Love this iron, it makes ironing so much easier and quicker. The steam gets creases out with ease, yes it’s big and bulky compared to a regular iron but well worth the little bit of extra storage space needed.
Simple to use, heats up quickly. I can’t find any negatives.
I will never go back to a regular iron.
Definitely recommend.
Great to use makes ironing a pleasure. Hope it lasts longer than my other one. Love the way it can be carried easily. I have no negative comments at the moment but I’ve only had it a few weeks.
Got this in Black Friday as it’s pricey but wow! Always had a decent iron paying around 70 but this is a game changer. Once heated up I’ve found I only need to go over everything once and because it’s all steam, no messing with temperatures or risk of burn or sticking. It’s great. Would like a longer lead to the plug but nothing an extension lead can’t fix.
A decent steam iron that is quite expensive for what it is but it does iron very nicely.
The quality is good, but the way it’s put together is a little confusing and I feel as if the water tank and such could be better positioned from a users perspective..
Settings can be tricky at the start.
Make sure you have the space to store this item as it’s huge. It’s steam iron with a large water capacity. It smoothed out creases in beast mode. Very impressive stream function and it operated very quietly, it makes ironing a lot easier. Not sure the price is right though.
We’ve all heard the saying, go big or go home, well this steam generator iron is definitely meets that criteria and is a beast of an iron.
There is a whopping 7.5 bars of power that produces 130g of continuous steam and if that isn’t enough, there is a 530g of single shot steam power to irradicate even the most stubborn of creases.
In operation, everything has been manufactured with simplicity in mind, as there are no complicated dials or settings to navigate through, you simply power it on and select one of three options, “Eco”, “Normal” or “Vertical steaming”. The generator takes a couple of minutes to heat up, but once it is up to temperature, it keeps you speeding through your pile of ironing with absolutely no effort.
The sole plate of the iron is very smooth and glides effortlessly across all styles of fabric and the iron itself is heavy enough to help smooth out creases, without being too heavy and cause fatigue.
The iron produces a continuous steam throughout the ironing process, but underneath the handle there is a button that you press to activate the power-shot of steam. This is particularly good for when you are ironing heavy fabric items like denim.
To keep the steam rolling, there is a huge water reservoir that holds almost 2 litres of water, which is roughly 4 times the amount of water that conventional irons hold, meaning that there is less time spent going to the tap and filling up the iron. Fill this up at the start of your ironing and it is unlikely that you will need to do it again until your next session.
When in use, with the exception of using the power-shot of steam, this iron is whisper quiet to the point you hardly know that it is switched on.
When you are finished ironing, there is a lock at the top of the steam generator that clamps the iron to the steam unit, which means you can easily carry it around. One thing to say about the iron is that it is rather large in size, so you will need a large cupboard or understairs cupboard to store it away.
A great feature of the iron is that it has an inbuilt anti-calc function which means that cleaning all of the collected limescale away is really easy. You simply remove the collection cartridge from the iron and rinse it under the tap and you are good to go. It does collect a fair amount of limescale, so I do tend to clean the cartridge every week.
I guess that the main issue with an iron such as this is the purchase price. Whilst on the surface it isn’t cheap at nearly 200, in actual fact, my wife and I had worked out that we had replaced our conventional irons a few times, so in fairness, there probably isn’t much in it, in terms of long-term cost. It is just that you need to make the initial investment on this product in order to reap the benefits and of course, what price can you put on the amount of time this iron saves you with your ironing pile. I would actually agree with the product page in that it does save you around 30 minutes of ironing each time you use it, based on how powerful it is.
One thing to mention, this iron does not have a water spray function within it. For me, it isn’t a problem, I have a water spray bottle anyway and in all honesty, you have the best of both worlds, as you are not using water from the iron’s reservoir, so you can keep going for longer.
This iron is an absolute pleasure to use and really does make tackling heavy creases easy. I am incredibly happy with mine and don’t think that I would ever go back to using a conventional iron again.
A really great product that works incredibly well and is very good value for money. Unreservedly recommended.
