I purchased this nest at the end of January. At the start I was very pleased. It didn’t take me too long to set up and was very simple to get started. The nest itself is very good quality wood and is well set out with a camera inside and a camera outside to also show birds entering the nest. I linked with the App fairly quickly and was pleased with the result. The quality of the image is very good.
I decided to mount this on a pole which was not included so I bought one separately. The hose clips provided were simple to attach, however once I tightened as tight as I could by hand, the nest was too heavy and still slid down the pole. I ended up having to use pliers to really tighten the clips so that the nest would stay in place. This slightly buckled the clips but at least it worked.
Other than this minor issue I am very pleased and it is an excellent bit of kit. Already within the first few days I’ve had birds come and poke their noses in for a view.
Unfortunately after a couple of weeks the device went offline. I brought it back inside to charge but it doesn’t appear to be charging and the power button doesn’t do anything. No lights come on. It appears the device is dead. I’ve emailed the company so hopefully this can be fixed but currently now unusable.
I’ve taken off 1 star for this as I may just be unfortunate. I have thought that this may be due to water getting into the nest and into the device, as the top corner of the nest doesn’t appear to be waterproof and there are gaps where rain could seep through.
Once I’ve had a response I will update.
UPDATE: They have sent me a brand new Bird nest and the service was quick with good communication – This now all seems to work perfectly. I did cover the corners with clingfilm just in case of rain damage but everything has been working for the past month – now I just needs some birds to nest!
I purchased the Birdfy smart feeder back in 2022 and have been really pleased with it, it’s a great product. When I saw the Birdfy Nesting box, I knew I wanted one!
Firstly, this certainly feels like a high quality product, from the packaging design, the way the product was packaged and the product itself. Everything was well packaged and thought through, there was even a ribbon around the top of the nesting box to help lift it from the box with ease.
The Nesting box itself is sturdy and well finished, and the cameras are neatly concealed but easy to access for charging and initial configuration.
The nesting box comes with a range of different fitting accessories, meaning it should be easy to install in various locations.
It also comes with different size predator guards so you can change the size of the entry hole. This will be helpful if you want to attract smaller birds.
The user manual and quick start guide look to have enough information for me to be able to install the product with relative ease.
Setting up the cameras using the Birdfy app is straight forward. Once you have created an account it’s just a case of scanning a QR code on the product and following the on screen instructions.
The Birdfy app itself is very intuitive and user friendly, and has a great community section on it where you can view clips from other Birdfy users.
I have yet to install the Nesting box but can’t wait to do so, and hopefully I won’t have to wait too long until I have some new occupants!
I will update the review once installed and hopefully with some screenshots of occupants.
This is the 3rd Netvue product I have, I have to say it looks rather sleek. It was fairly easy to set up, the video on YouTube really helps too! I have it to replace an existing video bird box that only could be viewed live in black and white. It’s a better upgrade the photos are very clear night or day! I’ve put it in my tree where I’ve had previous success with Great Tits, it was easy to put up there took 5 mins. Down side is it takes ages to charge up over 10 hours and although it’s in a sunny spot after 1 day battery was down to 89%. May need to work out wiring it to the electric as can’t really keep bringing it in to charge with chicks in it! Overall im really pleased with it and after only a few days I’ve already had Blue Tits checking it ou
This is a great, well-built device with clearly a lot of thought behind it.
Some points to improve during installation:
When putting the bird feeder together, we struggled to get the device to pair with the app and after 1 hour of messing around with support, youtube videos and leaving it alone for 10 minutes we got it working.
Additionally, the camera on the outside which you have to screw wasn’t flush as the screws would not go fully into the bird box. We had to silicone the gaps to keep away water ingress.
Now the device is installed in the tree, it is connected and charging with no issues, and we look forward to welcoming birdy families 🙂
I have the birdy feeder and when I saw the birdfy nest I knew I wanted one. It has arrived and is such good quality everything has been thoroughly thought through. The instructions in the box were not very detailed but if you google installing birdfy nest there are some very helpful videos. Now I can’t wait for my bird family to arrive, hopefully spring
Well made and easy to put up. Nothing too fiddly. Connected easily to house wifi.
I used the medium size hole and faced it north east. Excited to see what happens.
Being made out of wood, this product from Birdfy feels a little more robust and looks much more stylish than the Bird feeder we have (also from Birdfy). In short, its design is beautiful.
We had a few issues setting up the device, the QR code from the app was quite hard to scan with the camera, but after we got it up and running, everything was fine.
It arrived with a little scrape on the lid of the Nest, which we can touch up with some black paint, but being quite an expensive we thought it would be good to highlight this.
There is a subscription fee to use the cloud based recording. We already had a subscription from a netvue indoor camera that we transferred over to the Nest which was pretty seamless.
The cameras provide a very clear picture when testing them out, and the onside camera gives you a clear picture in the dark since it has internal lighting on the camera itself, so no need for night vision when having the camera on display. I am looking forward to setting this up in the garden and will give a follow up review after it has been out there for a couple of months.
Overall so far, I would say the product itself is a 5 star item, I am only rating it 4 due to the chip in the lid and the fact it took about 30 mins to scan the QR code.
