My adult son still plays the Minecraft game on occasion but very definitely has a great love for the Lego Minecraft range – by now I think we could call this an obsession. He was super excited to get his hands on this one and build it up as it is a good few months since he built any Lego but as this was a smaller kit he could find some time and space to build it up.

The build is split up into 3 sections, each of which relate to one bag. This makes finding the all important bricks for each section so much quicker and easier when you are building. The printed instruction booklet is super easy to follow with clear images helping you along the way.

I am obsessed with the Ghast – anytime Lego do one of these mechanisms that launch discs I spend far too much time playing with them. I would say those discs go a lot further than you would imagine so try and release them in a controlled environment so they don’t get lost!

I have been informed it was a great build and he really enjoyed it and then he beetled off upstairs with it to get added to his display with a huge grin on his face.

Yes, we are both AFOLs (Adult Fans Of Lego) and proud of it.

    Number Of Pieces: 352
    Approximate Price Per Piece: 0.09
    Build Time – 1 Hour

Apologies my memory card corrupted so I lost the images of the finished model and it is now in my Adult son’s room as part of his Lego Minecraft display so has been broken down somewhat to add to his diorama in different pieces.

Premium quality sturdy LEGO pieces ensuring durability and lots of hours of playing times as expected from this made ,attention for the details and many building freestyle options outside the dedicated topic.I know there’s nothing better than LEGO in terms of quality and durability but I wish they could find a solution for better prices and greater affordability.

The attention to detail in the building toys is impressive, capturing the essence of the game’s iconic Nether Portal and bringing it to life in the real world. The battle scenes are incredibly engaging, sparking imaginative play and endless fun for both boys and girls. I like how the set includes iconic characters and mobs figures from the game, allowing kids to recreate their favourite Minecraft adventures right at home. It’s the perfect gift for kids 8 years old and up who are fans of the game. The quality of the toys is top-rate, ensuring durability and longevity through hours of play.

I loved Lego as a child and the quality is still there they are exactly as I remember but with a lot more additional technical parts. My early sets were pretty much basic building blocks with the odd wheel etc.. Now the sets have the additional technical parts needed to complete the models look. My nephew is a fan of Lego anyway but he will love this Minecraft themed set for sure. The instructions are in a good quality glossy booklet and the pictographic instructions are easy to follow. Not that you have to follow the instructions of course you can go freestyle and let your imagination. Lego provides lots of learning opportunities, improving hand eye coordination, thinking skills etc.. Though you can mix up the sets with your general stash of Lego I will be encouraging him to try to maintain the kits integrity as Lego is so bulletproof the opportunity for it to be used by generations is there, so much better if the set is made as useful as possible for others to enjoy without being confronted with a mass of bricks, I doubt it will happen but got to give it a try!

Minecraft and Lego is always going to be a winner. This particular kit is for 8+ and to be honest isnt too taxing.

Cost is the usual LEGO kit price….. always on the high side. That being said, it is all integral and its stood the test of time.

4 stars from me. Good kit just seems a little high in price.

My kids love Lego and they have accumulated a ton of different sets over the years, which they’ll play with until they get bored, and then repurpose the bricks to make new creations. I’ve previously bought a Lego Minecraft set for them a few years ago which they loved building and playing with, hence I decided to look into this set which seemed relatively simple for my 7-year-old to put together. In comparison to the previous Minecraft set, this set is smaller, it comes with 3 packets of Lego bricks per build, which includes the portal, the ghast and a hoglin. The instruction manual is fairly thick but easy to follow.

The complete build took the kids approximately an hour, with the portal landscape taking the longest time, particularly with the mushroom trees and rocky terrain which did confuse the kids a little. The hoglin was perhaps the simplest to build and only required a few bricks. In comparison, the ghast had a rather intricate inner brick placement, which included the disc firing mechanism which actually fires at speed and goes a good distance.

The kids did enjoy building and playing with this set, it kept them busy for most of the afternoon. Considering Lego sets are relatively expensive, at 32 this seems good value. This will definately be appreciated by kids who love both Lego and Minecraft.

My kids and grandkids have played with Lego for decades. You know you are getting a quality toy with possibilities only determined by your own imagination as you do not have to build according to the instructions if you’d rather go rogue.
I was a little disappointed in the dull colours of the box but I think that’s because I’ve been surrounded by Lego fairy castles and Harry Potter scenes for ages and those boxes are more vibrant and therefore, to my mind, more interesting. However, I wasn’t getting it for me but a 10 year old boy who should get plenty of play value from this – I’m not opening it as it’s his gift, BUT!! In checking it out I discovered the Lego Builder App and it’s brilliant! I’ve been able to watch how to build the pieces into the Minecraft shapes using the interactive 3D instructions! So much more interesting than the printed instructions in my opinion. I’ve just watched how to build the entire set and been able to move the pieces around on my phone screen so I know the 10 year old will find the build ok to make and will enjoy the interactive pieces. I’ve been able to see how the ghast and hoglin work without having to open the box and check them out.
Minecraft suggests a minimum age of 7 for the game so by suggesting 8 years and upwards for the Lego set, I think Lego have pitched the age well.
At just less than 32 it’s at the lower end of the Lego price range and will be a good interactive toy.

I’ve obviously heard of the computer game Minecraft before, as I’ve had my own children over the last 15 years or so, but I never realised until now Lego did their official version of the game? The location of this “Nether Portal Ambush” is interesting and there’s some great brick build models. The colours are nice and the bricks/characters which have movement in them work well! I don’t know the names of all the characters to be quite honest, but my children do and particularly like playing with the “Ghast” in this set, which is like a large floating ghost-like cloud – This Ghast shoots fire charges with some force, so just be careful not to lose them? This set will apparently connect to other Minecraft Lego so my kids say, but we haven’t any others at the moment (but now they’re after more). As with all Lego the Quality and detail is Outstanding, but this one is quite simple to build so suitable for 8 years of age and upwards. My Children are over the moon with it and I think 31.98 is a Good Price for what you get – Let’s just say, it’ll keep them entertained for hours and enable them to role-play different scenarios with the characters – Just Brilliant! Thank you.

I belong to a generation where Lego worlds were crafted solely from imagination, using just a handful of basic bricks. It’s a bit disappointing to see today’s Lego sets come with precise instructions and pre-made pieces, leaving little room for creativity. However, setting aside these thoughts, this kit offers a well-designed and perfectly functional build experience. It transports the childlike imagination into the immersive world of “Minecraft,” which is undeniably enjoyable!