This is one of the best generator irons I have ever used, it has a large water tank so I don’t have to keep topping up all the time like a normal iron. It holds a good amount of water and the steam function is very effective. Place able to lock the iron when not using it for a bit, it de-scales without any cartridges, it glides so gently when ironing, the steam power is great and works very well, it does everything it say’s on the tin. Love this one it is quieter and love I don’t have to sort out ironing for different temperature settings as it goes from delicates to tougher ironing no problem. Place to store cables makes it much neater and easier to store. I am definitely recommending it.
Steam generator irons are always big beasts, so I confess the set up is too big and heavy for me – my husband has to do that but as I have arthritis. But wowser, once assembled and filled, it’s a dream. I actually find it better for my wrists than my usual iron but maybe that’s the glide technology malarkey. It doesn’t seem to need any pressure, yet wrinkled cotton is smooooth in no time. We tend to use pure cotton bedding in summer, particularly now in this heatwave, and I swear, it’s taken me just over 5 minutes to iron the lot. Fabulous.
It is big though, so storage is an issue, and there is the initial outlay, although this one compares favourably to the other main players, I think. Plus, so many clothing items now have modern fibres which don’t crease, so maybe this isn’t ideal for busy parents – unless you’re using a heck of a lot of cotton and linen. But it’s an excellent iron, really does the job so quickly and easily – and worth it for anyone without arthritis or with someone who helps with the set up!
I ordered this to help with larger loads of ironing. The steam generator is really easy to use, I make sure the water contained is filled up first, it holds a lot of water. After switching on the light will flash while it is heating up, then beep and turn solid blue when it is ready. The steam cable is long enough to keep the unit on the floor under the ironing board out of the way. It iron part itself is lighter than a general iron, but it doesn’t have the water tank in it so that makes sense. I hold the button under the handle to get more steam when I need it on tougher clothing. Great product overall.
Well this is a steamy beast. I wasn’t expecting something so huge. Actually the box is massive and the iron itself isn’t quite that big as the box would suggest but it’s still a big old chunker. If you are considering buying one of these then I would say your first consideration is to make sure you have the room for it.
The unit is quite attractive in a utilitarian kind of way. There’s obviously a lot of thought that has gone into the design. I like the locking mechanism on the top that locks the iron down so it won’t slip off ( particularly useful if you are moving it from place to place ) And I like that the plug is retractable. Just press a button and the cord goes right back in. On the side there is a lime scale collecter that’s going to protect and prolong this steam iron I’m impressed by the thought that has gone into the design of this iron.
So how does it handle? Fantastic! You have to fill the tank takes loads of water so you can do a lot of ironing without running out of steam ( pun intended ) The operation is really easy and is really impressive. The creases just fall out after a blast of steam. It’s a huge step up from a regular iron and a bit of a game changer.
I would say the only stumbling block that should give you pause is the high price but I would say in my opinion that it is worth it. If you have a lot of ironing to do this will be worth it just for the quality of life upgrade. If you have a big family with tons of ironing ahead of you this is going to speed things up massively and make a big difference. If you just live alone or don’t do a lot of ironing it’s not worth it. For those that do it is totally worth the price. The most valuable thing is time and you can’t put a price on that. This will give you time.
Honestly a bit over the top for what I think is necessary for an iron. It is an amazing product and does a multitude of steaming and ironing settings with ease, speed, and efficiency. I have never used a better iron. However it is huge and expensive. However if you are looking to spend some money and have the space for this unit of a base stand then this is a great product that I would definitely recommend.
This is fantastic. It is a little bulky but brilliant for continuous ironing. The water tank holds alot of water so no need to keep stopping to refill. The tank is easy to remove for filling and emptying.
Pressing the trigger on the handle releases bursts of steam. Ironing is effortless, the steam generator gives off so much steam even the most stubborn creases were easily removed. No need to change the temperature settings as the iron adapts to all materials. There is an eco setting, normal and vertical setting. This is so handy for steaming clothes hung on hangers or steaming creases from curtains. It also has a calcium filter which removes easily for cleaning. The flush stand is used to hold the iron when descaling (not as a stand during ironing)
The only part I was confused with was this red flush stand for eliminating scale from the iron. The instruction book shows to store on the base of the generater when not in use. After looking over fully for ages and not being able to work out where it went, some Googling the internet I realised this model doesn’t have the space to store the stand.
