Have debated getting one of these for years and don’t regret it, this was 85 well spent. It was easy to build, took about half an hour and you get decent quality tools with it for the build. It’s robust feeling, easy to adjust and has a decline setting too. Padding could be thicker but it does the job.
I’m delighted with this. It was easy to put together and seems very solid and stable. The key at the front is very stiff though, which is a shame as that is integral to folding capability. I’m not sure I will be able to fold it easily (hence the 4 stars).
I don’t have much to compare against here, as I’ve never bought a weight bench before, adjustable or otherwise.
However
Did my due diligence read lots of reviews on various benches around the price point I was looking at and this came highly recommended.
Build quality seems good, it’s a wood peice of kit. Mostly put together on arrival barring the foot rest which just screws in place, not too sure about the longevity of the plastic twist knob that holds it tight, but I guess we will see.
Overall pleased with it, will update this review on a month or two once it’s had a decent amount of use.
Why did I buy the older model over the newer one? This one sits 16.5in off the floor, the new one which is also cheaper is higher. Something. To think about when buying a bench (apparently)
I was afraid that its going to be small, I’m a tall guy , close to 6.2, so i was afraid that it will be too short for me and that my head would be hanging over the edge LOL 😀 this is not ideal as it bad for your neck, turns out it PERFECT SIZE FOR ME, ideal for working out on upper body , lover body and full body workout. Perfect to have if u missed few day at the actual gym due to work or else what.. Solid material, doesnt wobble, and easy to fold . Great product, worth every penny i’ve spent on it. I RECOMMEND IT!!!!!! ALL 5 STARS!
So pleased with this it’s great quality easy to put together. Can be stored easily by removing the two pins and leg bolt takes literally minute or so. It’s so safe and easy to use by myself and my husband who is 6ft tall….its very stable and comfortable. Definitely worth it’s money
Spent a bit of time looking for a good exercise bench, looked at this one a few times and decided to go for it, I did see a few negative reviews but thought I’d see for myself, my first thought was how easy it was to put together, it just unfolded and with a couple of location pins put into place there it was, ready for use, the cushioning could be a little thicker but for me it’s fine, I’ve used it in most of the different positions and had no problems whatsoever, it looks well made and good quality, for the price I think it’s a great workout/exercise bench.
I got this in the Black Friday sale, so I’m happy enough with it. The size is good if space is an issue. I like that it’s easy to set up and has the number of increments available.
The material is woven plastic, NOT LEATHER, as advertised, which is a pretty big error/lie, if that’s what you’re expecting. With the lightweight aspect comes the fact that you really need to distribute your weight carefully if doing, for example, 45 chest-supported rows, because it can start to topple.
I’m 6’1 and it feels a bit small, but that’s necessary for my limited living space.
After hearing various nightmares on other, similar products, I think you are always cautious. Really pleased with this, nice quality and does the job perfectly. Easy on the eye aswell!
Versatile, very comfortable, good appearance. Very easy to assemble. You can adjust both sides, the sit and the back. Good value for money. I’m a quiet heavy person and this bench can take it.
I am happy with the purchase as I sit on this when doing my weights. Strong and sturdy but I’ll advise you I’m 5’10 and 66kg and it feels narrow and the seat length a couple of inches short.
If you are a larger frame, I’d think carefully about the size of bench you buy and would advise against this one.
Great back support, sweat proof and wipe clean easily. Folds away, string yet light to lift.
Brilliant value for money. Super light and easy to assemble. The only thing I’d point out is its not as sturdy as what you would find in a local gym however thats not something to deter you as for the price the product is great.
Okay where do i start. Its not worth 119 for a start. Good bench but having decided to buy one i reviewed many makes. This one kept coming up tops. I had one from argos which made me think all benches were of similar quality. So I went for it. Fortunately the other day on Amazon it dropped in price to 101, I also had a voucher for 25 from Xmas from my employer so it only cost me 76 in the end which I would say is a fair price. I sold my Opti bench i bought from argos a year ago to buy the flybird. The quality is a grave difference meaning the opti feels very sturdy in comparison. I wanted a bench that folds up, the Opti didn’t do that. If it did i would have kept it. Real solid bench and great cushion comfort. Anyway having said that I’m very happy with the flybird. Nice looking, it is strong easy to use and quite lightweight, less than 10 kilos i think, so easy to move around. The only issue I have is the cushioning. Its good but would prefer it a little bit thicker. I also now understand the issue with the head support people are saying. I’m 5ft 8 and 75 kilos when doing flys my head is beyond the board. I i still manage to support it enough to exercise with the barbell. Any taller i would struggle. It has a nice feel to the makeshift leather, and the metal feels strong and it is so easy to change position. It is low enough to do step ups which is good, the Opti was too high for that. When doing decline sit ups i feel the leather wouldn’t last on the seat part as the back of your knee puts a lot of strain on the leather as its not that thick and i think with a lot of sit ups it will eventually tear. I’m bench pressing 60 kilos and it holds that weight fine on flat or incline. To be honest in comparing the Opti bench to the flybird, the Opti feels like a man’s bench and the flybird looks and feels more for the ladies or teenagers. It looks small when I look at it and didn’t look at all strong. But it is and feels solid. I think I’ll enjoy it, more so that your seconds in being able to change position for whatever you doing. And it folds so easy and fits in the corner. I gave it 5 stars as it is a good bench for beginners, and it does look good and feel nice.
