Quite unusual. It has USB ports for external devices and a built in card reader. Not many burners have these! Only downside I can detect is that the driver is very dated.

I needed this for so long and can’t believe we have got to a time where CD’s and DVD’s are what they are. I sent hundreds on music that i just couldn’t get to because my new laptop doesn’t have a drive so i can access them.
This little device has come in to save the day an i am now in the process of putting my music (some you can’t get on itunes) onto my computer and onto my devices.

For that i am extremely happy with this.

Even though DVDs are the in thing anymore, I still use and watch them a lot. Especially Blu-ray.

This works perfectly and allows me to watch all my favourite films and sitcoms with no issues at all.

It’s not extremely robust, so I have to be gentle with it, but that’s fine with me.

Set up is extremely easy and it’s been plain sailing so far.

I am quite happy with this and it works well with my slim laptop without cd drive. Most of laptops don’t have cd drive anyway. The design is slim and light. The usb ports are good extension for my pc.

This is perfect for traveling. I mainly use it to go camping, it’s nice to relax with a DVD movie after a long day of trekking.
It’s very small and light, portable and very easy to set up, it feels very sturdy, well made and the design is very well though out with a slot for tge cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact and light and sturdy

I’ve collected a lot of CDs and some are rare ones not available on streaming platforms, so really need this to transfer the music onto my phone. I also needed a card reader for my cameras and realised that this is perfect for that too, plus the extra usb ports! Most of the laptops nowadays have very limited usb ports so this feature is amazing! You can use them for charging too. A truly handy all in one!

Drive attached to laptop and recognised driver installed and it’s showing in explorer, drive identifies as Matshita UJ272, and don’t forget it’s not a UHD 4K drive but is full HD.

Now the initial problems hit (this may not be required on your particular machine, did on my laptop and not on my workstation), started up VLC and put in a Blu-Ray video, try to play it and VLC errors – don’t panic – copy the error message and paste it into a search engine and you’ll find the fix, do that one and you’ll get another error, same again and the fix is there.

That can get frustrating but it’s worth it, playing BD from it’s menu needs an older version of Java and the new ones don’t work, here it looses a star, but archived are available from other sites, simple BD playback is still available and high quality video and audio.

It does recognise 25GB BD’s haven’t tried a full disk write yet, it also reports R/W to all disk types except DVD-RW (rewritable disks).

I fell into the trap, power requirements. Easy test is see if you can eject the disk from windows explorer (right click – eject) if it errors there’s not enough power, it will still do simple BD playback on a low powered port, the way my laptop is set up the port accessible just didn’t have enough, plugged into the powered hub and away we go.

It’s got another plus, 4 x USB 3 ports and SD & CF memory card slots, making it a really good portable all-in-one. Even with the issues I came across would still recommend, just make sure your machine can supply enough power.

Great quality and doesn’t feel cheap. Has many USB ports on the top, and also SD card. Has either USB C or USB A for connection. Transfer rates are fast. Blu-ray drive reads disks with no issues. Overall a great product and highly recommended!

This was ordered to replace my external drive which has seen better days, has a lower spec and does not has the hub options. This arrived bubble wrapped inside a colour printed cardboard box and was well protected.

The operating voltage is 5V which is OK with a MBP but if I swop to a MBA then I will not be able to power it however, it has an independent handy micro USB power slot. Any PC with capabilities to power this will have two options through a two plug (USB-A or C) cable attached which folds away underneath in a cut out in the base of the unit. As much as I appreciate the space saving feature here, I am not that much of a fan as it can knock out two possible power supply plugs if it fails at the unit end of the cable and constantly folding it out and back in again does not give me confidence. This unit is designed to have multiple cables coming out of it at any given time so a power supply will not make much difference. Fortunately, the micro usb power port is a great back up.

The ports here are a great addition. 3x USB-A (2.0) and one USB-a (3.0) so speeds from 12Mbs/480Mbs to SS 5Gbit/s respectively. Two card slots Micro SD and standard SD.

In use, this is really quiet, even when burning DVDs, although this will be used primarily to archive old home video already backed up to DVD to an external drive. The read/write speeds are impressive. I have not tried a Blu-ray disk as yet but may produce copies on Blu-Ray as another backup in the future. Note that this will not play back 4k Ultra HD Disks and for other formats it is best to use VLC to play DVDs/CDs if you do not already have it. Also the web pages state checking your PCs compatibility with Blu-ray or 3D Media first using Cyberlink BD&3D Advisor software.

Apart from the tethered power cables, I really like this unit and it will get much use and be a permanent feature on the workstation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of options and quiet in operatio

If like me you have a laptop that has no DVD/Blu-Ray drive and a limited amount of ports, you may be looking for a device that can expand your options, well look no further!

This is a nice sleek little drive that has a cool look, the built in power cable tucks away to keep it neat and tidy. The only thing I’m not keen on with regards to its look is the “Yaeonku” print on the front of the drive, it looks very cheap but is not enough to lose a star. The unit is very lightweight and portable.

On the rear of the drive there is one TF slot and one SD card slot, great for people that have older cameras that want to download to their computer! On the top there are four USB ports, three are USB 2.0 and one is USB 3.0 so expanding your USB options nicely.

If you want to watch any kind of disc on your laptop this drive has that covered with DVD and Blu-Ray compatibility, it’s also a burner too!

Now I have a really old Lenovo laptop running on Windows 7 (yes I know!) so I was a little concerned about compatibility but I needn’t have worried, it was plug and play in seconds, no issues, USB connectivity is really fast and the drive is efficient and quiet unlike some similar drives I’ve had which clunk and scrape… I was also a bit concerned that my lappy wouldn’t provide enough power to run the drive, but luckily it did, although even if it hadn’t the company has provided another power lead so that eventuality is covered.

The picture quality is top notch by the way!!

So all in all, and I’m sure you can tell, I’m a big fan of this drive! If you have an ageing laptop or notebook with limited connectivity this is definitely the drive for you, it would also make a great gift for a relative, I’m thinking Mum or Dad.

I hope you found this review helpful, have a great day!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a great device!!
