We used numerous of these male cat8 connectors. It was a little tricky with our cable that did not have the color stripe on each white wire, but we spent a little more time to check each connection.
Overall, very good for the price.

very good pack for the price

I doubt anybody enjoys assembling RJ45 cables, and so I thought I would give these a go.
The quality of the connectors are very good, and once assembled, the strain relief does mean they feel very solid and will withstand the rigours of an office network.

These differ from others, in that they have a small ‘load bar’. The idea is sound: You can use this to load up the cables before passing it through the main plug….the problem is, it just makes the job fiddlier in my oppinion. However, it might be good for a novice to networking.

As the quality is very good, these get 4 stars, but it’s not a product i will want to re-order.

These Cat8 connectors have simplified my networking projects like never before. Installation is a breeze thanks to their pass-through design, allowing for swift and hassle-free termination of cables.

What truly impresses me is their durability and reliability. The shielded design ensures minimal interference, guaranteeing a stable and consistent connection. Additionally, the strain relief boots offer extra protection against cable damage, ensuring longevity for both the connectors and the cables.

Whether you’re dealing with solid or stranded cables, these connectors provide a secure fit, eliminating concerns about loose connections or signal degradation. With a generous 20-pack, I have more than enough for various projects, making them a cost-effective solution for my networking needs.

These are good value for money, especially as they include the strain relief boots.

As you can see, though, an RJ45 crimp tool for Cat.5e may have the additional punch to crimp the plastic conductor strain relief catch in the plug. These plugs, for thicker Cat.6 cable, don’t have that catch, and no gap for one, so can’t be crimped directly with one of those crimp tools. If your crimp tool doesn’t have the option to remove this extra punch, a workaround may be to put the plug partway in on the “wrong side” of the crimp tool and crimp the terminals there instead, as shown in one of the photos.

Unlike some of the other shielded connectors, these are pretty easy to fit. The newer strand-through type fittings are SO much easier than the old way of lining-up and cutting exactly, before crimping. Makes life a lot easier and the job a lot faster. The boots are also the easy to push type, not the booted ones that take a pair of pliers to open!

There is an included quick-reference guide and the box is a handy addition for storage. Considering how expensive the normal big-brands are, these are a steal. Would certainly recommend.

Properly crimped, these do the trick. Connections using them have been solid and the cables have been inserted / removed a lot. If you know what you are doing with the crimping, I would recommend.

In my experience, you probably don’t need “Cat8 rated” gear for a home/small office network, but if you do these are decently priced. They come with everything you need (apart from a crimping tool).

Price wise, they are a bit pricey at 50p per connector, but if you need the Cat8 speeds they are not so bad. If you are looking for connectors for your home/small office there are more affordable connectors on the market.

But if you are looking for some easy to use high quality Cat8 rated connectors. Pass-Through connectors have been the “game charger” imo, every since trying them I refuse to go back to the older style because it makes sizing up how much outer sheathing to strip off and after thought.

These metal shielded RJ45 Connectors come in a decent handy Plastic storage box – not loose in a bag like some offerings.

The plugs are metal clad with an integrated wrap around metal clamp for clamping to the cable’s outer sheath. A step towards better EMI S/FTP shielding.

The strain relief boots are perfectly serviceable, though I’d prefer the strain relief end to be a bit longer.

The load bars were provided in a small self-seal bag to prevent loss of the fiddly little things. On that note, I got 23 – so 3 spares 🙂

There’s an excellent guidance leaflet provided, covering both T568A and T568B.

When wiring, I found that the load bars can be fiddly to get loaded, so I used a Rolson Helping hand magnifier/clamp tool to hold the load bar (see pics), freeing up both hands to feed in the wires. Such a tool is only about 7.50 on Amazon and so useful..

I can’t vouch for the Cat8 performance claims for these plugs as I only have Domestic Cat 6 (for now…). However, the metal cladding will help towards the Cat 8 rating. At Cat 6, they perform well.

    Pros :
    Good quality connectors
    Metal clad and clamped
    Useful storage box
    Passthrough
A few Spare load bars included.
    Competitive price

    Cons:
Longer strain relief boots would have been nice

In summary, a good set of quality RJ45 connectors, useful leaflet.

