It could cool better.
I ended up adding a GPIO driven always on 40mm fan to the top as I felt the pi was getting too warm.
I don’t think this is the fault of the case in as much as it was within acceptable temperatures, but I wanted cooler so that I could overclock.
If I was to do it again I would choose the version without the inset PWM fan and benefit from the larger cooling surface of the continuous fins, then add the 40mm fan on top.
I’ve had a couple of these before and I knew how good they are, and it didn’t disappoint. Simple, intuitive construction, with multiple options for cooling (pads if you’re in a hurry, thermal grease if you want optimal cooling), this case is an absolute steal for what it is. The chunky, milled aluminium is enough of a thermal tank by itself that my Pi 5 server’s hardly ever got hot enough to start the fans – but it’s great to know they’re there if they’re needed.
And on the subject of milling, nice work. Perfectly flush on all sides. Precision construction.
The only thing I’d wish for is that since I’ve already got one of these for my Pi 4, it’d have been nice to be able to get it in a different colour than black so I can tell them apart.
Fan cable a little longer than needed but aluminium cover fitted fine. Thermal pads easy to fix. Not sure there’s a lot left to say except I bought this “case” because the one for my Pi 4 was also excellent.
Si vous avez essay le nouveau RaspBerry Pi 5, vous avez d constater que ce nano-ordinateur, bien plus puissant que son prdcesseur, a tendance chauffer quand il est un peu sollicit.
Ce “botier” m’a donc attir par sa capacit le refroidir la fois passivement et activement.
Le montage est plutt simple (aucune notice n’est fournie, mais le descriptif comprend une vido dtaille) : on appose aux bons endroits les tampons thermiques autocollants, puis la petite plaque en cuivre (qu’on aura pralablement enduite de pte thermique, fournie, au recto et au verso) sur le processeur, on branche le connecteur du ventilateur PWM (il va tourner plus ou moins vite en fonction de la chaleur des composants mesure par le RaspBerry) et l’on fixe le tout avec les 4 vis.
Tout ce dont on a besoin est prvu (y compris les outils) et il y a galement des rhausseurs pour rehausser les ports GPIO.
Le ventilateur est plutt silencieux, mais apporte bien un plus : j’ai test quelques tches un peu ardues avec et sans lui et j’ai not alors une diffrence de temprature sur le dissipateur.
J’aime bien l’ide que le botier fasse office de dissipateur, surtout qu’il est constitu d’aluminium, mtal connu pour sa bonne conduction thermique. Le ct ngatif de cette approche est nanmoins que l’on ne pourra pas le rouvrir cette protection sans dtriorer le systme de dissipation passive constitue des tampons et de la plaquette de cuivre recouverte de pte thermique.
Autre point positif : le fait que l’ensemble en aluminium soit viss autour du RaspBerry lui apporte une bonne protection contre les chocs.
En conclusion, mis part son ct quelque peu non rutilisable, j’apprcie ce botier qui devrait, je l’espre, protger longtemps ma sympathie framboise.

Al momento della recensione, non ho ancora ricevuto il Raspberry Pi 5, quindi non ho avuto l’opportunit di provare la custodia Geekworm in azione. Tuttavia, basandomi sulla mia esperienza con case analoghi per il Raspberry Pi 4, posso fornire alcune impressioni preliminari.
Innanzitutto, la custodia progettata per essere compatibile con il Raspberry Pi 5 da 8GB / 4GB. La combinazione di raffreddamento passivo e raffreddamento attivo un aspetto positivo. La custodia stessa agisce come un dissipatore di calore, offrendo raffreddamento passivo, e la ventola fornisce un raffreddamento attivo, contribuendo a una migliore dissipazione del calore. Molto comodo poterla disattivare quando non necessaria, magari d’inverno o se non sotto stress come uso abitudinario.
Un altro punto positivo l’accessibilit alle porte del Raspberry Pi 5. Tutte le porte, compreso il pulsante di accensione, la scheda micro SD, le porte USB, micro HDMI e il cavo GPIO, sono facilmente accessibili senza dover smontare la custodia.
Aggiungerei che i materiali in alluminio sembrano di alta qualit, la ventolina pare deboluccia ma solo con il tempo potr dirne di pi…
In attesa di ricevere il Raspberry Pi 5 per un test completo, la mia precedente esperienza con prodotti Geekworm mi fa essere fiducioso riguardo alla qualit della custodia.
Sehr schickes Gehuse mit aktivem Lfter, hab die Lfterkabel intern laufen lassen und das Package mit Kabelbinder an einer USB-SSD befestigt. Mein Raspberry Pi 5 zeigte eine CPU Temperatur von 60 Grad nach 10 Mintigem Stretest, damit kann ich sehr gut leben! Powerschalter des Raspberry bleibt weiterhin gut errechbar und wurde von mir in der Datei “etc/systemd/logind.conf” mit dem Wert “HandlePowerKey=shutdown” editiert.

