I’ve been using this for 2 months now, over winter, and it’s of excellent quality.
It has a decent capacity for seed so I’m not having to fill it up too frequently.
The feeder has remained waterproof despite some awful weather, and the birds in my garden seem to have no difficulty feeding from it.
Happy to recommend.
Solid and instead of a feeder that lasts half a day this one lasts a couple of days. The top slides up and over so you can fill up and also stops rain water going where all the seeds come out, keeping the seeds dry instead of getting all messy and horrible to clean.
To sum up, keeps exposed seeds dry, easy to clean, good size if you have many visitors, strong and sturdy.
This is a properly large feeder, so one thing to factor in is how easily accessible and edible the food is. You don’t want food to go off inside, so be careful on the size of the seeds you put in. Once it’s full, it’s very sturdy and unlikely to get knocked off by rowdy jackdaws or crows. Cleaning it is really straightforward, and because it’s so large, there’s no issue getting your hands inside.
This feeder is very sturdy, easy to clean & requires less filling as the container is quite large & there is little spillage. Perfect for sunflower hearts which attract a great variety of birds.
We are being frequently visited by a squirrel who is a real cracksman or a fitness trainer in a squirrel world. It had been able to rob every bird feeder we had despite all our measures to protect them. Until I bought this one!
This is a brilliant bird feeder, and one that feels like it will last the test of time! Feels incredibly sturdy, and is made from metal, but not overly heavy for what it is!
This feeder can take a lot of seed!! Much more than we’ve had before in some of the smaller feeders – brilliant for not having to take regular trips to fill it up. Also the design appears to keep the food fairly dry, which is another bonus as it means not having to clear up messy wet seeds as much!
Nice colour options, could be gifted to a bird enthusiast or anyone keen on feeding their local wildlife.
5/5
So, I’ve had this feeder for a few weeks now. It seems really well made and well designed, reasonably robust (I’ve had no issues so far!) and the birds seem more than happy to use it. It is hung from a branch using some wire (not included) rather than the handle provided, as I wanted the feeder to be further from the branch, and works very well. It was easy to fill and is the easiest feeder I’ve ever had to clean (which, of course, is a vital part of feeding the birds as it prevents the spread of diseases).
A tad more expensive than some other options, for sure, but in my opinion well worth the extra spend.
This is a good quality metal feeder station. It allows several birds access at once with six holes to distribute the seeds from.
It’s larger than the average bird feeder so takes more filling (but less topping up). Also very small seed can dispense quickly into the outer trough. A good mix of different seeds should be fine though.
It has a large ‘roof’ to help reduce rain water but it also come with instructions and is easy to unscrew and dismantle for washing.
We are lucky enough to have a large garden divided into areas, one part is very much a wildlife area. We like to feed the birds all year around and even more so at this time of the year (November) when other food sources are more scarce. We are regularly visited by robin’s, finches, sparrows and various tits as well as larger birds like doves, wood pigeons etc.
This bird feeder has a huge capacity so will satisfy the apatites of all the visiting feathered friends and I won’t be constantly be having to go out to fill it up in the cold and wet. With such a large capacity it also means the bird feeder is easy to clean as I can get my hand inside the seed container.
The bird feeder frame is constructed from metal which has drainage holes in the seed tray with a sturdy plastic seed container. The lid as a decent lip overhang so help keep the seed dry and easily lifts up to allow quick and easy access to top the bird feed up, with no fiddly screws to undo.
The item comes in a decent presentation box, so will also make for a lovely present for anyone that loves birds visiting their garden.
Well built bird feeder that comes in its own box ready to be able to gift.The bird feeder is well made and looks very sturdy.
It is larger than others Ive seen and it will take a fair amount of seed to fill.
4 stars from me. Need to see how it fairs in the english winter.
While you can get cheaper bird feeders, you do mostly get what you pay for. In this case, for just a few pounds extra, you get quite a leap in quality. It’s really well made and the pictures on Amazon don’t really do justice to the finish.
What I like:
* Quality construction
* Easy to fill
* Easy cleaning
* Great instructions
* The hanger holes are away from the feed (should keep it drier)
That last point is quite important as the existing feeder hangs from a centre wire which allows water through the cover, but this one keeps the feed dry and less messy.
The only thing was that I had some concern about the smaller holes for the feed to drop out. We use a mix of sunflower hearts and crushed peanuts which don’t always drop in the feeder we have, and this one has proved to be fine. The drier feed definitely runs out better as I’d hoped.
We have a sparrow colony, blue tits, cold tits, and long tailed tits, plus robins and goldfinches – all of which seem to enjoy the current mix. The hanger is also shorter than the feeder it’s replacing, so I might have to extend it with some garden wire.
All-in all though, I’m very impressed by the quality, and the birds certainly appreciate the free-flowing dry food!
Large bored feeder with a wide lip around a gravity feed. Noit won’t perturb squirrels. It won’t feed Cardinals in the UK either. Marks off for the silly photoshopping of bird species that don’t exist side by side. Can be taken apart easily to clean.
