Got this whilst it was on sale! this thing is fantastic. Mine is connected via an Earc connection and everything works flawlessly. Standard tv remote controls the volume. Audio quality is fantastic. The adjustment on the bass setting is unreal and really makes a punch! Am so over the moon with this and would recommend to everyone!
I was going back and forth deciding what the best system was to buy. I didn’t see many reviews for this system so I thought it would probably be junk. I thought to myself it’s Amazon, I can always send it back if it’s rubbish but I have thrown away the boxes and I’m definitely keeping it!! Set it up and it’s amazing! Great quality, great bass, everything about it is brilliant! 10/10 without a doubt.
This product is good value for money…if you buy it at the right price 169.99 … I added it to my cart at this price … but didn’t but immediately… when I went back I to my basket the price was 229.00 BUT if I bought it straight away there was 30.00 off ..and apparently this was the last day the “deal” would apply … so I bought it at 229 less 30.00 ..so 199.. goods delivered and set up all working fine … happened to check the details of the item back on Amazon and its down to 169.99 … looks to me like price establishing to allow a large discount to be shown…its a shame that this purchase has been spoilt a little by this “pricing” issue … other than that the kit is good and definitely enhances the sound quality of your TV.
I don’t normally review unless I really love something but had to this time
I’m an avid lover of sound and the tinny sounding tv after the previous system conked out as enough to make me give up and leave the room, I detested it, I told hubby I NEEEEEEED sound, so I searched for a decent sound system and shortlisted a few then it was down to reviews, this one had some great reviews (and I even learned something about myself and my need for decent sound lol) and so I bought it, simple to set up and the sound oh my word, way better than my old system (which was great in its day), bass that vibrates your internal organs and crystal clear sound from all directions, hubby started looking around when he heard birds from the surround speakers behind him, the sound was enough to nearly reduce me to happy joy tears after the crud I was listening to previously, movie nights are so good now and last night we put on a lovely deep reverberating track via Bluetooth and turned it up safe to say I am in love!
For the price and performance for a small room is brilliant. Easy to set up. Sound quality is very good. You can pay more for perfection but if budget is priority then take a look.
Highly recommended.
This is a great system but I found the volume control very limited for the cost (3 bass settings, 3 surround presets and volume that is deafening by the time you turn it up to level 4). My main complaint was that the lowest bass setting -1 was still fairly booming.
I saw review talking about a T019 firmware upgrade that gives you 2 extra bass options including turning the subwoofer OFF and leaving the rest of the speakers on. Sadly this firmware didn’t work on mine but then I realised it was because this is a V083!! And we can get an even better upgrade – V132.
If you hold the right side of your “surround button” on the remote and if your soundbar shows V083 you can benefit from the following instructions;
* Google ” Poseidon D60 Customized Software-V132″.
* Download the “update zip” (you don’t have to unzip)
* Put it on an empty USB stick.
* Plug it into the back of the soundbar and it will automatically update for a few mins and reset.
You will can now drop bass to -6!! (The lowest being subwoofer off) and all the way up to +6. You will also see the volume can now be fine tuned (like any normal electronic device on earth) from 0 to 100!!!
Very happy with this product now, I just wish it didn’t take such 2007 vibes graft to do it.
Bought these on a deal (about 175) and have been presently surprised at the overall sound envelope they create. Soundbar itself is not amazing but used with the sub and rears it’s a pretty decent set up for the money. Yes there are far better systems but for under 200 it’s very good.
I bought this as a temporary solution after selling my comparatively expensive system [Samsung] hoping to upgrade during the sales. Well I read the reviews on the ULTIMEA Poseidon and thought I would give it a whirl and I have to say at this price – I’m not disappointed!
Having tried it out over the last few weeks, I have decided to put off buying a new Samsung. OK, so there isn’t the ability to control the individual speakers to suit individual preferences and the lack of upfiring speakers may put some off – but what it lacks in bells and whistles IT SOUNDS PRETTY OK! It has been used extensively over the holiday period, listening to music, watching blockbuster films, old classics and regular tv, PlayStation and via Bluetooth. All sound great. It’s not perfect, but ULTIMEA seem to have built a 5.1 system that does a remarkable job. Watching films that are natively Dolby ATMOS sound clear and there is the appropriate amount of sound separation and the wizardry inside provides ample overhead sound. Speaker placement here is key, without having a way to balance the speakers individually – move th rear speakers around and you will find a sweet spot.
If you want a speaker system and not ready or able to spends hundreds of pounds on something to improve your to/video/gaming experience – it’s certainly worth giving it a go!!
