I took my son to the cinema to see this movie just before Christmas , he thinks this was even better than the last Aquaman movie. If it had come out sooner it would have been on his XMAS list.

Not good as the first movie.
Watchable obviously but since DCEU getsd cancelled along with all these characters .. i just don’t see the point of this movie to be released.

Many sequel don’t quite make it and lack the dynamics of the first film. This film, however, keeps the pace going and expands on Aquaman’s role. A couple of parts where it felt a bit confused, but overall another winner!

Predictable smash and destroy sequel to a rather entertaining start to this franchise, not as good as the original, which was far more fun, this follow on is bloated with CGI monster’s and mayhem and much more darker than the first and as far not as entertaining as it could be, nevertheless is still watchable for the avid fan and as always Jason Mamoa is still an enjoyable actor to watch backed up by an excellent supporting cast, shame the film leaves you slightly disappointed.

This film was brilliant lots of action good affects ,but I didn’t find it a good as his first one there was more of a story in Aquaman 1 and you got involved ,I couldn’t stop watching the first one but I found again to much going on ,to follow a story but there was one there ,and this did carry on with the first film he made but was lacking I just can’t put my finger on why I didn’t like it as much as his first Aquaman as it was more believable the story and I would recommend this film for the affects and action actors really good as usual .regards mrs jefcoate

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe movie is not rated by many critics, however, myself ? I love watching special-effect gems such as this and forgive the bland acting in most cases.
This telling of how the now ‘King of Atlantis’ is forced to defend both his family and kingdom from the threat of the vengeful Black Manta ( Yahya Abdul-Mateen ) and his many followers, with revenge and destruction in mind.
However, Aquaman/Arthur (Jason Momoa ) cannot do it alone he’ll need help from his exiled/imprisoned brother Orm (Patrick Wilson)….but will Orm agree to help, can the wounds of yesterday be healed i but for a short time ?
For myself, I thought this a superior viewing experience to that of the first in the series, thought it to be a faster action/fantasy movie
Also, this was a great vehicle for the 4k format.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAquaman’s back. Some time has passed since the end of the first film. He’s not entirely keen on being a King. But he loves having a son. He’s living a great life when he’s home with his boy and his dad.

But Black Manta is on a quest for revenge. Will he put the world in danger in order to get it?……

TRIGGER WARNING: Film features occasional glimpses of Amber Heard, which will upset internet trolls.

This takes a little bit to settle down. It reintroduces Arthur really well. But then a bit of exposition and set up is required. Visuals during this range from studio bound to very occasional location work. And some undersea stuff is done with back projection in front of moving images. This took a bit of getting used to.

Not a spoiler to say that Amber Heard is in some of this. But only some. her absence works fine in context though.

And some events do appear to have happened in between films, one little thing being a bit of a surprise.

There was another surprise though. Someone I hadn’t expected to see, and was really glad to. Spoilers.

There is a point about a quarter of the way in where this clicks though. After that it settles down and has good narrative drive.

The first quarter didn’t feel like anything had really been reshot. And frankly I’m inclined to think that because the bulk of this, as seen in the trailer, is the Arthur Orm relationship. They have a good dynamic together which is fun at times. Patrick Wilson is great in the part. A couple of really good character arcs result.

The Black Manta actor is terrific. Always showing just by body language just how obsessed he is. His side of the story results in a good arc for someone as well. After seeing the really weak villain character in the Marvels, it was nice to have a strong villain here.

This does have a lot of ideas. It doesn’t slow down much. But it does give everything enough attention to make them work. There is some decent jeopardy. High stakes. Excellent set design. Which all leads to an excellent final set piece. Which has jeopardy. Something I haven’t always felt in some Marvel movies.

One character does get a bit lost in the crowd. Spoilers. But the ending is good and does set up what really could have worked for a third film.

I had a good time with this. I’m sure in the minority. But I’m used to it. I was entertained. And that’s why I go to the cinema.

There is a middle end credits scene. It wasn’t setting anything up anyway. It’s worth seeing though.

There’s not one at the end.

The dvd goes straight into the menu when loaded with no ads or trailers.

There are no extras at all.
