I love the idea of the slow feeder/dog puzzle however my 20 weeks old Labrador worked it out very quickly. Took him 2 minutes to eat it all. I believe bigger breeds specially food motivated dogs need something bigger and more tricky. Otherwise thumps up.
I bough it for my dog for Christmas, took her 10 minutes to figure it out and then she just continue to push it for fun… I was hoping to keep her busy with it when I’m working, but it’s so loud! Very happy dog though!
Well, we have tried many different slow feeding bowls ect to slow down her eating. This really works for betty. As you can see I’ve loaded a video of just a few of the 10 to fifteen minutes (maybe more) of feeding time. just to show how it works. I put just two table spoons of puppy dry dog food in the top and although this is only the second time she has used it, she is starting to figured out how to get it to work. Not only does it slow her feeding down but also gives her some entertainment at the same time.. Day 5 betty has learnt how it works now and has cut her feeding time down to 5 minutes, but that is still much slower than other slow feeders we have tried. So on the whole I would still recommend it.
Unfortunately my German shepherds biscuits didn’t fit in this (Royal canin adult dog 5+) so i gave it to a friend who’s a springer/cocker spaniel mix, it works for her with smaller biscuits, so just isn’t designed for big dogs.
Buddy really likes it and gets very excited when opening it with the nose and getting the nuts. The only thing is he doesn’t realise he can press it to get more nuts, and he gets frustrated when the nuts are over. Any recomendations on how to show him how to do it?
Well used this for one who needed more stimulation and she just couldn’t work it out.. the little one however found it after a few goes and loved it, she wasn’t so good at pushing for more though.
I was informed this could go in the dishwasher as it’s impossible to was properly by hand. While the main toy washed fine the lid melted out of shape so now can’t use. Would like to know where to Oder new lid please
Easy to use. It took a few goes and a little frustration but my dog learnt how to work it quite quickly. The first few days we used it a few times a day but now we’ve settled into giving him his dinner with it, he just doesn’t realise that and thinks he’s been a good boy and deserves a reward! I would suggest the first few times you use it that you keep hold of it otherwise the frustration can send it across the room, ejecting food everywhere. A few goes of that and your dog will think that’s how it’s meant to work, so keep hold of it and you’ll give the dog time to learn how it’s meant to be used.
Well this is a fun toy but I has to works for mine dinner. Is dis fair!! I does like bashing da top and snuffling mine dinner outta da filp flaps. Patsy Posh Paws cocker spaniel
My 2 year old lab retriever too boisterous and impatient to play the game properly. Yes, he knew exactly how this game was to be played!! However, within a few minutes he worked out that if he emptied the dispenser first then tipped the whole game over, he didn’t have to go into each ‘hatch’ one at a time to retrieve the treats- they were all over the floor to be scooped up. He also chewed the footpads off so he could chase up and down the rooms with the toy upright or upside down like he had a hovering UFO toy. He’s chewed it well but loves it!!
Very interactive for my dog, he picked up what to do in little time, only after a few goes, he then realised double tapping the top released more treats at once.
My German Shepherd pup loves this toy she took to it easily she found out how to use the doors just by curiousity trying to smell the treat I had put in there the same with the sliders.pushing the button herself took a few days for her really get what was going on, but once it clicked she never looked back. Overall I’m very pleased with this. I wish there was a larger version of it for when she gets older. They give you a spare door in the pack, the doors so far are durable, but when she was first learning how to use it she would sometimes try to bite the doors. So I’d recommend that you don’t let them use it unsupervised until they know how to work it fully.
He absolutely loves this, worked out how too use it straight away.. Keeps him busy for ages.. Hes avery fussy eater so ive started putting his biscuits – (dry foid) in it and have too fill it up a fair few times but hes been eating it then having treats its sturdy. At first i thought it would be better if it was none slip and heavier too stop it sliding but i think it makes it harder for dog in a way, too keep them busier for longer. Best toy he has.
My dog really love this toy and it encourages him to use his mind. He took a little while to work it out, but now knows to hit the top to get the food out. With the other toys he had, he worked them out too easy and becomes dis interested, but he loves his toy and uses it every day.
