When you only have a limited section of ports on a laptop (2 usb C) this is ideal for extending the display onto additional monitors. Works well with no issues on Microsoft Surface Pro 9
I got this to add my TV as an additional screen to my laptop. I already use a seperate 27″ screen, but for online presentations and bigger online meetings, the extra size of the TV is always helpful to have and this little device makes it possible.
I can run all 3 screens independently or as duplicates, and the laptop auto-detects the TV as having the best sound output.
Only small issue I had was that the screen didn’t quite fit on the TV, losing around 1% of the image at both sides. This isn’t really an issue for what I intend to use it for and no matter the ratio I enabled, it never quite fits 100%, but that may be due to the vast difference on size of the displays (1 x 15″, 1 x 27″, 1 x 43″)
Overall though, it works well and will do what I need it to do
TECHTOBOX USB C to Dual HDMI Adapter
Very compact USB-C HDMI only hub with short braided USB lead. It has
– two HDMI outputs 4K@60hz
Main limitation, is that with windows using both HDMI drops the resolution to 4K@30Hz – still a reasonable option for dual monitor if you don’t need other USB connectivity. 4 stars.
Used to drive 2 extra 22″ monitors, of different ages, from different manufacturer’s (1@ 1920×1080, 1@ 1680×1050) alongside my laptop screen. All this to avoid using the docking station that came with my work laptop.
Only used for 1 week so can’t comment regarding reliability but so far no unwanted disconnections, all working fine. Had regular disconnections when I was using the docking station, especially after coming out of screen lock. This has not happened at all with this adapter….so far.
Bought this as I am working from home, and needed a 2nd screen, easy to use and set up, just plug and play, and pc setting for 2 screen use, it was that easy
This product did exactly what it said it would do. I can extend my laptop screen, close the lid down and then use two screens individually with this splitter, as if the laptop was a pc core.
I now use a private VPN on one screen and the usual system in the other. Brilliant!
Dual Asus monitors connected to the adapter, going in my computer’s USB C/thunderbolt port and a single touchscreen Acer monitor laying flat on my desk, directly connected to my computer’s single hdmi port.
All three monitors working perfectly from as soon as I press the power button straight through to dual booting Windows 11 or Fedora Linux 37.
I’ve had hdmi dongles that I’ve had to fight with to get them to recognise all my monitors every time I’ve booted up the computer, one barely worked with Windows 11 and completely refused to work with Fedora Linux, but I think the struggle is over now.
I had to fiddle around in both operating systems a little to get the configuration I wanted and I always worry about the fragile looking usb c cable but these are just niggles compared to now being able to boot up my computer without having to adjust settings to get my monitors to show up – it’s a win!
The video shows an overview of what’s in the box and my thoughts on the build quality.
In a nutshell:
Things I liked:
Worked. No fuss, 1440p on two screens. Plug and play on my Lenovo laptop.
Things I didn’t like:
Nothing
Do I recommend it?
Yes, definitely. It does the job, no fuss.
Some important information to know before you buy:
– If you’re using a Mac, you’ll only be able to clone your existing display. You can use this to extend your desktop on Windows though. Read the listing carefully for more about this.
– Not all USB C ports have video enabled. Some are just USB C ports, no video output possible. Check your device manual carefully to ensure you can actually output video from your USB C ports before ordering this (or any video over USB C) adapter.
On PC, using it to run 2 monitors, I have one 32″ QHD monitor and one 28″ 1080p monitor in portrait mode. Works flawlessly so far. * Yes, it works in ‘extend monitor’ mode, not just mirror.
I got this device primarily to allow me to use my work laptop at home on my two home screens.
My Dell 15″ laptop has USB C, and my two big 32″ MSI screens have both displayport and HDMI, so I bought a couple of decent 4k HDMI leads to accompany this device, thinking:
* My PC is connected to my two screens via Display Port
* If I route two HDMI cables from the dual HDMI adaptor to the HDMI on each monitor
then
* I can switch between work laptop (Dell) and my home PC by using the input button on each monitor
This would mean I could work seamlessly and enjoy multiple monitors when working from home… great hypothesis!
In practice, the setup worked. The resolution on each monitor needed some tweaking from the laptop,m but in the end I seem to be getting 2560 x 1440 resolution on each screen, at 30hz. Seems fine for spreadsheet and powerpoint work, with the occasional video conference!
For 25.69 this is not bad value, but I know that work offer us similar devices that are similarly priced, but offer ethernet/ USB ports/ etc. also – and this device is more just for displays.
Not a big deal I guess, as this does exactly what I expected it to, and was plug and play.
The only downside is that the build feels a bit weak… the HDMI leads I got were quite chunky, and seem to put some strain on the HDMI ports on this device – I hope that this won’t over time stress it – as I do end up plugging this in/ out of the laptop several times a day on the occasions when I work from it.
