Great item…..my son was complaining about wear shin pads with angle support and the strap that goes around your foot twisting and hurting his foot after a game but now no more complaining!
So my son says they are brilliant he has worn them
For a couple of matches doesn’t. Red sticky tape and everyone has stayed in place, he is a fussy kid so they must be good
Though these are described as ‘for adults & kids’, it’s worth noting the smaller print where it says ‘perfect for those whose shoe size is 5 and above’. This just about rules out my son, who I got these bands for, and whose shoe size is a little under that. The bands do technically fit, but they’re loose and therefore don’t do the job they’re designed for. So I’ve been testing these out myself until he grows into them.
The design is very simple. If you’ve used resistance bands, these will seem extremely familiar. The branding is fairly subtle, and while there’s a slight sheen to them, it’s nothing compared to the shine of the pads themselves. I got a black pair to match the team socks, but even if I’d gone for another colour I think they would’ve been fairly discreet.
They’re comfortable enough, but although they’re a little bit tapered, there’s nothing especially clever about the amount of pressure they apply, which is directly affected by where on your leg you put them and how broad your leg is. People with super muscles and tree trunk legs will find them tight, people with beanpole stick runner legs will find them too loose, and there’s not a lot of control to be applied. So size-wise, you are gambling a little on whether you’ve got “normal”-sized calves.
It’s a reasonably smartly presented solution, and I do like the fact that apart from the bands themselves, the rest of the packaging is entirely recyclable card. They look quite ‘pro’ in the way that they’re boxed. But as for them being a revolutionary new solution to the shin pad problems, I wasn’t amazed.
