I wanted a simple HDMI adapter to use with my Chromebook, that could also charge from my power bank when I’m off site to do a presentation.
This USB C to HDMI adapter by BASESAILOR does exactly that with no fuss. The important factor is that via the one remaining USB C port of my Chromebook, this adapter performs two functions.
The slight extra cable length from both the Input USB C and female HDMI and USB C side enables me to tidily tuck in the adapter underneath my Chromebook while in use.
This adapter will be useful to anyone that wants to make efficient use of available USB C ports on their PC/laptop.
I got this for travelling as i am a nurse and trainer.
The item itself includes cables are braided and flexible wit ha c port connector
Easily compatible with my laptop and ideal for travel or to keep in my laptop bag.
I gave this a go by connecting my Steam Deck up to the TV and it worked just fine. There’s a USB-C power cable connector split off from it as well which makes it ideal for longer sessions on the Deck and will also allow you to use it for a Nintendo Switch (which needs power in order to output to a screen with a cable).
Overall I recommend it. It sits in an “average” price for this kind of thing but is nicely portable and flexible, meaning you can easily chuck it in a bag for holiday.
The BASESAILOR USB C to HDMI Adapter brings versatility to your devices. With a 2-in-1 Type-C to 4K HDMI converter and a Thunderbolt 3 port supporting up to 100W PD charging, this adapter is a compact powerhouse.
Effortlessly connect your iPhone 15 Pro Max, MacBook, iPad Air 5, Galaxy, Dell, Steam Deck, or ROG Ally to external displays in stunning 4K resolution. The thoughtful inclusion of a high-power charging port ensures your device stays charged during data transfers or extended use.
While delivering on its promise of seamless connectivity, the adapter’s compact design makes it a travel-friendly companion for users on the go. A commendable addition to any tech arsenal, enhancing your device’s connectivity options with BASESAILOR’s reliable adapter is a smart choice.
The Basesailor 2 in 1 USB-C to HDMI adapter is fairly solid, it has thick nylon braided cable and metal shells around the connectors and splitter box.
The adapter allows to connect your phone or laptop to a TV or monitor via the HDMI port and simultaneously charge your device at up to 100W, of course your device has to support HDMI over USB-C in order for this to work.
The device only draws around 117mW from a USB-C port with nothing connected, that rose to 1.1W when I connected it to my TV via an HDMI switch box. The power drain may be less if connected directly to a TV.
I connected the adapter to a 65W USB-C charger and was able to charge a laptop at almost 55W while watching HD content streamed from the laptop, but displayed on a TV.
I was only watching at 1080p@60Hz since that is the highest resolution that my TV supports, the picture and sound quality though, were excellent.
This is a great adapter if you are happy watching TV at 1080p, because it only supports a 30Hz refresh rate at 4K. It is a little on the large side, but at least you can charge your phone or laptop while watching it on a TV.
Used this to charge my laptop and use the HDMI at the same time to have two displays. This cable allows me to use two HDMI’s to different monitors.
Charging is also fine as it accepts the 60w type c input and supplies the power as if it were on the type c input alone.
Used this on an iPhone 15 Pro Max to output to a display and charge at the same time, worked perfectly and I find works far more reliably than airplay to my TV over WiFi, the bonus of this adapter being I can keep my phone topped up with charge at the same time.
This USB C to HDMI Adapter outputs video from a USB-C port or Thunderbolt 3 port to an external display via HDMI. It supports 4K Video Output for an enhanced audio and video experience. The cable feels solid as it is made from double-braided exterior and an aluminium alloy casing, which can withstand everyday bends, twists, and pulls. It is a great addition to the ever expanding connection needs.
With everything running in and out of one port these days adapters like this are needed to allow you to keep a device charging whilst also using for other things. I use with my phone but would likely also work for tablets or laptops with up to 100W charging capability. Not huge in size so can easily be brought along in a bag or kept in the car for example.
First impressions are good. The connectors are metal cased and the cables are braided, making the adapter feel well made and a quality product. This adapter allows you to output up to 4K video on supported devices via USB-C to a monitor or TV via a HDMI cable (not supplied), as well as being able to power and fast charge the device from an appropriate USB-C charger or power supply.
I tested the adapter with a number of Apple devices including a laptop, phone and tablet. All delivered an excellent 4K image to my OLED TV without any issues. If anything I would say the only downside is that the adapter is quite long and doesn’t easily fold up due to the interconnecting cable thickness. It’s very light though and great for travelling. Excellent value for what it does and great that it supports up to 4K video.
This item was delivered quickly and well packed. It looks well made, and the plugs fit snugly into the sockets. In operation, the adapter worked well, charging my phone while at the same time allowing me to play my recordings on my TV. As the phone is connected to power, I don’t get the annoying interruptions that the battery is out of charge.
In my opinion, this item works well, is well made, and is good value for money.
Used to connect my tablet to a 4K TV for use with presentations and for GeForce Now and for this purpose it works great. With this adapter you can connect to a TV for a gaming graphics and performance experience far above the Steam Deck and charge at the same time – just make sure you have a good internet connection!
The cable is decently-well made and quite sturdy, so I have no qualms about taking it places.
For my purposes it works great, and I would recommend this if you want to do the same!
This adapter is very well made. It feels robust and it looks cool too.
The cable is braided and what I love it the power charging port.
You can use an HDMI screen and charge at the same time using only one USB C port.
Well Designed HDMI Adapter with Charging Port.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! AAA+++
I got this for travelling with the Steam Deck as a dock is a bit big to cart around and as you can see in the photos it works absolutely fine and using the USB C passthrough connection it also charges the deck.
