B-Vitamins were at first believed to be a single substance. As the individual substances were discovered, the term B-vitamin was followed by a number suffix to distinguish between them.

Each B-vitamin has a different role to play in the body, offering a wide variety of benefits.

Vitamin B6 is actually a group of three substances – pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine.

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin which is excreted within eight hours after ingestion and therefore it needs to be constantly replaced by eating whole foods or by taking supplements.

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy yielding metabolism; normal functioning of the nervous system; normal psychological function; normal function of the immune system; red blood cell function; the regulation of hormonal activity; and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
