Does what it’s supposed to do. As technology is advanced over the years, it has rendered most sockets useless. This device helped me convert a VGA signal to HDMI, perfect for old devices and machines.
I always carry a multiport adapter in my bag, but this is a neater option for those monitors and projector that only work with VGA. It may not work with all monitors (I have found the llyma ones very fussy, but dell and asus not so.
In this case I wanted to use it with and old tv and it gives a fine picture with the need for those heavy double ended vga to vga cables and adapter. Also handy for the Raspberry Pi.
The review is for an HDMI to VGA adapter cable, approx 1.5m long, for connecting a newer HDMI computer to an older VGA monitor.
The build quality is in the budget category, but the nature of this sort of lead is its tucked away behind the screen/computer so less likely to be snagged or pulled. I would imagine shielding is limited, so may not be ideal against high interference items.
I found it worked flawlessly connecting a Win11 compatible PC in my workshop to an old VGA monitor, running at the monitor’s native 1024×768. Picture quality was on par with the old (non Win11 compatible) VGA only PC using a normal VGA cable to the same monitor. Obviously not as perfect as pure digital connections, but as good as any other VGA solution. I never tested beyond 1024×768 due to the monitor’s capabilities, and I would imagine higher resolution monitors would likely come with digital options, such as DVI, DP or HDMI, which I’d always recommend over converting the signal to analogue, then back to digital.
At just over 5, its difficult to fault, at least up to the resolutions I tried, although the shielding and overall build quality may not be suitable for all.
I often need to connect to old projectors at venues or legacy screens for my vintage computer gear in the studio. This saves me faffing around with convertors.
It’s cheap and cheerful, so I would not rely on it if you have to depend on it for pro work, but for the occasional time you need to interface between old and new this is useful to have at your disposal.
My reason for ordering these was I wanted to connect my laptop to my ageing monitor.

One of my PCs is an antique. It runs Vista (eurgh) and has a VGA port. Now I can hook it up to my HDMI switch simply, without the need for adapters and/or additional boxes. It only works one way, so you cannot plug an HDMI PC into a VGA-only monitor – I have tried – but from and old VGA source to a modern display, it is just the ticket. The picture is solid and as good as you could hope for, and if you get the resulting right, there’s not a lot to complain about. recommended.
Surprisingly, not all monitors or graphic cards for that matter have a HDMI i/p or o/p and we still need a VGA at one end. This is especially true when using a projector to a laptop.
This lead works perfectly and negates the need for an adapter.
Price point is very reasonable and the quality of the cable is excellent being fairly flexible also.
Bought this to test for an IT upgrade programme I’m carrying out to see if they are suitable for further purchases.
No fancy packaging with this cable, just a snap shut bag to keep it safe.
Cable was supplied with a small plastic cover on each connector for protection.
Connectors fitted nicely into HDMI and VGA sockets, no real play on either end.
Picture quality is good, no real evidence of noise or shadowing.
Verdict: Cheap and cheerful cable that does the job it’s supposed to do. Can’t complain at that.

This worked exactly as described and allowed me to connect a CCTV system that has a HDMI output to an oldish monitor with only VGA. Build quality looks and feel good and overall at 5.29 it is a very fair price but if you do not mind waiting a few more days for the delivery it is possible to buy it elsewhere even cheape

plug into back of your monitor/television with one end, the other end you plug into your spare usb slot on your pc – and then you have instant monitor on your tv/monitor.
easier than plugging in two vga ends
I have many monitors in my household that use newer ports like HDMI and DisplayPort, but I also have an older VGA monitor I used on an older machine. Unfortunately it doesn’t have any other output ports for video, so when wanting to use it with a newer host device that had HDMI input, I was flummoxed until I found this.
Simply plugged into the VGA on the older monitor, then connected to the HDMi port of my host, and voila, a fully working display was available.
This is great, as now I don’t have to throw away the older display just because of its connection being an older legacy one, so can continue to use it until I feel this machine needs a higher dpi monitor to go along with it in a few years time, thus saving me money now.
