Bought to monitor the temps in an outdoor cold frame, this thermometer is very compact and came with a sticky pad which stuck easily to the inside of the wooden cold frame and seems very secure. The display is simple and very clear to read and the app can pick up the readings from indoors but only if standing by the window that’s closest to where the thermometer is but for me that’s not an issue and I’m very happy with this thermometer.
I bought two of these when they were on offer (paid 17.49 for two). I also bought three “Switchbot” outdoor thermo hygrometers. As far as I can see, both devices use high accuracy sensor devices from Swiss manufacturer Sensirion, which is why I bought them. Looking at the data, the claimed accuracy seems reasonable. I prefer the Govee units because (a) the app is a bit more polished and (b) the Switchbot devices only report RH as an integer whereas the Govee units give you 1 decimal place of resolution. See the RH graph which I have attached which compares data from 3 Switchbot units and 2 Govee units.
In a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ I’ve only got this to work with my Govee 1500 Watt heater and it works beautifully with that.
+ Despite its small size, the display is very clear.
+ Bluetooth integration works excellently with the app if all you want to do is monitor temperature and humidity.
Things I didn’t like:
– Bluetooth range wasn’t 200 feet, but it wasn’t bad at all.
– The pricing is a little disingenuous with it being 20 with a 35% off voucher. This is basically a 13 hygrometer.
Do I recommend it?
Absolutely. Excellent little device.
Govee products are always great value for money and this one is no exception. It’s pretty small, but good build quality and nice screen – the app is honestly very good, the thermometer paired instantly with no fuss and it syncs quickly. The data is great, seems accurate, and the graphs of temperature and humidity on the app are nice to have.
I mainly bought this to pair with the Govee humidifier and it works seamlessly – the Govee ecosystem seems to be on par with Apple honestly. Once the thermometer is linked to the app, I just linked it with the humidifier and job done – the humidifier automatically turns on and off to keep my humidity setting.
Absolutely fantastic bit of kit!
Pretty good – so good I ordered 4 more, and with a further 40% price reduction on two of them (wish I’d spotted that earlier).
Definitely recommended.
The software briefly had issues with connecting, possibly related to having two devices waiting to be paired but the third device was added easily. There doesn’t appear to be any means of downloading the recorded data but that may appear once I’ve set up an account.
The display is excellent – first time I’d seem an E-Ink display and it couldn’t be clearer, at any viewing angle.
Accuracy appears good – two units in the same location displayed the temperature within 0.1 C of each other with identical humidity readings (the app showed they were within 0.2 %).
The app provides a calibration facility which allows the temperature and humidity readings to be tweaked up or down, compensating for inaccuracies. Without some known standard this is likely more useful to eliminate the minor reading differences between devices at the same location.
I’m not sure why some appear to have had issues with accessing the battery.
On the base (the thicker end) is a small slot. Holding the unit face down with the slot nearest to you, Insert the tip of a small flat-bladed screwdriver and gently twist – the lid will pop open and can be lifted off. Remove the tab under the battery and position the lid using its locating pegs inside the unit and press it into place.
Likewise with the device falling over.
A sticky pad is provided which is large enough to fit on the back of the device so if you want it to reliably stand upright, cut a small strip off the pad and use that on the base.
Nice device, the e-ink display stands out nicely. Deices seem consistentlt calibrated.
Others have mentioned the challange of getting the back ouff to activate the battery ( just gently ease around the back seam).
Liked them so much that I bought another three!
This little device is currently just 13 (thanks to a 40% voucher offer), and for that cost it’s a bargain.
It’s easy to set up with the GoveeLife app – and if you have other GoveeLife products, it’ll link there too so you can combine actions between them (e.g. if this temperature, activate this device).
We also have Google Home ecosystem, and it looks like after a recent upgrade that the GoveeLife products paired can be linked there – and the Home app allows you to connect multiple devices from different vendors together… which is really interesting!
This product is really well made, and looks more attractive than other similar devices we’ve had. We’ve monitored several rooms of our home and the results – particularly humidity – were an eye opener.
I love the fact that the historic readings are stored, and you can look at trends – that’s really smart.
Overall, this is a great device – and with the current voucher offer, the price is unbeatable. Recommended.
Much nicer than the last one I bought which was larger and had a black surround, and which I resented having to display when it didn’t meet the style on my interior decor.
Really small device that looks great on the wall – it tracks temperature and humidity and sends it to an App via Bluetooth. The device can store a decent amount of history it seems as I only connect once a week and it loads all that weeks data – the box says 2 years worth! Would highly recommend and will be ordering 2 more for other rooms.
