My friend has one and told me how amazing it is, so I couldn’t resist when I saw it on offer during the sales. Can’t say if it’s easy to use but looking forward to seeing it in action.
I purchased this for my granddaughter. She is a crafter like me. She had a lot of fun experimenting with the kit. She gave the paper she painted to her cousin so she could use them as a background for some of her artwork.that was another plus, the paper is nice and thick.
My kids had so much fun with this. I did get another set to gift as well. This is great for a rainy day or for any kind of arts/crafts time. It was easy to use as well.
Please note that the carrageenan solution will take time to thicken. With that said, the results turned out great. I especially love the bright neon colors the most. I also used the paint marbled through a cheap shaving cream.
I got this kit for my kids to share and it worked great as a group activity with them taking turns. This would be a great activity for a play date with a few friends.
The instructions were pretty good, the only mishap we had was a near spill but that’s probably always the case with kids. The marbling was really neat and the kids had a blast creating with it!
This is a lot of fun and we were able to create some nice art with it. I’m glad I read the instructions before starting. I recommend you take out the time to read the directions thoroughly and understand them
I got this as a Christmas gift for my child and he loved it and honestly, so did I! It was a lot of fun and reminded me of the marbling art that I did as a child. This kit comes with everything you need to make several different art pieces and even includes an easel for the included canvas. We first practiced with the transfer paper because it did take a few tries to learn how to get the swirling to look good and not just a messy glob of random paint colors. If your child is on the younger side, you might want to help with the transfer, because it can get messy but that’s pretty typical any time you’re doing art projects with them. Overall, a super fun set, and thinking about buying more for other family members with children because we had a blast!
OTHER THAN THE LOOONNNGG WAITING FIRST PART …. THE ACTUAL PAINT PART WAS GREAT FUN. PLUS, THE BEST PART WAS PULLING THE CANVAS OUT OF THE TRAY AND SEEING RESULTS ! WE DID IT WITH A 5 YR OLD, WHO WAS VERY ENTHRALLED WITH THE RESULTS. THE PHOTOS DON’T DO THE RESULTS JUSTICE … THEY WERE BRIGHTER THAN IT LOOKS HERE.
It’s recommended for ages 6 through 12. I agree with the recommendation, although, it could work for younger kids too with lots of guidance. I had fun with it too and I’m way older than 12. I think it’s a well put together set. I wanted the kids to be able to do it all on their own, so I advised them to do it on a surface we could wipe clean easily and I advised them to wear their “art” clothes, (clothes that is black or is already stained with paints from other activities).
I think the most important thing to note is that before you get started, you have to prepare a mixture of powder and water and let it sit for 2 to 12 hours, depending on whether you used warm or hot water. We did a similar set before that used a different principle and required no waiting. While it wasn’t an issue for us at all, just be aware that you have to wait for a while before you start creating.
I will say, I cannot have her do the transfer to the paper because I am afraid there will be paint all over my floor. So it has been a bit annoying convincing her that she needs to stand back and let me do that step. But the outcome is very beautiful!