When you have finished using there is a clip that pushes up over the top of the iron to keep it secure. You can then carry the whole item easily to move, isn’t to heavy.
For the performance you get from this steam generator I find it good value. Made my ironing so much easier to do
I ordered this thinking it was just a normal iron. It’s not that.
I kept thinking it was a normal iron until it arrived in a massive box and weighed a tonne, and then I wondered if it was something different.
Here’s the thing: the iron part itself is fairly standard in terms of weight, shape and size. But it rests of a mammoth, heavy stand. You will need either a huge kitchen, or a lot of storage space.
It’s insanely expensive, and I can’t really work out why. It has a phenomenal steam function, so you can hang something up, and manually huff steam at it to remove the crinkles and creases, which is fab. But it’s not really anything your shower won’t do for free.
Alternatively, you can set it to standard ironing mode, and it’s brilliant. It’s absolutely the best iron I’ve ever used… but you’d want it to be for the money. It has a self-cleaning mode, and it does something clever with calcium (or, at least, protects your clothes from calcium, but the usefulness of that will depend on the sort of water you use for ironing.)
It heats up very, very quickly and if you’re going through boat tonnes of laundry, I can sort of see where something like this would eventually start to pay for itself: it is much easier, and quicker using this than pretty much any other iron I’ve tried, so there’s definitely value there if you iron a lot. But for a family of two that don’t mind the odd crease or six, it’s slightly wasted on us.
I think, ultimately, if you have the pennies, this is a phenomenal iron but if your ironing needs are fairly standard, and this would stretch you financially, I don’t think it’s worth the asking price.
Power hungry but powerful 2800watt desktop ironing system and 7.5 bar punchy pressure system is making the job whole lot of an easier when deliver continuous quick steam making your laundrette jobs less painful experience.Anyway this iron is true time saver and very effective. The water container is substantial meaning that there is no need for endless refilling. The steam quality is strong and powerful making just one stroke of the iron is needed to iron the clothes properly horizontal or vertical both . The actual iron is light and glides very well. Easy to use as there is no need to fiddle about with multiple settings as it has a simple on-off with an eco setting. No more calc problem thanks to calc collector design..Only downside is there is no retractable/hide option for the cables. Other than that this is one great piece of a small range household appliance for anyone looking to iron or steam on ease .Highly recommend.(Caution with steam ).
Tefal is a well known company and this is another excellent item.
I detest ironing yet I found myself breezing through a pile of ironing without moaning at all.
This literally glides through the ironing and I can’t fault it.
At first I thought this was expensive but after having used it I definitely think it’s well worth the money.
Despite appearing to be quite complicated, it’s actually very easy to use.
It makes ironing the sheets etc for my Airbnb so much easier and they look better too.
Only had it a few weeks but at this point, I would recommend it.
I’ve used a steam generator for nearly 20+ years and my good old trusty tefal finally packed up just over a year ago after 19 years. I spent a fair bit on a Russel Hobbs and at first it was brilliant, but over time just didn’t do the job.
This Tefal was recommended to me, and I decided to purchase it. I iron for 5 of us, so quite alot, especially work shirts, and uniforms. My average pile would take around 2-3 hours, but with this it has cut the time down. I’m not having to worry about filling it back up half way through and it has a boost steam function aswell. Its definitely worth every penny, and I hope it last as long as my other one did. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for one, maybe someone who does ironing for a living
Bought it on the recommendation of Which Magazine. Delighted with it, the only draw back is that fact that you have to lift the iron back on top of the tank when you want to move a shirt around etc., without resting it on the ironing board and causing a scorch mark. I have solved this by buying, on Amazon an iron shaped flat mat for this purpose, so now all is well.
Been using for a few weeks now and does the job well. Looked for one with good reviews which this has and it’s done just the trick. Water tank is a lot bigger than I last had so seems to last alot longer than before.