I ordered this to measure the temperature and relative humidity in my rooms as I sometimes get damp issues.
The device itself is smaller than I expected but don’t let this detract you, the display is amazing and so clear using the e ink that a smaller device doesn’t really make any difference.
It was easy to download and connect the device to the app, and I am amazed by the distance that this works at as even in my living room I can download the data held in the device which is better than I thought considering it uses Bluetooth.
It takes 4 aaa batteries that are not supplied.
The app displays the temperature, relative humidity, dew point and VFD. It can display over a hour, day, week, month and year. It can display in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.
The device itself can either stand upright on its own or be stuck to something nearby using the supplied slef adhesive sticker.
It is an accurate, easy-to-use, and feature-rich smart sensor, the e-ink display is clear and easy to read, even in low light
The only thing I didn’t like about the thermometer is that the base isn’t as stable as I would like it to be. The sensor tends to tip over if I touch it lightly.
This is a nice sized thermometer measuring just under 6 cm square. The screen is clear and easy to read and the single button on the top allows you to change between Centigrade and Fahrenheit.. It has a flat but slightly angled base so you can place it on your desk and it leans slightly back so as to give it a better viewing angle, however if you’d prefer to stick it to a wall or another surface it comes with a sticky pad to place on the rear.
When you’re ready to use it you need to remove the back and pull out the plastic from beneath the battery. The tiny manual is a little lacking with the instructions and doesn’t help with getting the rear panel off which can be a little tricky. Once the plastic is removed the readings spring to life and you can either just leave it as a stand alone thermometer/humidity display or you can download the Govee Home app on your phone which allows you to connect to the device via Bluetooth.
The app is quite straightforward to use and linking to the device is easy. This will allow you to set threshold alerts for upper and low readings and will also provide a history of readings.
The only downside for me is that there’s no backlight on the thermometer which would make the screen more easy to read in low light but that gripe aside I really like this gadget and highly recommend it.
GoveeLife Bluetooth room Thermometer.
What with not wanting to waste gas for the central heating it is very handy to have one or two of these in different rooms to accurately check temperatures around the house and not be using excessive amounts of heating unnecessarily.
With these thermometers you can also download their app so you can see any changes in temperature without having to go and check the thermometer, this is only available via Bluetooth and not WiFi so you can only check it if you are within Bluetooth range and not if you are away from home.
Overall, these are very good accurate thermometers but are quite expensive and would have been much better value if they connected to your home WiFi.
Nice compact Hygrometer. You can stick it to the wall or have it free standing, although it is just about on its tipping point due to the design. I found if you go to press the top button it falls over, although that was only needed on initial set up.
You have to pull the back off to remove the plastic between the battery and contacts to get it started. It takes a bit of force though.
The Swiss made sensor is a real bonus. I use it mainly for checking on damp rooms and in my fish tank room, plus I also use a dehumidifier to aid with water evaporation over time.
The display is really sharp and clear, even without a backlight.
Room temp and humidity sensor is all I need.
The app also allows you to set alarms for both humidity and temp, plus you can calibrate the unit if you want to go that far. I suppose you’d have to have very expensive pro tools to do that though or send it off for calibration, let’s face it no one is going to do that, so let’s trust the Swiss made pedigree.
Nice, neat, compact instrument. I love it.

This is a really nice little piece of tech – it’s got a lovely “e-ink” display (bit like a Kindle) which is bright and easy to read. It’s tiny – about 2″ (50mm) square and looks cool on your desktop etc. It pairs with the Govee Home app (download to your phone/tablet if you don’t already have Govee equipment) via bluetooth (the Govee system has many many components and so if you can’t find this Thermometer/Hygrometer as you’re scrolling though the options you should just type “HJ5105” into the search bar!). Once you have the app installed you will pick up temperature, relative humidity, dew point and VPD measurements to view in nicely laid out graphs – and so if you are a data fanatic then this is another great set of data for you to harvest! It’s perfect for when you want to gather some detailed information about a particular room or office or store etc. The only slight disappointment (hence I’ve removed a star) is that there is no wifi connection and so to collect the data you have to be pretty much in the same room and then the app will download from the device via bluetooth. If this isn’t a problem then it’ll be perfect for you but if you want to monitor a place remotely then it’s not ideal.
Top tip – the device runs on a CR2050 “hearing aid” battery (apparently lasts a year) and you have to remove a spacer to get it to start running – however there are no instructions about removing the back of the device to do this. It actually looks/feels as though the grey base should lever off but thats not the case – the back of the device has to be removed. Nearly broke the base at first until I realised that the back panel clicks/slides off. Should make that clear in the manual!
