Needed some racking storage for our airing cupboard as single wooden shelf a bit confining. I will be honest with you now, my WIFE put them together. She found it a bit of a task to start with but soon sussed out the technique & was up & running in know time. By the way instructions are included.
With 6 cages there are plenty of setup options on how you want put them together. My wife used 3 cages flat ways in the cupboard & with the option of using the top of those cages as another shelf she is now very happy that she can segregate towels, sheets etc into seperate compartments.
Well made product, nice finsh, all parts are included in the box. Beware when opening box that some parts may fall out, some did in our case but not complaining. Would highly recommend this product.
So glad I purchased. I find the cubes easy to put up and not so fiddly. They are really sturdy and convenient. We use them for when we are trading at markets to display our products.
This grid-like storage is so clever and super easy to put together. Really stylish in step form. Loving it so much that I’m thinking of buying again for other parts of my crib!
The mallet provided is fine, except the heads work loose (they screw on) so be aware they could fly off unexpectedly! When assembling check which segment is which. Mine were not labelled so it wasn’t clear they were different. That said, the unit was relatively straightforward to assemble, managed not to break any bones with flying mallet heads, and avoided hitting my fingers. So overall a successful assembly and the piece is sitting in the storage area as intended. Happy enough to have bought a second one for the same area!
I bought this to go inside a wardrobe where I needed a bit of structure to the space. It looks OK (not very neat corners where the fixing brackets overshoot the end of the unit) – am not sure I’d want it on display but it does the job fine. It holds a lot of clothes with no problems – I don’t think I would use it for anything heavy, like books, though.
It was very easy to see how to build it – it just needed a bit of brute force in places, but they at least provide a mallet to do this with. There are options on how to configure the cubes – I chose to build mine 2 cubes wide and 3 tall but there are other choices and it is very versatile.
If you’re looking for the perfect storage I’d highly recommend these wire grids which can be pieced together to suit your storage space and needs. I read that the fixings can be flimsy but I actually think they are very strong and used the hammer supplied to knock them tightly into place. I bought the 9 piece and was pleasantly surprised to see just how big each grid is but fits perfectly into a smaller space as you can see in my photo. If I was looking to create more storage space then I’d definitely buy them again, they’d be perfect for my art supplies as I could also make shelves to store paper.
I think they’re very good value for money and they were fairly easy to fit together.
Do not hesitate to purchase if you like the look of them !
UPDATE: I’ve probably had these well over a year now and used them the standard way in every application I could think of. They excel at holding A4 reference books, as few bookshelves will. But listen up ladies: if you want to unlock the true power of these, then chuck the instruction manual and get yourself a bulk bag of variety length zip ties. Zipties and these shelves (minus those evil little white connectors) are all you need to create AMAZING custom shelving for all of those super-annoying- yet-so-necessary kitchen items. See attached photo for my own creation. All I did was bind the various square flats together with zipties, and I now have my dream storage unit! In my opinion, this is a WAY better use for these shelves than just trying to find enough things to fill large uniform compartments. I’m so happy with the way this turned out that I ordered a whole other set to organize my plates and bowls, which are driving me crazy. The fact that these wire grids are so strong and so full of spaces gives you endless assembly options. You’re only limitation is your imagination! I had to update with this breakthrough because when I think of how much money and frustration I’ve spent trying to find kitchen organisers… the kitchen is one of the greatest challenges of every homemaker, and now we have a tool to help us get what we actually need at a fantastic price. Happy ziptying!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I swore I’d never buy this sort of thing after being frustrated by a version that was rectangular and plastic. These are SO much better! Impressive depth and height. Just wear any kind of gloves when assembling to protect your hands and use the wee mallet because it really helps! Very strong and accommodated all of my tallest books plus my husband’s large models. I put the whole assembly on top of a table for easy access, but you could use any flat surface. Each square cubby has a plastic sheet you can lay in it for a flat surface or leave out. You can rearrange them, but you need patience and the mallet to get the shelves free. Good for any application– dishes, pantry, linens, crafts, etc. I can stack 2 A4 filling boxes in one with room to spare. The white will hide dust well, but I’m particularly impressed with the way it holds heavy books and allows me to group them. A total winner. I’m trying to think of an excuse to buy another set!
