This wheel cleaner is easy to use and works great.
Just spread it on the wheel for a couple of minutes and it’s ready to be washed off.
This 1 litre bottle should last for a while.
This wheel cleaner is very effective. It is easy to spray on the wheel, and reacts with the dirt quite quickly. The liquid becomes red after a few minutes and this is exactly what the manufacturer describes in user instructions. Out of curiosity I tried using this spray and just wash it off the wheels a few minutes after applying. Even without brushing the wheels, the results were impressive as wheels became so much cleaner than before!
When using this cleaner with a bit of brushing, the results were even better.
Overall, this cleaner is very effective and quick. Hence, I’ll definitely continue using it in future.
Handy bit of kit and a great size of bottle. I usually just let me he rain clean my car but my heart sband likes all the lotions and potions to keep his one looking good so he’s been using it on both our cars and I have to give in and say it really does look much nicer than a rain wash. I have used quite a few Autoglym products over the years on various cars and have always found them good quality and easy to use, so I jumped at the chance to review this wheel cleaner. Due to the bad weather my car hasn’t been washed for a while so the wheels were quite dirty, despite looking relatively clean in the photo.
I followed the instructions on the bottle and sprayed the product on liberally, then left for 4 minutes. The bottle says that you can agitate the product at this point or just rinse straight off. Out of curiosity to see how effective the cleaner would be without any scrubbing, I just rinsed off with a hose after the 4 minutes was up and didn’t even get my wheel brush out. The results aren’t totally perfect but are really impressive for such a low effort process, and I’m confident that only a minor bit of agitation with a brush would have produced a perfect result.
So I’m impressed with the performance, and liked that the bottle came with a child safety device to prevent the spray from being activated if little ones get their hands on it. The not so good – it’s really quite pungent, with a very pronounced sulphury rotten egg smell. This is pretty standard for this type of product but the Autoglym cleaner seemed distinctly smellier than others I have used, however I’m willing to overlook that for the effortless results obtained. The only other issue I had was that the instructions say to rinse the product off your drive, however as you can see from the pictures it really goes a very vivid dark purple and left me with great big purple puddles everywhere, however they weren’t visible when dry, hopefully there won’t be any strange consequences for my driveway.
Overall I’m really impressed with this product, it’s really effective and doesn’t require much effort to get good results while promising to be gentle enough to use even on diamond cut wheels. It’s not particularly cheap but compares well with other premium brand car care products, and I feel the price is worth paying for the reassurance of a trusted brand. Recommended 🙂
This will clear no in particular is really satisfying to watch, have views numerous ways to be able to scrub the wheels on my car clean and none of them seem to get in there without using some serious product on it so being able to get hold of a proper wheel cleaner has changed the game completely. This is basically a case of spray on the product, scrub it in and wash it off in order to completely clear off any of that deep set dirt that you wouldn’t normally be able to remove.
Best recommendation though is to leave it to sit for the given amount of time or maybe a little bit longer than you normally would before washing it all off as the longer it sits on the more work it’s going to do especially if you have really dirty wheels.
Finding a product that tackles brake dust without damaging the wheels was a relief. This cleaner does exactly that, making a typically tedious task much less of a chore. Watching it react with the dirt is satisfying, and rinsing it off to reveal clean wheels is rewarding. It’s been gentle on various finishes, which was a concern initially. Regular use has kept my wheels looking their best without much effort.
I’ve never really felt the need to buy a wheel cleaner but I thought i’d give this a go and I must say I was impressed. It’s a huge bottle and it’s easily applied, you can watch it react to the dirt/grime and it washes straight off leaving tyres sparkling.
It’s obviously recommended you leave it sitting to do it’s work before washing off but happy with this overall
Item received in good condition in a large spray bottle.
The bottle comes with a good safety device built in to avoid youngsters harming themselves. The instructions are all on the bottle, the size of font could maybe do with being larger but nonetheless its all there to read and then action.
I am not one for really cleaning my car so my wheels were pretty dirty. All the pictures are from the same one wheel showing the progress.
1st is the wheel before any application
2nd is after spraying the liquid and leaving for 5 mins
3rd is after I used a scrubbing brush on the wheel and cleaned it
4th is after I washed it down with water and a quick wipe dry.
This whole process took about ten minuets and the result is amazing. This cleaned my wheel with such ease and removed the very long build up of brake dust and dirt effortlessly.
This product is amazing and works brilliantly.
After a quick rinse, spray all over the alloy and give it a few minutes to do its thing; the formula turns red as it reacts with contaminants; then rinse off and watch how easily it comes off.
I would definitely recommend.
Very easy to use, before you start washing spray the product onto your wheels wait for around 2-4 minutes and wash away. I don’t have a pressure washer so I just use a wet cloth to remove the excess product from my wheels the hosepipe didn’t remove. Its nice to see the product change colour once it comes into contact with all the brake dust on my wheels.
The product is on the pricey side however the product comes in a generous 1 litre size so will last many wheel washes and suitable for all wheel types. Overall good quality product and gets my alloys looking shinny and clean.