And when this is upgraded, count me in ULTIMEA for a test ;-). Upfiring speakers and better control of each speaker individually, an App perhaps?
Really good system, loud and crystal clear very easy set up, I had to use my own hdmi arc cable however as the one supplied was cutting off at times but now system is all up and running it’s absolutely stunning, so so good for the price, I watched a horror film and it was intense as the door knocking came from one side of the room felt very realistic and perfect for the toddler for dance parties, only complaint is I wish you could switch the bass off separately but the only way I can do that is my switching the actual socket off but no big deal, the minimum volume can still seem a little too loud at night but can always resort back to just the TV volume very easily but honestly this system for the price and built deserves a 5* for sure
This 5.1 sound system is a steal for what you get and the quality it provides. Clear audio with punchy bass even with high volume, without damaging sound quality. I set it up with eArc for the first time ever just expecting to sound the same as the old aux cable soundbar but I was positively surprised.
At first the rear speakers would just produce a buzzing sounds for YouTube videos, but do make sure you update the firmware which massively improves audio quality and gives you even more bass, just need a USB stick and laptop/computer to download the update, just Google the brand and firmware update.
Been testing it out with a few things like Netflix, Disney +, YouTube, Spotify and PS5 gaming. They all sound 10/10 and I highly recommend it.
For PS5 just make sure you go to settings on the console and change the output to 5.1 and make sure Dolby Atmos is selected, you can also tweak it to show where your rear speakers are for a more accurate sound. Didn’t take more than 2 minutes to do so and games like Red Dead and Fortnite sound crisp and full of life!
I have a TLC TV and speakers volume CAN be controlled with the tv remote, but it takes 3 clicks on the volume to reduce/increase it by 1. I know, such a first world problem.
The speakers also have presets called EQs
EQ1 is for movies, 2 for Voice (maybe they mean news, podcasts) and EQ3 for music.
My favourites are EQ1 for video streaming and movies and EQ3 for music and gaming, which sounds louder and you can hear more of the “environment”, EQ 2 seems to turn everything down and just focuses on voice so I don’t really use that.
his system is excellent! easy to set up. good price. and the way the sound envelopes you is amazing!
i was a bit apprehensive as to how good the surround sound would be for the price. but using the HDMI ARC connection method, it is just a fantastic system!! highly recommended !!
I got this on the Amazon Black Friday 2023 sale for 175. The product was delivered the next day. The setup was quite easy and I connected all the speakers and placed them around my couch. I connected it to my TV using the supplied HDMI cable. This review is based on my usage for the past two days.
I have a 2018 Samsung TV, with only ARC and not eARC. So I am limited only to Dolby Digital and not Atmos. Still the soundbar was recognized immediately by the TV and the display in the front of the soundbar showed “Dolby surround”
I watched Avatar 2 in Disney+, animation movie in Netflix, Invincible 2 in Amazon Prime and many videos in Youtube. Following are my thoughts and feedback
Pros
1. In pure Dolby input like Disney+, the sound output is fantastic. The sub is punchy and the surround is fantastic. My son kept turning back for all the sounds in Avatar from the rear surround speakers.
2. On action scenes, the Sub did a fantastic job. I pushed the volume to 20. Could not increase it further without disturbing my neighbors. The sound field and the surround was very well felt. My fav setting is Eq 1, Sub at bass 0 and Surround at +1
3. Even at low volumes like 10 or less, the surround effect was very good and the sub was doing its job. Even though there is no dedicated night mode, the same can be achieved with Bass -1 and volume less than 10.
4. I am yet to update the firmware provided by Ultimea to improve the Bass. I will update this review once I update the firmware
5. Songs played through Bluetooth is great. The audio is much better compared to some of the videos I saw. The surround sound (though it is simulated) gave an immersive satisfying experience. Again my max volume was only 20.
Cons
1. In normal audio input like from Youtube, the bar tries to make it into a 5.1 but failed sometimes. I could hear few cracking sounds from the rear surround speakers only while watching Youtube videos. Not sure if there is a fix for this or it is because of my TV
Overall, this is a great system for 175 that I paid. I have not tested Dolby Atmos through it yet. I will update this review once I do.
Update after two weeks
Installed the T019 firmware to tweak the bass. The system is fantastic. I enjoy watching movies and songs in this system. The firmware gave bass levels from -2 to +2. This helps a lot with night time watching where the sub is off but the surround is still on. Gives a great watching experience. Great job Ultimea
