First time helmet wearer as was never taught as a kid to wear one and all my ‘role models’ didn’t wear one so I feel abit silly wearing one. That being said I chose this one for it’s sleek design, light weight, quality and value for money, it gives a good cranial fit with reasonable adjustments for even the biggest of heads. I found the straps to be well placed and it is comfortable. Just hope I get over the fear of being judged now.

I liked the look of the helmet but I was a bit concerned all the marketing photos of the helmet had no straps. Luckly reading comments I understood this was standard (maybe they should put this in their marketing blurb). Already rode with the helmet twice and it is very comfortable and stable. Easy to adjust before and during the ride. Recomend this to anyone

The Giro Elixir MTB helmet boasts several impressive features that prioritize safety, comfort, and functionality for mountain biking enthusiasts. Here’s a comprehensive review based on the provided information:

    1. Advanced Impact Absorption:
The In Mould Polycarbonate Shell with EPS Liner is a standout feature, effectively dissipating impact energy to minimize the risk of head injuries during crashes. The extended rear shape enhances cranial protection, emphasizing the helmet’s commitment to rider safety.

    2. Optimal Airflow and Lightweight Design:
With 18 strategically placed air vents, the Giro Elixir ensures optimal ventilation, preventing overheating during intense rides. The lightweight design adds to the overall comfort, allowing users to almost forget they are wearing it. This combination of airflow and weight is crucial for extended rides and enhances the overall user experience.

    3. Roc Loc Sport Single-Hand Adjustment:
The single-hand dial retention system is a user-friendly feature that allows for easy and quick adjustments, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. The emphasis on proper sizing is a crucial safety reminder, indicating the brand’s commitment to rider well-being.

    4. Reinforced Large Sun Visor:
The reinforced large sun visor is a practical addition catering to the needs of mountain biking. Its adjustability provides a broad field of vision, protecting riders from the sun, debris, and other elements. The inclusion of vents on the visor further enhances comfort by allowing airflow to keep riders cool and focused.

    5. Enhanced Reflectivity for Increased Visibility:
Strategically placed reflective elements demonstrate a commitment to rider safety in low-light conditions. Increased visibility is crucial for the safety of mountain biking adventures, and the Giro Elixir addresses this concern effectively.

    Overall Impression:
The Giro Elixir MTB helmet appears to be a well-rounded product catering to the diverse needs of mountain biking enthusiasts. Its focus on safety through advanced impact absorption and reflectivity, combined with features like optimal airflow, lightweight design, and an adjustable visor, positions it as a reliable and comfortable choice for riders. The attention to detail, such as the single-hand adjustment system and the reminder for accurate head circumference measurement, further enhances the overall positive impression of the product.

After a nasty tumble, I ditching my old lid for this sturdy yet feather-light marvel. It’s got a chin strap that snaps shut like a dream, and the visor adjusts on the fly to conquer sun or sudden downpours. Comfort is king after a crash, and this helmet delivers — it feels like an extension of your head, not a heavy burden. Don’t skip head protection, and don’t compromise on comfort. This helmet is the answer!

Excellent helmet that hits the usual giro brief.
Looks great. Wonderful Matt finish is lovely to the touch, with gloss branding highlights.
This is not my first giro helmet and as always, it’s fit and finish is top drawer.
It’s comfortable once on and easily adjustable due to the now standard turn dial at the nape of the neck. Straps are also easy but this is only a one-time adjustment anyway.
Comes with good packaging so it can be ideal to give as a gift.
The sizing is true to size and it’s easy enough to measure your head as shown, so that you can get the correct size.
Very pleased and I would always recommend giro helmets.

I have used Giro helmets before, and was actually looking for a replacement for my Giro Montaro which I recently wrote off in a crash. My Montaro did its job perfectly in protecting my head to the point it was only when I saw the damage to the helmet I realised I’d bashed my head, having been distracted by the fact I’d also broken my shoulder. This helmet is from a somewhat lower price bracket however I’m pleasantly impressed by what it offers for the money. It’s light, comfortable and fits well, aided by a one-hand ratchet adjusting retention system. The chin buckle also has a unique ratchet to tighten that I haven’t seen before and helps to get the fit just right without pinching your skin. Out on the trail although it isn’t quite as well ventilated as my Montaro it’s not bad at all and I had no issues with overheating or glasses fogging, although admittedly it’s hard to judge given the recent cooler weather. The helmet fits a wider head size range than others I have owned, with the consequence that it can look a little bulky on smaller heads, and its very understated looks may or may not suit your taste but I didn’t find either aspect troubling. I could nitpick and say it would be nice to have a MIPS liner or removable sweat pads, but given the price bracket this helmet sits in that’s probably unrealistic. What it does offer is a solid, comfortable helmet from a well-known brand with a proven safety record at a very reasonable price, and I have a smashed helmet to show that Giro can definitely be trusted.

This is an excellent helmet from a trusted brand. Immediately comfortable, it is a doddle to get the perfect fit, with a dial at the back of the helmet to make one-handed adjustments to the tightness of fit around the head and even a sliding ratchet on the chin strap. No exaggeration to say this is one of the best-fitting, most comfortable helmets I’ve ever had, straight out of the box. Quite light too, for a multi-purpose helmet. The MTB-style peak is also a bonus for keeping the sun (and rain) out of the eyes on any ride, making this a great commuter helmet too. There are lots of unheard of brands touting helmets on here but do yourself a favour, get one from an established brand like Giro, so it know it really meets safety standards and, at some time in its development, has actually been crash-tested. You’ve only got one head, so invest in a PROPER helmet like this one.

For mountain biking an enduro style helmet is a solid option, as the extra protection at the back of the head. I’ve been using Giro helmets for a few years and the Giro Elixir aligns with my overall positive experiences.

Fit is as expected with plenty of adjustment available if needed with the ratchet wheel at the back being easy to reach and use. There’s no adjustment for the angle of the visor, but it’s out of the way as default so not an issue for me. Comfort is good and the venting allows plenty of airflow avoiding heat build-up.

The Elixir is a good quality option from a reliable brand, my only concern is the lack of MIPS which I would hope to see at this price point.

As another review before me already said this helmet is a bit big on the outside. If I set it to the largest setting, my head is just lost in it. But it can be set easily to sit securely on my head, and to me it doesn’t look too bad. (59cm head I’m wearing on my neck). The chin strap is long and it’s easy to fasten and unbuckle. The sun visor protrudes quite a bit which is good in my opinion, keeps out the sun rays as well as rain. The rotary dial on the back is a bit hard to reach, at least on the smaller settings. The vents on the top are quite large, I wonder if it will bother me much when raining, but it will allow for good ventilation in the summer. There is no insect net however which combined with the big vents might irritate some. Solid helmet for a reasonable price.

The profile of this helmet is quite large so not my favourite design. My head looks very small when wearing it. Not really a fan of the long chin strap buckle, kind of a strange design. However it fits perfectly as can be adjusted very easily at the back and I guess as bike helmets go it looks ok. Have faith in the brand too that this item will perform as described.