Es gibt die unterschiedlichsten Raspberry Pi Gehuse fr alle mglichen Vorlieben und Einsatzszenarien. Dieses hier hat den grten vorstellbaren Khlkper, da das Gehuse selbst der Khlkrper ist. Zustzlich hat es auch noch einen kleinen Lfter, der erfreulich leise ist, und die Khlleistung noch weiter erhht. Und schlielich bietet es guten Zugang zu allen Steckverbindungen, was wichtig ist, wenn man mehr anschlieen will als nur HDMI und USB Stecker.
Bei Gehusen dieses Typs ist der Zugang zum GPIO Port oftmals ein Problem, gerade wenn man ein HAT aufsetzen will. Hier ist es von Vorteil, dass bereits zwei Stacking Header beigelegt sind, mit denen der GPIO Port so weit nach oben gelegt werden kann, dass alles drauf passt, was man sich vorstellen kann.
Auerdem ist bemerkenswert, dass neben den Wrmeleitpads fr alle relevanten Chips auch noch ein Kupferkhler und Wremeleitpaste fr den Prozessor beigelegt ist. Wer will, kann hiermit die maximale Wremebertragung ans Gehuse erreichen. Oder, wem das Gefummel mit Wrmeleitpaste zu viel des Guten ist, man verwendet auch an dieser Stelle ein Wrmeleitpad. Schn, dass man die Wahl hat.
Was fehlt ist eine Anleitung, wie man die ganzen Extras verwendet, was fr jemanden, der damit zum ersten Mal konfrontiert ist, vor gewisse Herausforderungen stellen kann. Glcklicherweise ist bereits bei den Produktbildern ein Erklrvideo dabei, das alle Schritte anschaulich darstellt. Damit ist dieses Problem also auch zufriedenstellend gelst.
Insgesamt also ein sehr gutes Gehuse fr den Anwendungsfall, dass man seinen Raspberry Pi als den Bastelrechner einsetzt, als der er gedacht ist, mit allen mglichen Erweiterungen, die man auch in Kombination mit diesem massiven Gehuse verwenden kann. Bracht man hingegen keinen Zugang zu den Erweiterungsports, dann ist vielleicht ein vollstndig geschlossenes Gehuse, das es ebenfalls in dieser Bauart mit dem massiven Khler plus Lfter gibt, der bessere Wahl.
Il case per Raspberry Pi 5 fornito da Geekworm molto pratico e semplice da installare. Realizzato con materiali di alta qualit, che garantiscono un’ottima durabilit nel tempo. Viene fornito insieme a pad termici da posizionare sui core del dispositivo , viti di fissaggio e pasta termica (non specificato nella pagina del prodotto). Si nota subito la differenza nell’abbattimento del calore, e diversamente da altre soluzioni passive , il calore resta costante grazie alla ventola posta sopra il case.
No instructions were supplied with this cooling kit but there is a video on the Amazon store page. Whilst it is not too difficult to fit if you have never done something like this before especially having to fit heat sinks, thermal pads and paste just follow the video and take your time.
Once fitted most of the ports are still accessible, the ones around the edge, (you are give some extenders for the GPIO pins to raise them above the case if needed) but some connections are buried deep and they need to be connected prior to fitting the case by threading cables through slots in the case body if you are going to use them.
In operation the fan was quiet and the Pi well protected by the aluminium case sides. I don’t have to push the Pi hard for my uses and didn’t notice any thermal issue with this.
It is reasonably priced and well built.

C’est videmment du refroidissement actif car un ventilateur se situe dans la partie aluminium.
Tout est fourni, on a des pad thermiques pour la RAM et les autres plus petits composants. Et galement une plaque en cuivre pour le processeur, accompagne par un peu de pte thermique.
Globalement trs efficace.
Le fait que ce refroidisseur se visse encore une fois, donne une impression de solidit qu’on ne retrouve pas ncessairement sur des coques en plastique qu’on ne visse pas.
