I was looking for something that would fit under my desk at work that would give off enough heat to keep my legs warm and not make any noise.
This is perfect for that.
It won’t heat a room up, but it gives off just enough heat to keep it between your shins and keep your legs warm. It does get red hot to the point it would burn your bare skin, but because it’s so small it doesn’t actually radiate that much heat unless you’re pretty much touching it or an inch or two away.
But I needed a silent heater to stop the inevitable whinging of other colleagues – ‘You got that heater on again? Eleictricity bill, blah blah’..
Thermostat on it does next to nothing, just whack it up to max and forget it.
Apart from that it’s a decent quality little thing, just don’t expect to heat a full room with it unless it’s a cupboard.
Bought this for our caravan to keep it warm during these very cold days. Works a treat and cuts out when reaches the correct temperature. I like the design and look of it.
For a small heater I was shocked by the amount of heat it produces in a room, if you’re looking for something compact that does the job then this is it.
I bought this little heater to place under my computer desk at home to keep my legs warm. For it’s size, it works well and heats up quick and the thermostat works. If you need a heater for a larger area, this won’t be adequate so you’ll need a larger one.
It loses a star as it has an illuminated switch which comes on when it’s switched on and heating. It switches off once it’s reached the temperature set on the thermostat. However, it doesn’t come back on when it starts to reheat when the temperature drops. In other words, it comes on when you first switch it on and that’s it.
These little low-power heaters are quite common, but I chose this one as it looked very similar to a previous one I had, that seemed well made. I use this under the desk when I’m working from home in order to give my feet a bit of extra warmth. in fact it’s left on all the time on a low level, using its built-in thermostat to stop the room from getting too cold overnight in the winter. You are certainly not gonna warm a room with one of these unless it’s a broom cupboard but it’s a way of getting spot heat in a room that has other heating. It is excellent. Bear in mind, it is hundreds of watts so will cost to use. Unlike heaters that blow hot air, it doesn’t dry you out either, so you don’t end up with dry eyes after working in the room all day and as it has a solid metal construction it tends to stay warm for quite awhile After it’s been switched off.
It’s very small, weighs just under 3kg. I have it under my desk in my very cold living room and it’s keeping my legs and feet nice and toasty. Don’t buy this expecting to heat a small room. It’s designed for very very small spaces or local heating. I just got this because it was a little extra bundled with the larger heater I ordered.
Currently on my tariff as of Dec 2023, it’s 36p/kwh in the day and 14p/kwh overnight. My storage heaters cost a fortune even on reduced tariff. This keeps me warm for 23p an hour in the day and if I’m doing an overnight, only 9p an hour. It’s not gonna heat my living room but it’s a nice toasty heat under my desk which slowly makes it’s way upwards to my head.
Like many of us, ever since the pandemic the drive to home/hybrid working has meant that I spend a fair amount of time alone in the house working in my home office (aka smallest bedroom in the house). With fuel bills last winter spiralling, I am keen not to have another year where I have to turn the heating on in the whole house when I am predominantly working in one room. Hence this small heater…
It is small (about the size of a shoe box I would say) and this is certainly not something for your living room, but if you want to warm up a small space to a comfortable temperature, then so far, this has been great. I keep it under my desk, and though it gets hot to the touch, there is no burn like you would get with a fan heater. Rather, it just slowly heats the air of the whole room up.
Now I have only had it a while, and in September the weather outside is not particularly cold yet, but I am hoping that as winter approaches, this will continue to offer good value for money as opposed to heating the whole house.
Finally, at a price of less than a take-out for two, what is not to like.