The Cable Matters 20-Pack Shielded Cat8 RJ45 Pass Through Connector with Strain Relief Boots came the next day.
The set came in a plastic box with enough clips the to fit 20 Cat 8 ends .
I found them easier to use then the non pass though type and with this set you can easily make up new cables to suit your needs or replace broken ends making it a very useful set to have.

Excellent kit for making your own ethernet patch cables. These have all the required shielding to meet Cat 8 standards but the assembled cables obviously remain backwards compatible.

You will need your own crimping tool and either a flashy set that cuts off passthrough wires, or a set of sharp flush cutters.

The passthrough design does make it slightly less fiddly but like all the ones I’ve made in the past, they are still a faff at times. The main advantage I’ve found is reliability of making a sound and working cable. Other connectors I’ve used invariably result in the odd duff lead when tested. I’ve used this whole pack now and the resulting cables were all perfect first attempt.

The connectors come in an easy to store box that protects them before assembly, so ideal for those that want to make up their own cables, or repair broken connectors on others.

There are 3 components, the plug, the strain relief boot and a load bar to simplify installation. There are instructions on how to assemble the plugs along with colour codes for both the T568A and T568B wiring standards.

Assembly is fairly easy and the load bar and pass-through of cables out the front of the connector makes it easier for those that may not have wired connectors before. On ordinary RJ45 connectors, its a frustrating learning experience to find out how to get the cables in the right order, keep them flat and cut them to the correct length so they go into the connector properly. On these connectors, most of those frustrations are not an issue.

After preparation of the cable, which is glossed over a bit in step 2, since it doesn’t show the individual screened cable pairs that need to be separated and foil removed. The trick here is to nick the foil (but not the wire), like you would with kitchen foil and it then tears easily and can be removed.

You then lay out the wires in the correct order and feed them into the load bar, which keeps them in place whilst you push the load bar into the connector, hence ensuring the wires stay in the correct order. This does mean that there are two places where wires can get stuck during assembly though, so make sure you straighten the wires properly during the prep step.

Once the wires are pushed in, you crimp in the normal manner using your chosen crimp tool, then wrap the metal strain relief around the wire and tighten it in position, again with your crimp tool or a pair of pliers, taking care not to damage the cable.

Now all that is necessary is to push the strain relief boot into position. This works fine on CAT8, but with older cable, it will be narrower and not grip as the cable so you will be relying on the metal strain relief.

The only two remaining steps are to cut off the wires that protrude out of the front of the connector, either with your crimp tool if you are lucky, or a craft knife or a pair of wire cutters.

The cable should then be tested with a cable tester, but I guess most will just push it into the equipment and see if it works.

I am happy to recommend these connectors, particularly for those that may not have wired RJ45’s before, just make sure that you also have suitable CAT8 cable. Note that there are two types, one which is more flexible as it has stranded cores and is intended for patch cables and one which is more rigid and has solid cores, which is used for the structured cabling and is not recommended for making patch cables – although we all probably have a couple kicking around like that.

Not really a lot to say about an RJ45 plug, but then it’s easy when they are good like these, bad ones are a pain. So far I’ve fitted 16 of these and not had a bad one, that’s a pretty good strike rate in my experience.
I know pass though plugs are not everyone’s favourite type, especially where using POE, but for my use without POE all is good.
5 stars because they do what they say, their failure rate is excellent.

Arrived as part of the Amazon vine review programme.

I was actually quite impressed with these. They arrived neatly packaged in the useful plastic container (which is will hold a few more if so required).

    Pros:
Passthru does make it a little easier – a little trim and away you go!
I like the guides which always benefit the speed of fitting any connector for me.
The strain relief boots are a nice touch – as some connectors are not supplied with them which for the heavier cables (which are often now used) simply doesn’t make sense.

    Cons:
Haven’t found any as yet, they tested well in my eyes.

    Conclusion:
As usual, you pay for what you get and these are worth the money. A great connector which I hope will hold up to its incoming punishment.

    Thanks AMZ

What you have here is a good example of some passthrough plugs but made slightly complicated by the loading bar.

