Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe lid and bottom of the case have padding but the sides do not. The sides are quite thick, but they are almost rigid and don’t offer a lot of bash protection. I would tend to use this case for less fragile things if I thought they’d needed to withstand high impacts.

The zips run smoothly, and the overall construction quality is good. The main carrying handle is strong and nicely padded. The shoulder strap is very basic and will do the job, but I don’t think it be particularly comfortable if the case is carrying a lot of weight.

Internal dimensions are approximately 260 x 190 x 70 mm, depth is awkward to measure as the foam base can compress and you may have bulky cables in the lid pocket.

As I say, not a bad case but also not brilliant.

Must admit when I ordered this ‘TEKXDD Projector Carrying Case, Projector Carrying Case’ I thought that TEKXDD was just the manufacturer of the case and didn’t realise that it was a type of projector.

Anyway, inspecting the case it is a semi hard shell with non waterproof zips. Inside the main compartment you have an eggshell foam bottom and a zipped accessories compartment in the lid.

My mini short throw projector just fits inside the case with its power lead, however it is a snug fit and I will more than likely just use it as a storage case as opposed to planning any travelling with it.
As can be seen, there is no padding for the top of the projector, which I think is a little bit of short sightedness by the manufacturer.

All in all, as I am using it for off purpose – it is not a bad semi hard shell case. It may be able to take a little drip of water but I certainly wouldn’t trust it in rain fall. It appears to not be available at the moment in this listing, but it may well be perfect for the recommended projector.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little snug for my projector but does the job

A nice hard case with slight flex to it. Perfect for camrea equipment. I’m eather putting a sports SJCAM camrea in this case or microphones.

Love the additional foam in the case, something the cheaper cases add in.

All in all a great product and a 5***** from me!

There are a lot of cases like this in the marketplace and I own many of them. This is a well made version of a fairly ubiquitous semi-rigid gadget case design. I’ve managed to amass quite a bit of studio recording gear over the past few years, that needs protection while being stored. Something lightweight to keep gear dust free and tidy. I’m not using cases like this as a heavy duty travel solution for gear – I have Pelican type cases for that – but cases like these are fine for home storage and the occasional light use trip out.
The fit and finish on this case is smart. The zips feel fine. Not super heavy duty, but fine.
The case contains a section of egg box foam and an elastic retaining strap – that may or may not need useful depending entirely on how you’re using it. I have a couple of microphones and a preamp in the case at the moment and I had some pick and pluck foam handy to use as a proper insert for this gear.
My only real issue with the case is the advertising claims made by the advertising page. While I’m sure the case could stand a little trip out to the car in the rain, or maybe a small spill – it isn’t in any way going to keep contents dry if water enters the zipper. As far as protection of equipment when dropped – it honestly depends on the equipment and how heavy or fragile it is. This case doesn’t include pick and pluck foam, so unless your gadget fits the exact case measurements, it will move around inside even when strapped down against the foam insert on one side. And that foam insert is just on one side of the case, so the only protection on the other five sides of the case is the thickness of the case wall, which will provide some protection, but not really against significant impacts. I don’t really think the manufacturer should be trying to extol virtues that this case doesn’t have.
So use your judgement on this one. If it’s expensive, sensitive and fragile and it’s likely to be dropped or sat on, or get wet – look elsewhere. If you’re looking for some smart, light protection for a reasonable price – then this one is perfectly good

Got this to use with our Bastop projector, as an alternative to the cardboard box it is currently stored in. The projector measures 230mm long, 145mm wide and 75mm high.

It does fit within the case, there is a slight bit of pressure on the lid which would probably disappear over time as the internal foam padding in the base squashed down / adopted the shape of the projector. This does however mean that the zipped section in the lid is not particularly useable in our situation, as any significant contents would stop the lid closing. As we keep our projector with a number of cables, we would end up having to separate the projector from its accessories, meaning we would need a bigger case.

The case is a semi-hard case, holding its own shape but with a bit of flex in all, which would certainly give a level of protection to a projector or similar object, given the open nature of the inside of the case there are plenty of alternative uses for it. All seems well constructed, with decent, smooth zips and a solid carry handle.

Good case, despite not using it for our projector, sure will find a good use for it!

Overall, this is a nice case for protecting gadgets or similar items from scuffs and slight bumps during transport. It is a semi-rigid soft shell type material, with a decent zip and a reinforced carrying handle. The internal dimensions are approximately 250x190mm with a zipped pocket in the lid for cables or small items and a restraining velcro strap in the main compartment.

The listing states the case to be “semi-waterproof” which is a bit of a meaningless statement. It’s either waterproof or it isn’t! Whilst the case material may have some sort of water resistance, the zips most certainly will not, so I think this is a bit misleading to be honest.

The case comes complete with a shoulder strap. I don’t tend to use these, so it’s not important to me, but it is worth pointing out that the strap is made from quite thin webbing with plastic clips. I’m sure it is strong enough for the intended purpose of the case, but without any sort of padding, the strap will quickly dig in to your shoulder if you have any sort of weight in the case.

The inclusion of a piece of “egg-crate” type foam is ok, but looks like a bit of an afterthought. It would be much more useful if it came with two pieces of the foam, so at least it was possible to protect both sides of whatever was in the case. Even better would be a piece of solid foam which could be cut out to suit the user, as that would make this case quite handy for things like action cameras etc.

Overall a good sturdy case, but with a few tweaks could be even better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good case, but could be slightly improved

I was given this bag to review and it fits my little cheapy portable projector just about right with enough space to pop my cables in so that I am able to take it away on holiday with me for that big screen use. The outer shell is a bit more flexible than I would have liked so not really a hardcase as such more of an “Over” soft case.

    Hope this helps ….

Good quality hard case which has a strong metal zip with 2 pulleys, rubberized carry handle, detachable strap and protective foam insert.
It is well made and feels robust and sturdy. The interior padding in the base is removable and the upper compartment has a zipped mesh pocket.
It offers excellent protection for my camera and accessories and has plenty of space in it. Only one thing I didn’t like is that the strap has plastic clips at each end and I think metal ones would have been more robust but it is excellent value.