The construction is all aluminium and feels very sturdy. All the cables are braided and flexible, all the connectors are quality and solid.. The shrouds on the connectors where the cables enter are rigid plastic and not rubber, whether this will cause a problem in the long term with repeated bending is an unknown at present.
This should work just as well with a laptop or tablet as long as the USB C port supports video out. The Amazon Fire Kindle does not and just gives a weird error message about moisture in the charging port.
In conclusion a good quality compact item that is ideal for travel or to throw in your laptop bag.
I hope you found this helpful
This is useful if you have a laptop with limited ports and you want to get the screen displayed on a proper monitor while still charging the laptop all from a single port. Note it does not fast charge Samsung devices as it doesn’t support PPS so even if your charge supports it, it’s not going to charge at max speed on a Samsung phone.
This device is not small. The nylon braided cables are substantial, but retain enough flexibility to lie/hang fairly neatly on your desk. The bodies of the plugs and the device itself are made of attractive matt grey aluminium.
Used with an iPad Pro, as I am doing, this lead should allow me to view the video output from the iPad whilst charging it at the same time. For anyone without the Magic Keyboard, which has an auxiliary charging port, this is a life saver as otherwise you are at the mercy of the internal battery when connecting anything other than a charger to the side USB-C socket.
Unfortunately, when I tested this adapter, the picture on my Dell monitor occasionally broke up if the charging lead was powering the iPad at the time.
Put simply the adapter should add an HDMI output to my iPad whilst at the same time allowing it to be powered from an external supply. It succeeds in adding the HDMI output, but when the charger is connected output is not as reliable.
I appreciate that any number of factors could be causing this problem from issues with my particular iPad or the charger I am using, to electrical spikes on the mains. I am therefore subtracting only one star from my rating, as without this problem this is a very useful product. In fact changing the charger improved things considerably, so I would give it a try.
Had a sneaking suspicion this might be a good option for an uber-cheap and portable Nintendo Switch dock even though it’s not marketed as such.
Pair with a compatible charger (this is the crucial bit, it needs to support 15v output at circa 2.6 amps) and a USB-C cable and HDMI, and you’ve got an ideal means of using your Switch away from home without forking out 50 for another dock.
Travelling quite a lot keeping things as light and efficient as possible is important for me. This item certainly does that as you can reduce the number of cables and rely on this item to perform the functions necessary in a straightforward and reliable way.
The cable itself is extremely well-made and feels really good quality. More importantly, the output is excellent and at least the equivalent of having individual cables for each job.
It packs away very easily and I’m extremely pleased with it.
Allows charging and HDMI at the same time which is perfect for what I needed, I take my steam deck on all trips so I can connect to the TV and stream Movies/TV.
This adapter makes it possible to do that while also charging the deck which is needed as theres only one port on it.
Charges at full speed, and the HDMI output is as expected (4K is possible – but the Deck struggles with 4K Games of course), but for video streaming sites its fine.
Seems to work just fine for HDCP content as well.
My only slight complaint is that the headline image makes the box int he cable look very small.. In reality its bigger than the HDMI connector. See the attached photo.
Its still the lightest smallest solution to the problem I have found so far and perfect for that I need.
I have a few cable adaptions from this manufacturer and feel well made products. The housing on the parts are metal and not metal effect plastic. The parts are well grounded too as you don’t get that “EMF buzz” feeling in your fingers when handling them whilst in use. The cord is also braided for strength. The build quality of these is important to me as I travel with these adapters a lot and so they need to hold up to a little rough and tumble whilst in transit.
I’m only able to test the power up to 65w as that’s the limit to my hardware. The image shows a lower power draw than that stated but it matches the consumption when plugged in directly. I’m only also able to confirm the HDMI socket up to a resolution of 1080p as I don’t have 4k hardware, but I have no reason to disbelieve the claimed specification, this is just my personal experience and ability to confirm.
I have no reason to believe this item won’t last a good number of years so I’m happy to recommend and buy from this manufacturer again. The packaging suggests cheap but the actual product is anything but. I have no reason to believe this item won’t last a good number of years so I’m happy to recommend and buy from this manufacturer again.
I sometimes need to give presentations from my laptop but my laptop is the light weight type without an HDMI socket. I’ve been using a USB C to HDMI adaptor, but my laptop charges via the same USB port, so I haven’t been able to charge and present at the same time. This adaptor solves the problem and allows me to charge my laptop at the same time as I’m feeding a video signal to the screen via the HDMI socket. The plugs and splitter have metal cases and seem solidly made. They’re connected by fairly thick cloth covered cables.
It’s a bit larger than I was expecting with the central splitter unit 60x28x10mm and the whole thing including the plugs is 305mm long.
The HDMI port is described as supporting 4K video but I don’t have a 4K monitor to check this, however it works fine with HD (1920×1080) video.
This splitter works well and is well-made. The braiding is good quality and seems durable. It comes in a cardboard box, with a friendly (but a little strange) message from the manufacturer (basically saying to contact them if you aren’t satisfied with the product and they will help to resolve the issue).
The splitter works great to connect smartphones to external displays. I’ve used this with my Google Pixel 6 Pro. The connections seem fine and I’ve not had any issues with interference.
My one concern is that it doesn’t say if there’s any warranty for this product.
Just be aware that the extra USB-C port is for charging only (not data transfer), but it does fast charge. I can’t confirm the exact charging rate (it says 100W in the product description), but my Pixel says “charging rapidly” when plugged into the USB-C port.
