This is absolutely brilliant, cooks meat, poultry perfectly. We have just had the best Xmas dinner and the Turkey lobe I cooked was so moist and perfect. If you can afford it get it, can’t wait to cook joints int he BBQ this summer.
Really great piece of equipment to use alongside cooking a roast. It’s really handy being able to keep an eye on the temp of the meat without having to physically check it.
Came in an undamaged box and great instructions.
My wife was very skeptical when I suggested that we buy this item. She was adamant that we didn’t need something so complicated and would prefer a manual probe. This of course would have required opening the oven. This probe can be simply inserted and left. It gives both the internal and ambient temperatures. She has admitted to a tendency to overcook joints of meat in the past, “just to make sure”. My hopeless efforts to cook a Sunday lunch, for which she does far better than I could ever do, meant I was on “gadget” duty this time. I simply used the recommended value for a joint of lamb and inserted it into the thickest part of the joint. She was finally impressed with the outcome which was also echoed by our son.
Just make sure not to put it into the dishwasher. Also make sure it is fully charged before using it the first time.
Having been very disappointed with a similar product on connectivity which I returned this is a dream to operate with the additional feature of ambient temp read out. Tested on bbq turbot and a great success. Fully recommended.
Makes cooking so stress free and means you always cook to the correct temperature. Dont see myself ever going back to a instant read ever again. Range was surprisingly good I went a minute down the road before it started beeping that I was out of range.
Probe measures temp at both ends separately, so you can read both the internal temp of the meat and the temp of the air in the smoker/bbq on your phone. The probe connects remotely to the base unit, and they need to be fairly close to each other. The base unit then connects remotely to your phone over a very long distance. Phone app can record both temps for the duration of the cook and can be saved for reference. Would recommend.
Works well, but does feel like the cheaper version vs others.
Predicted cook time is slightly off to start and it doesn’t have a rest time built in.
Range is good, but no way it’s 150m when there is a slight object in the way
Booster does help and the alarms built in are also handy.
Overall it is still good, but not as good as those more expensive
Give you a warning when approaching temp so you can be ready. I’ve had no issues with it at all but make sure you put the probe back in the case and give it a charge as it runs out and you don’t want to get caught without it.
