The item was perfect. You can cut down to any size. Plus has the grease filter with it for the hood. Have had this particular item from this buyer before.
Excellent product, good value and does exactly what it says.
Easy to cut to size and fit and big enough for almost any cooker extractor fan using flat carbon filters.
Easily trimmed to size, to fit kitchen extractor fan.
Carbon filter(black),sits on top of grease filter(striped).
I no longer have grease spots on the ceiling, & no lingering cooking odours.
Good value for money, compared to high street retailers.
My reasoning is that the linen part is a condenser to catch the fatty fumes, and that the carbon sponge will not be able to absorb the odours properly once matted in grease. The fact that there are two linen parts, just confirms that this is the manufacturer’s intention – two linen changes to every one carbon filter change.
I have worked with fume extractors before and they too use a condenser ahead of the active carbon.
Both filters, white and black spongy filter need to be cut down to size. I put the black filter first followed by the white filter and assume that this was the correct order.
I was experiencing lots of horrible cooking smells prior to replacing my current extractor filters now that I have replaced them I have noticed a marked improvement in the amount of cooking smells lingering around the house.
Only complaint was the lack of instructions regarding which filter goes in first.
Our rental property has a very old cooker hood and the grease filter is no longer produced by the manufacturer. When we moved in, the filter was dripping with oil and I was looking for a universal product to place it with. All the other items I bought were super thin and didn’t last very long. This product is thick and large in size so you can cut it to your needs. I cook several times a day (big family and all of them fuzzy eaters) and it really grabs the oil and prevents funny smells. I’m really pleased with it.
Arrived quickly and as described. I was able to cut out new filters for my cooker hood with no issues.
The reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is there is not enough carbon filter cloth to cut it for 2 vents, only one. I had to use both grease filters to cover my entire hood and so had to make the choice of covering one with the carbon filter or none. I’ve decided to go with none and see if it’s an issue, but that was a bit disappointing, as I was hoping this kit would cover everything with both layers.
Its usually best to remove the old ones then use them as a cutting guide for the new ones, you will also want to make sure you have something underneath the black carbon filter as it will shed carbon particles as you cut it – normal for carbon filters.
They have worked very well so far and were very easy to cut and fit, by having a couple of grease filters we have another for the next time we change them over.
DO NOT OPEN this item inside your living room like me. The black carbon filter will have lots of dust falling of and go everywhere, so open this item outside first.
Secondly use the white filter as your template to cut out the shape you need with this and it becomes much easier to transfer this to the black filter otherwise you will get lots of dust over your kitchen, Once you cut the black filter give it a small shake outside and you will be good to take it inside and fit it in.
I have been using it for only a few weeks so i cannot say home good it is at catching the grease but i suspect it will do the job well as it is no different to what i have purchased before.
A little note, the white filter has lines on one side so make sure that goes into the inside as it will look really bad if it is facing out, this may not be true for every cooker hood but my one looked really bad.