Reasonable build for its price. I haven’t noticed any issues regarding sturdiness, although it’s only been subjected to about 88kg (my weight + barbell/dumbbells). If I remember to, I’ll update if/when I reach a problematic weight. Folding is a matter of removing three pins, so it’s a matter of ten seconds at most, although you may wish to loosen/tighten the nuts at the pivot, but they’re extremely easy to access with an adjustable, so it won’t add much time.
Quality piece of kit, felt light when delivered which worried me at first but then became a big plus in moving it about later. The quality feels good, from get go, you know you choose well, and it’s got a good sturdy feel – no doubt. I’m 6ft and fit but heavy boned (whatever that means) – this thing could handle me no problem and could easily handle a taller heavier set too. That said there no is fat here, it’s obvious the product has gone through a number of positive iterations to arrive here – all aspects, assembly, adjustment, storage are worked well and simple to do. As with somethings in life you quickly wonder what took you so long to take the leap. One down side literally, was the decline, was going to take a star off as position is extreme, but that’s not fair as it’s extreme for me, I’m sure the more agile will work that for super decline bench pressure – enjoy
As soon as it’s out of the box it is fully assembled other than placing the pins in to set the position of the bench it is a joy and sets your mind at ease as opposed to unknowingly poor self-assembly could mean a grave injury! I have been using this for the Olympic barbell bench press at around 80kg for sets, it has been great and very sturdy no complaints. I bought this bench primarily for its adjustable nature of it compared to other benches, while it has many great incline angle options, there is only one decline option which is not to place the arm into the given holes to prop it up. This angle is unusable for anything bench or chest related. However, I was able to adjust by placing plates under the head of the bench for a more suitable angle as seen in the photo. I am happy with this but your mileage may vary in terms of sturdiness and safety.
I’ve used this 3x a week for over a year and it’s still looking brand new. It’s durable, easy to assemble and folds really small. It’s sturdy and has been a superb addition to home gym. The position to hook your feet in for sit ups is a little uncomfortable, but I rarely use it for that. If you’re looking for a versatile, value for money, fold up bench that’ll last, this is the one. I never write reviews but this is actually really good. I highly recommend.
I was looking for a good quality folding bench to improve my workout routine. After reading through a number of reviews I decided to get the Flybird bench. It’s lived up to my expectations so far, came fully assembled, just needed to be unfolded. The process to unfold and setup the bench for use is quick and straightforward, it took a little learning at the start to see which level to use to set it up for each workout but that is a once off. The bench is quite sterdy and manages to handle my 80kgs plus 20kgs of weights without a problem.
Lots of sections to bolt when using. When in decline need to give it a little push to put in place firmly or gives your neck a surprise when lying back in decline with two dumbbells in your hand. It’s quite bulky and it doesn’t really fold up so takes some space. I think for price there’s definitely room for important but overall it’s of very good quality and does it intended job very well so I am happy with purchase so far and would recommend as good.
I have had the bench for over a year now and used regularly every week, around 5 times a week.
It is great value and folding it away in an apartment allows us to keep our home looking like a home and not a gym (condition from my wife). It generally has enough adjustments, including a decline which is great.
The bench is a touch short for me when doing certain exercises (I’m 6ft3in) but has never stopped me from any position.
Two downsides are that the red lines on the bench can transfer on to your clothes. And today, the strap came out (pic attached) and the entire weight of the bench crashed on my bare foot (ouch). The rings holding the strap failed. The language was colourful and so is my foot now!
I hope the manufacturer gets in touch with me!
Had this bench since May 2021, its been ok for my gym activities, however, my only critisms are as follows: I think the bench would benefit from being able to “lock” the bench whilst using for straight incline or decline work. A number of times when lifting heavier than usual the bench almost folds, if that makes sense? The bench could be slightly bigger overall. I’m only 5′ 8″ but on occasions feel the bench could be bigger when doing pressing work.
The bench is very good for home gym and very sturdy. The adjustment is a bit fiddly, with 3 bolts to secure each time. Also seems to scratch bars each adjustment too. On positive side I’m 100kg and happy bench my max weight on this without any concern. Stores away nicely in compact spaces. I needed to return because since stitching on the seat was loose on arrival. As I needed to reorder I decided to instead buy the newer model which is a little longer, which is helpful if your over 6 foot. On the newer model the sliders to adjust are far superior too, with only one bolt to insert.
Building it was easy and didn’t take very long, it folds up to be relatively small although I’d hoped it would be smaller.
Things I’d like to improve are that it feels a bit narrow. My shoulders feel like they’re too wide for it. It also feels a bit short, I’m around 5 8 and I’d say I’m near the limits for usefulness. If you’re closer to 6 or above I’d look for something taller, and if you’re shorter than me you’re fine. Another potentially big issue is that if you sit on the very end the weight seems to make it fold up slightly which could end badly of you’re carrying large weights and it shifts unexpectedly. For reference I’m around 75kg
