I always enjoyed 8bitdo devices. I first was in search of an adapter to connect my Xbox controller to the switch for a more premium feel. This controller feels nice in the hands than other third party controllers. I kinda wish the battery was removable like the pro SNES looking controller(which I also have). The reason being when then battery can’t hold a charge I can just switch out for a new battery. However, it’s not a deal breaker especially the price you get for this controller. I do wish they can have more designs to choose from. I don’t mind the pastel but I saw a really nice Mario kart design by pdp that they did for one of there controllers. The 8bitdo anniversary controllers have some neato designs on their website. I will probably pick one up once they become available. The controller wakes the switch which is a plus. USB type c charger is included. These are probably some of the best controllers I have bought from a third party to date.

    Bought an Orange and Pink

I’ll call it an Xbox shape, with PS4 shoulder buttons, SNES d pad, in a Switch button layout.

Happy with the controller weight and battery life. Buttons are responsive enough. Analog sticks are good.

The orange color needs to be more distinct. It is too muted and close to the pink.
Slightly sharper edge on the bottom of the wings that I would like.

I also have the Pro Controller so I could compare it to the 8Bitdo one.

All the buttons work really well. No drift in the joysticks. About half the weight of the Pro Controller and a bit smaller. So if you have massive hands, the 8Bitdo can be a bit small. There is textured grip on the back of the ‘handles’.

The vibration feels better than the Pro Controller, it’s kinda hard to explain – it doesn’t just vibrate, it moves around a little.

Supports waking up the Switch, but it takes a bit longer than the Pro Controller – about 15-20secs.

Comes with a USB wire the same color as the controller.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI already own the official switch Pro controller but bought this as an additional controller for the kids. Really impressed by the build quality for the price, feels solid. Charges via USB-C just like the pro controller. The buttons and sticks feel very similar. It’s a bit lighter than the Pro but that works out well for my younger kids. For the price this is an excellent choice as an extra controller for your Switch.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI own several 8BitDo controllers. 2 of the wired PC controllers, and now a Switch Bluetooth controller from this new line. I personally love all of them to bits.

They feel like a quality product despite being a fraction of the price of the Pro Controller and similar 3rd party PC controllers.

For full transparency I’d like to mention that this controller has no amiibo support, and the rumble isn’t as powerful as an official Pro Controller. If either of these factors aren’t an issue for you, then picking up one of these is a no brainer. Get one.

    Almost Perfect in Every Way

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersFunctions just as good as the pro controller and better
Ironically, the Nintendo “pro controller” is notorious for having a horrible D-pad despite the fact that Nintendo was the literal innovators of the patent over 40 years ago. How is the “pro controller” ‘s D-pad so bad? Any old school 2-D platformer OR fighting game fan will tell you how important it is to press Left and not also go Up or Down. Or Press Down and not also be pressing diagonally to the Right or Left. This is the glaring flaw in the official and too expensive pro controller. This 8bitdo Ultimate C controller has a D-pad that works as good as Nintendo’s USE to work. It also has gyro (motion) controls and all the buttons are easy to navigate due to their placement. It’s super easy to sync to your Switch, has a long battery life, feels good in the hands and built well.. I had to buy 4 other Switch controllers until I found this one. It’s better than Nintendo’s own controller and it’s half the price. I never thought that I’d be saying that one day, but it’s true. For those frustrated with the official Nintendo Pro Controller’s bad D-Pad, buy this instead. Easily 5 Shining Stars.
