Pros
1. 15 M length is great, should be more than I’d ever need.
2. H Frame helps to ensure safety, The idea is to take the cable off the frame before use, this will help to prevent it from over heating by having a coil of cable. (ask me how I know about that)
3. Orange colour helps make the cable visible
4. Weather proofing should ensure that I can run power overnight, without having to worry about it getting rained on.
Cons
1. No RCD Protection in the cable.
2. Hard to close the clam shell around a thick cable.
Having an RCD connection in the cable would mean not having to rely on it being installed already at the power source. I’m going to void the warranty of my cable by adding an inline RCD so that I can get this protection without having to do any extra work. Though, at my house, I already have an RCD built into the outside socket. The idea is that if I use this at another location, I won’t need to think about whether there is an RCD or not.
Summary
For the purpose, it’s a good cable, wraps up neatly into a small package, should work well for many years. Just make sure as it’s for outdoor usage that there is proper PCD protection in place.
The first cable I have owned for over a year or so. It is providing a temporary power supply to a part of the garden where I have an outdoor light on a sensor that comes on when you are walking past.
The second cable has just been purchased but it is being used to allow me to have an outdoor water feature in “the perfect location”. Now we can finally relax and enjoy the tranquil water sounds.
So.. the cables are well made and very robust.
They are fully weatherproof.
It’s a very simple method of operation. Pull the Green end clip up, and this then opens the Orange plastic lid. Put your plug in, and then close the Orange lid down. Then finally lock the green end clip by pushing it back down to give a tight weatherproof seal.
So it also comes with a handy cable tidy. Wrap the cable around it and you can hook or pin it up onto a wall if you want to.
I honestly can’t recommend this enough. I don’t really have anything negative to say about it because I can’t think of any!
