The resolution and refresh rate combined with the lightness of this clean portable ease of use monitor is a dream with the likes of an old, new console and even handheld computer. Recognises a connection within seconds and displays perfectly only recommendation headphones are a must. Grab it when its on offer.
I have downsized my gaming PC for travel purposes. It works so well with only the pd out from a 35 watt mini pc. Goes up to full brightness with it’s own power supply. Color quality is high and it’s extremely lightweight. I believe the manufacturers demand a high standard from themselves.
Use this for a variety of things. Connects to iPad whilst interviewing clients. Desktop Mac as another screen and mobile gaming for my son. Excellent quality. Don’t rely on speakers.
Great little monitor, best used with headphones if possible cuz the speakers are pretty awful. The cables that come with it are pretty short too and the hdmi cable is a mini one so couldn’t just swap it out.
V portable plugs straight in and cables come with it.
You don’t need a power supply
Easily carry in your brief case.
Now you can use double screens wherever you go!
Great quality compact screen, works well as 2nd screen for my work laptop. Shame it doesn’t come with even a basic slip case to protect it, and the speakers are extremely quiet, but better than nothing. Otherwise I’d thoroughly recommend as 2nd screen, or as I sometimes us it, as a screen for retro gaming. Would also make a good screen for Raspberry Pi projects.
Ordered this product originally with my SteamDeck but realised that the SD couldn’t use its own speakers when connected via the USB C port so I tried it with my laptop instead.
The display is crisp and colours are accurate and the addition of a second screen made the laptop brilliant to use. I really didn’t realise how much better it would be with a second screen.
The display uses power from the USB C cable (included) so no other power is needed. It’s so thin (1cm ish) that it fits in the side pocket of my laptop case and I hardly know it’s there. The stand is a flip-out-from-one-side type and it works well and is adjustable for angle.
Several cables – usb c to usb c, usb to hdmi and usb to usb c are all included in the box.
The sound is not great but I use my laptop speakers which are decent in any case. I did have to contact support for a problem but they sorted it out immediately to my satisfaction.
Overall, a really handy monitor that works very well, is well made and is extremely portable and great value for money!
I was skeptical, however so impressed with the functionality of this screen, very happy with using this as a secondary screen, in fact it is better than the screen on my laptop!
Bought as a 2nd screen when working from home, I don’t have the storage or space for a full sized monitor. This is a great sized portable screen, slimline, easy to set up and does the job perfectly. Would highly recommend.
I was more than happy with this screen as it was far better quality than I was expecting considering the price. It connects every time and is very low on energy consumption from my MacBook Pro. Shame it did not come with a case to protect it but considering the price understandable.
Main purpose of the screen is to use it during our travels. We use only 14″ laptops as our computers. In our offices we have large additional screens. Transportable screen that doesn’t need additional box or power units is really handy. At the office it works as a third screen when required: laptop, large screen on HDMI and the transport screen on USB-C.
Quality of the screen is high. Good for our work, which includes accounting, engineering and software development.
Screen quality is good but not perfect
It is an old lcd when now we have oled displays.I paid 118 for this. Need additional usbc charging to make it work.
I got the 16 1 with 50% off. Love the screen brightness. And how slim and compact it is. Just connects straight to my laptop. Comes with 3 cables, USB c to c, USB to USB c and hdmi to USB c (I think!)
Less one star because I’d have really liked it to come with a protective sleeve to reuse. I’ll see if I can buy one separately.
Screen is fairly crisp, although does seem a little grey-ish. Good viewing angles! Very useful for small spaces. I do wish the stand was on both sides and also be aware the cables are very short so might need to order some longer ones and also cables poke out quite a bit so if you’re picky you might need a U adapter.
The picture quality is good, the brightness is reasonable, the build quality seems fine, and the monitor is pretty slim.
The negatives are:
The stand isn’t great; getting it to stay put is finicky, and you don’t have much choice in angle if you want it to stay stood up.
The controls are a bit fiddly, though you probably won’t need to mess with them more than once.
The placement and choice of ports is a little inconvenient. The controls are on one side, the ports on the other, and the cables stick out. I got some 180 degree adapters for both the power and display, but this still adds width and a little bulk, and was a let down as I bought this for a ‘briefcase computer’ build, where the required extra space on either side of the monitor, and behind it, reduces the quality of the entire build.
6.5/10. Quality of the monitor is nothing special, but playing games at 144 fps is good. Build quality is good. Would advise anyone interested in this monitor to wait for it to go on sale. Only then is it worth the price. I got lucky and got it on sale + 70 voucher (total cost 149.99).
Having used an oled monitor for 3 years, this isn’t even close in quality but as a mini portable second monitor for my laptop/consoles it does the job.
Pros:
-144hz (Works with PS5/Xbox Series X, old gen and PC/laptops)
– Comes with stand
– 2 usb ports + mini hdmi (with mini hdmi to normal hdmi cable in box).
– Brightness control (although isn’t that bright at max)
Cons:
-Can’t control volume
-Sound isn’t great (advise getting speakers/headphones)
– Screen quality is not amazing
– Screen has a slight grey tint to it
Overall, would only recommend if you have a small set up or have a need to have a portable gaming monitor. Hard to recommend for a primary monitor. If you can get for less than 150 and you need a portable monitor then it’s a relatively safe option and build quality is good.
*Will continue testing and will update review when complete.
The Good.
1. Working HDR (Tested using a PS5; detected HDR support and ran through calibration)
2. 144Hz @ 1080p, Crisp lag-free display (tested using PS5 God Of War Ragnarok, zero complaints worked very well even in intense combat, no noticeable display lag)
3. LOW energy (essential if you want to use this with the laptop or external battery for any given amount of time, estimate < ~10W on average). 4. USB-C PD passthrough! I'm not sure of the amount of power passthrough this unit is capable however in testing you can run power -> display -> Laptop as an example (assuming your laptop can take USB-C PD).
The bad:
1. Button placement prevents using this display in anything other than landscape orientation without a separate stand. You _CAN_ use the “smart cover” to position this in the portrait orientation however the placement of the buttons causes the display to continually power cycle.
2. Speakers lack definition, the audio output is good don’t get me wrong, however it’s not going to be dolby HD quality as an example, they serve the purpose however there’s room for improvement.
The information to be aware of:
1. Google pixel phones (and many others) do not support USB-C video, this is not a fault of the product! – if you want to use this purely with a mobile phone, please do you research ahead of time! For me this is a minor annoyance as this is not the main use case for myself, though I know may be for some.
The use-case background.
I’ve been looking at energy efficiency for some time, prior to and especially now given the rise in energy costs in the UK, I’m using low power consuming high energy efficiency wherever possible as a result, and alternative energy products such as solar PV, and portable LiFePo4 packs, for a Living I work from a laptop for many hours a day, using a single display can impact your productivity, and it’s not always possible to have that secondary display when you most need it. I am hoping this portable display will change this for me, and will be putting it to the test in my next international trip.
Separately this is a low energy use display, and works very well for gaming in my limited testing; when playing on the PS5 GOW Ragnarok for example, combat did not suffer any apparent latency.
I plan to update this review post my next international travel, in closing a very capable product and I am looking forward to continued use of this.
