The Windscreen Cover for frost just fits quickly inside the doors so it’s a great little cover to take off and put on without getting too cold. It seems to work well to keep the frost off, helping to avoid waiting extra long for the heaters to do the job and saving on battery on my EV.
It really came into its own during this icy weather. It fits my SUV perfectly top to bottom, side to side, with the benefit of the mirror coverage and the wheel tie-down straps. I was so impressed that I bought one for my saloon car. The only quibble I have is that it came vacuum packed, which is understandable to minimise bulk in transit, so the plastic bag that it came in is then scrap. It would have been great if it came in a plastic zipper type bag (like a freezer bag) so that when you take it off the windscreen you can immediately put this icy cover into it. This will then ensure that when it thaws it’s not wetting the boot.
I used the windscreen cover last night and this morning there’d been a hard frost but the windscreen was clear of any frost/ice.
The makers may need to put a few more magnets along the edges but otherwise it’s ok.
This is a good-quality windscreen cover, the material is thick and seems durable. Made from four layers of thickened aluminium foil and high-density cotton, the cover can work all year round to provide protection from heat and frost. It’s a fairly large size and it easily covered the windscreen on my SUV. The two flaps at either end cover the side mirrors and the wings go between both front doors to keep it in place. The additional elastic harness can be tied to the alloys to stop it from blowing over during those windy days.
Currently, with Autumn running its usual wet and windy cycle, I always get leaves trapped in the vents between the wipers and the bonnet, which are not only hard to get at, but they get all soggy when it rains and become a mush that is a nuisance to clean. Hence the cover keeps those leaves out, not only that, but it protects the windscreen from frost in the early mornings and come summer, it’ll help to keep the car interior cool, so no more burning your backside on the leather.
This is indeed a fantastic item, that is useful all year round for all seasons. A great buy.
This works a treat, I like that this has the wing mirror flaps to help secure the cover as you are putting it on, it makes it a lot easier.
The magnets that run along the bottom are nice and strong and help ensure it does not fly away, I used it during one of the recent storms and it was still sitting there when I came out in the morning.
This windscreen cover is well built and well thought-out. It’s made of a reasonably thick yet lightweight material, so it’s not too cumbersome to fit on the windscreen.
It has several features to help it stay in place during windy conditions – a row of magnets built into the cover to attach to the roof directly above the windscreen, some flaps which fold inside the front car doors, some covers which can be pulled right over the wing mirrors, and some hooks which can be pulled down to the front tyres.
The cover size quite a large size – it feels like it would completely cover the front windscreen of anything but the largest 4x4s. Being lightweight, it’s also easy to fold away and store in the boot until needed.
Using this, I feel like I’ll be prepared for the winter season!
I am hoping this will serve a dual purpose, stop the Frost and ice on winter mornings and stop the build up of pine needles the car is constantly subjected to which enter and build up in the engine (pic 1)
It was easy to fit the cover, cover each mirror with the “ears”, arrange it evenly then flaps in the doors (see pic2s & 3 ). Fitted like this the air vent into the engine is covered to keep the needles out.
The cover has a few small round weights/ magnets sewn in around the top and bottom edges top help keep it place but I felt the weights were a bit too lightweight to do the job so I tried refitting it under the windscreen wipers (pic 4). This left the vent partially exposed but was a massive improvement on nothing.
I reverted to the standard way of fitting and watched it in a breeze and rain storm. The cover did flap about in the breeze (see video) but stayed in place.
I left the car for a further 24 hours to see if the cover stayed put, the next day the cover was still in place and the windscreen was dry.
The issue then became what to do with the wet cover when I removed it to use the car. I left it to dry in the driveway which is not ideal, a storage bag would have been handy to bundle it into the boot until such time as I could lay it out to dry.
I cannot comment on frost/ ice protection until we are subjected to it, but in the meantime the cover looks set to keep the pine needles at bay.
Sturdy but light so, easy to put on and take off. Had a couple of hard frosts recently and the design of this frost cover worked. Covers over the top of the windscreen, the wipers and both mirrors so just take off and drive away. Frost covers I’ve used before can get blow up in strong winds. This one has straps that fit over the front wheel spokes, the ears that fit over the mirrors and flaps that fit inside the closed doors so it stays securely in place.
Whilst it is true that any covering will do the job of keeping ice off the windscreen overnight, this cover differentiates itself from a carpet offcut or binbag liner by being well engineered to stay put even in windy conditions.
The closed car doors provide the primary tension across the screen, and the whole is prevented from further movement by the elasticated wheel ties.
The door mirror covers are less important for me as my car has heated mirror glass, but it is a nice touch nevertheless. I would prefer the wiper arms and blades sat on top of the cover as a major annoyance is when the blades freeze to the screen. We shall see whether this is a problem during the coming winter.
The price is quite reasonable, at time of writing it is 15.99. You will never need to buy anothe