Overall, seems like a decent device. I’ve not pushed it to any limits, and it certainly doesn’t give the high FPS/ refresh and clarity of my dedicated RTX graphics card… but all in all, it was a plug and play experience that fulfilled the desired task.
This is a good piece of equipment.
It’s been helping me find a solution to an issue I’ve had with extending my screens with my laptop.
It feels well built and it’s plug and play, so easy to get started.
It could be a bit cheaper in terms of cost for what it is.
This dual HDMI adapter is suitable for USB-C port devices that support video output, which can easily transmit audio and video signals to monitors or TVs or projectors equipped with an HDMI port.
The dual monitor adapter projects a USB-C laptop to two HDMI displays at the same time. It supports single HDMI output resolution up to 4K at 60Hz, and even the dual HDMI supports 4K at 30Hz. Moreover, it is compatible with all USB-C devices that support DP Alt Mode and Thunderbolt 3/4 ports.
It’s not my first time receiving an HDMI adapter, and I could already tell which is nice and not. I would say that this is really good in terms of enhancing work productivity due to its next-generation display interface. It is also very convenient with its small and portable shape design, which is why I always have this in my bag. As for the materials being used, it is nicely constructed and of good quality.
All in all, I must say that I am satisfied with using this HDMI adapter. It is an ideal adapter for me in terms of portability. Highly recommended.
Arrived the next day thanks to Amazon.
Worked hassle-free, no drivers, easy to install, display in 4K mode was nice and crisp as per the product info.
As shown on the video, tested with both iPad and MacBook, both worked very well ( I wish I could say “perfectly” )… see below.
I almost gave this product a 5/5 score, however as shown on the video, the Dual-HDMI ports do not work as a dual port (i.e. extended mode), having 2 screens there would only show one display (duplicated),
It’s a great product if you need this to do exactly that, i.e. using it to have one port for a local screen and another for a projector whereas the display is an exact duplicate of the other.
If you need this for extended mode, then both my iPad and MacBook did not output into the 2 displays as “extended” mode i.e. both display were always duplicated, which means that the display is like a one-only output copied into the other port, effectively only one port.
I loved the fact that it needed no power cable unlike the ones you buy from Apple, this product was pretty much a plug-and-go product works without the need for any additional power cables etc.
Overall, very good product, the 4/5 because the dual HDMI does not work in extended mode.
Thank you for your time reading my review.
This does exactly what it is meant to do with no fuss. It extends my screen via the USB type C port and the picture quality is decent.
I’m happy with it.
This adapter is good for quite specific uses. If, like me, you have a Mac laptop which only has one HDMI socket; then if you have multiple monitors; then you need to figure something out.
There are certain limitations with Mac OS devices that you can read in their blurb. But, that’s an issue with Mac OS, not this device. The good thing is that even with MacBook Pros there is one HDMI, so if you have dual monitors you want to use with your Mac laptop, I have found it is better to connect to one with the built in HDMI, and then connect the other to this (via the USB C). Yep. You can get both through this; but if you connect both to this then the HDMI splitter only supports extending one screen. Better to just plug into different ports ie treating this more as an additional HDMI port converter from USB C, rather than a splitter; so that you overcome that limitation.
Overall, I would say this is fine. Useful to have in your kit bag for other times as well anyway, when you say may need to connect to a projector and an external monitor with the same signal.
On Windows there are far less limitations and this is an easier recommendation.
This HDMI splitter is ideal for presenting on dual monitors from a single laptop.
It’s capable of 40k@30hz and so far, it’s done the job as expected with a nice clear image and no drops in signal.
It’s perhaps slightly overpriced for what it is at 21.99, which was the cost at time of writing, as I feel you can get a full docking station for a little bit more. But, if you need something basic just for dual screens, this is ideal.
I hope you found this review helpful.
Very good USB C to Dual HDMI Adapter, easy to use.
Support dual HDMIA Output with good resolution up to 4K, however when using only 1
Output the provides a resolution up to 4K@60Hz, and when using 2 outputs the resolutions
drops a bit while testing with Windows operating system, but still good quality video and
audio.
This kit is handy to use no software/ driver required.
Computable with MacBook pro, but OS system can extend only 1 screen, which means you
will have the MacBook screen and a second screen only.
easy to store, very lightweight.
If your computer has a USB C port then this is useful for extending your screens. Has worked with my laptop to extend the screen on to another monitor with HDMI. Picture seems ok. Will see if it lasts long, but if it doesn’t then it won’t break the bank.
Fine working splitter as described.Direct to direct type.No picture or sound quality problems ,and working fine for me for my setup.Easy to operate and just plug and play operation.
