NEEWER NP-F Battery to V Mount Battery Converter Adapter
NEEWER NP-F Battery to V Mount Battery Converter Adapter for LED Video Light with Super Clamp Pole Holder, Dual Channel Plate Compatible with Sony npf Battery F970 F750, 5.5×2.5mm DC Cable, PS010E
PROS
-convenient to use any NP-F batteries you may have to power equipment that would usually run from a v-lock battery
-offers even greater capacity because I can connect two NP-F batteries
-little fold out leg at bottom can come in handy (strange that the listing does not mention it)
-useful little crab-clamp with v-mount clamp, I’m going to use this with my v-mount batteries as well.
-nice that a long DC cable was included, with one straight and one right-angled connector
-release from the clamp is well designed and easy to use
CONS
-the mating between the v-lock clamp and the v-lock plate is very poor, there is a lot of room for movement. Strangely, my normal v-lock batteries fit quite snugly in this v-lock clamp.
-in only one product listing photo (and not in the manual) does it state that having one battery in place gives 6.5.4V, and having two batteries in place give 12-16V. This bit of key text is very small, and easily missed.
-doesn’t work with NP-F 550 batteries, disappointing (I have several of those)
NOTES
-it would be really convenient to have some sort of LED indicator of power levels remaining (only one of my NF-P batteries has a meter like this, the rest don’t).
-there is a missed opportunity to add in a d-tap output (and a USB-C output though I expect that that would require extra circuitry).
MY STAR RATINGS:
1* substandard, mostly cons
2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros
3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros
4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons
5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

Its compact design allows for easy attachment of NP-F batteries, providing a convenient alternative to V Mount batteries. The adapter ensures a secure connection and stable power supply, making it a practical accessory for on-the-go videography. Overall, it offers a cost-effective way to extend the usability of NP-F batteries with V Mount-compatible equipment.
Discovering this battery converter adapter has streamlined my video production process. It’s compatible with two types of batteries, which is quite convenient. The ability to power an LED video light continuously up to 60W is impressive. Its solid build with a battery lock feature ensures secure installation. The super clamp’s wide jaw opening allows attachment to various stands and bars, enhancing its versatility. Its quick-release feature is an added convenience, making changes on set quicker and easier. The lengthy DC cable offers the flexibility to position lights where needed without being tethered to a power source.
This adapter seamlessly converts NP-F batteries into V-mount batteries, enabling me to power a wide range of LED video lights, field monitors, and other devices that utilize V-mount power sources. This capability extends the compatibility of my NP-F batteries, maximising their usage and saving my money on additional battery purchases. The dual channel design allows me to connect two NP-F batteries simultaneously, doubling the power output and extending the runtime of my devices. The included super clamp pole holder provides a secure and versatile mounting solution for my adapter. I can easily attach it to various surfaces, such as light stands, tripod legs, or any other suitable structure. This flexibility allows me to position the adapter conveniently and adjust the angle of my devices as needed. This adapter is crafted from high-quality materials and features a sturdy construction that can withstand the rigours of professional use. Its durable design ensures that it will last a long time, providing reliable performance for years to come.
We aren’t doing as much video content these days but having wires running about all over the place and having to move lights and re wire was always a hassle. Also sorting outdoor shoots was a pain.
This makes that so much more friendly and quick for scene changes and lighting outside.
Definitely worth the money.
This NP-F to V Mount Battery Converter Adapter with Super Clamp arrives well packed in a plain looking, Neewer branded, cardboard box. Inside the box is the Dual Channel NP-F to V Mount battery plate, a super clamps, a V Mount Buckle Adapter, a DC cable and a User Manual.
The Dual Channel NP-F to V Mount Battery Plate feels reasonably well made, and although made of lightweight plastic, feels quite robust. Whilst the finish isn’t premium quality, it is perfectly good enough. The plate has two buttons, one above the battery sockets for releasing the batteries, and one on the side for releasing the metal V Mount Buckle Adapter that fits into a metal slot built into the rear of the plate. This V Mount Buckle Adapter allows you to attach the plate to any V Lock Compatible mount, not just the super clamp.
The Battery Plate can take one or two NP-F970 or NP-F570 Sony (or compatible batteries), but isn’t compatible with NP-550 batteries. It then converts their power and outputs a DC output of either 6-8.4V (one battery) or 12-16.8V (two batteries), and is able to power up to 60W.
Output is via a DC 5.5 x 2.5mm socket, and it was good to see that a 1.5m DC cable with two 5.5 x 2.5mm connectors (one straight, one right angled) was included.
The Super Clamp is a standard clamp, with a V Lock adapter attached to the rear of it. Made of aluminium alloy the clamp and V Lock adapter are well made, and very robust.. Although the description states that the jaw opens up to 50mm wide, the clamp I received only opened to about 46mm. It’s nice to see that the are textured rubber pads on the inside of the jaws to help protect and grip anything you clamp onto. As well as the Battery Plate, any standard V Mount battery can be attached to the V Lock adapter, making this clamps a useful device to have in its own right. It has a quick release button, which makes removing the plate or battery a breeze, only taking a second to do.
In use this battery plate worked really well, allowing me to power my MS60C with two NP-F970 batteries. I had no issues with attaching/removing the batteries, nor any issues using the clamp. The only slight difficulty with the plate is remembering that you need to attach the power cable after you attach the batteries. Whilst this is noted in the (very basic) User Manual, it is easy to forget in the heat of the moment, especially if you only use the plate occasionally.
In conclusion, this is a reasonably well made Dual Channel NP-F to V Mount Battery Plate and Super Clamp kit, that allows you to use NP-F970 or NP-F570 to power devices that normally require V Mount Batteries. Whilst it gets few points for its looks, and the finish could certainly be better, it is perfectly good enough considering the price. The only thing missing is that it would be good if there was some kind of battery level indicator, but perhaps that is asking too much? As it stands, it is a great, and potentially ‘job saving’ piece of kit for those who work with V Mount Battery Powered equipment.

I’ve tried this on both a light stand and some 15mm cine rods and it mounts to either very securely, when paired with a couple of np f970 this can give a lot of power for longer shoots too, all in all, a nice bit of kit that makes mounting power solutions easyer.
This is quite a useful unit to have as it means you can have two batteries (with either the Sony type F970 F750 range or compatible makes/brands) on one plate to power a light, ideal in my instance for using a camcorder. The NEEWER NP-F Battery to V Mount converter adapter with dual channels is well designed plus comes with a clamp with a demountable fitting you just slide the unit onto – see photos. There is also a 5.5 x 2.5mm cable supplied plus a small leaflet type booklet of basic instructions but in use it does the job as expected. There is also a ‘swing out’ base that means it’s quite possible to have it as a free-standing unit, if you don’t want – or have – a light stand or similar to clamp it to, so quite a well thought out unit. A well designed and useful uni
