor old speaker sounded plain in comparison.

This device looked useful and could solve my problem. It has Bluetooth 5.3 and outputs the sound using a 3.5mm plug. This will then fit into the back of my old speaker.

Pairing with this adapter was straight forward and this seems to be the norm these days I am finding with most modern Bluetooth devices. Disconnects seem to be a thing of the past.

The sound quality is on a different level now and I can hear the extra detail which I am use to hearing. My speaker is not high end but it sounds very clear and detailed.

I am happy as I can keep using my cheapo speaker for my years to come.

There is always a downside? It sticks out from the back of the speaker. I think I can live with this as long as I remember to remove it when transporting the speaker.

I would give this Bluetooth adapter six stars if I could. It is brilliant!

Note: I have given it five stars for sound quality but of course this is nonsense. The quality of sound is determined by whatever it is connected to. Crap speakers will give crap sound no matter how superb the adapter is. Decent speakers and a reasonable amplifier and you will get decent sound.

I have only awarded four stars for battery life. The small but complete manual says battery life is “up to 6 hours.” More would have been better, especially as the recharge time, via a USB-C connector, is stated to be 2.5 hours. However, as the adapter is so small and discrete, there is nowhere for extra batteries to fit.

The small size is great but the trade-off is that the one button used to control everything is very small. There is an LED in the middle of the button which shows blue and/or red when charging and pairing. It should flash every 5 seconds when playing, but mine doesn’t. This is no loss as I can tell when it is playing – sound comes from the loudspeakers. However, just a suggestion, perhaps it could illuminate when the phone rings, and during a phone call so one can eventually hang up. Locating the button is difficult when driving and nearly impossible in darkness, especially if your car’s AUX adapter is hidden away.

All these are minor niggles. What impressed me the most is that the adapter paired with my phone almost instantaneously. There are some twenty Bluetooth gadgets paired with my phone, and most of them took time and patience to achieve the connection, and some of them continue to be uncooperative on occasion. This adapter just works! It is quite stunning.