I didnt have my glasses so I did a best guess with the cabling using the loading bar, its a clever idea that should make life easier assuming you can see the holes clearly, you thread the conductors through the loading bar which effectively lines them up to the holes on the plug when you insert the loading bar inside the plug which I tried to show in the photos.

There is a single A4 guide, but it fails to make any significant mention of the clamp for the shielded element of the cable, this could be a bit clearer.

I’ll be digging out my decent cat8 cable for this and make up a few custom cables.

All in all these look good and I’ll be experimenting witht he loading bar.

One thing that I did notice

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, but I found the loading bar a little fiddly, boots work great.

I think the quality of these connectors is pretty good overall.
Value is also good for so many at this price.
I like the neat boxed pack the parts come in.
    Strain relief is good.
Some of my uses are transmitting video over Cat.6 which runs at higher power levels than ethernet so screening is important, more to keep signals in than out, so these will be useful.
I did find the load bar system fiddly though, maybe I have been spoilt by some other types I have that are pass through but easier to load as long as you strip a good length.
I will use them, but at my more patient moments!

This item is for a pack of 20 shielded RJ45 plugs, rated to Cat 8. This review is for the “pass thru” type, so you have to trim the ends after crimping the plug on.

Unusually, the plugs have an insert that your wires go into first, and then this is inserted into the plug, making it doubly fiddly. Not quite sure of the reasoning for this, other than to make a relatively straightforward task more fiddly.

I do like the fact it has an easy to crimp shielding tag on it, which is far better than a lot of the ones I’d previously used which have an eyelet. Depending on the cable type, you will still have to wrap one of the wires around the shielding and ensure the shield tag crimps it nicely.

I used these on some external shielded Cat5, and no issues running at 1Gbps over a 30m run.

If you need shielded, whilst a bit fiddly in some areas, these are as good as any. If you don’t need shielded, use normal plugs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easier than many other shielded plugs I've used, yet unnecessarily fiddly

I am no expert when it comes to making networking cables and have only made a few in my lifetime! The RJ45 pass through connectors are exactly what I was looking for to help with completing my cable setup at home. Installation time was quick for me because of the included instructions and the included load bars that make feeding cables through more precise and less chance of errors. I did not have to look anything up, the kit comes with everything I needed except the modular crimping tool which I already owned. You can buy them, they do not have to be expensive but there are some advanced tools that take the fun or hassle out of the process of stripping cables too! FatMax is a brand that I have seen on Amazon!

The kit comprises of 20 Cat 8 Shielded RJ45 Pass-Through Modular Plugs with Strain-relief Boots which are to prevent damage or atleast provide as much protection as is possible. The metal grounded housing come with a metal collar attached to keep the connector secure as well as gold plated contacts which help to maintain a consistent signal path and less risk to damage or corrosion. For that reason I highly recommend this kit, it certainly is good value for money.

I did look up video tutorials on YouTube so you can see how modular pass-through connectors with load bar support are an alternative to regular module pass-through connectors.

Since this product is from Cable Matters, I searched on YouTube for – cable matters rj45 pass through connector and came across a useful tutorial from Switched On Network.

Thanks for reading my review and I hope you have fun making your Cat 8 cables.

If you are looking for some RJ45 connectors and have come across these and you are not too sure if they will be suitable or not, then let me explain a little bit about why you should pick these ones rather than your regular RJ45 connectors. Just remember that if you are planning on using these then you will also need an RJ45 crimping tool, which is sold separately, and you can find plenty of good ones on Amazon.

When I renovated my house I got Cat6 Ethernet cabling installed everywhere. Cat8 is the latest Ethernet cabling specification that enables you to get up to 40Gbps over the Cat8 cables, as long as you crimp the cables with the correct connectors. Thankfully these RJ45 Cat8 pass through connectors are backwards compatible all the way back to Cat5. What this means is that I can use these connectors on my Cat6 cables but I just won’t get the high speeds that Cat8 offers as the specifications are dependant on the quality, thickness and grade of the actual cable itself. So in order to get the 40Gbps speeds then you need to use these Cat8 RJ45 connectors on Cat8 cable.

When you look at the advert you will see two choices, one for the pass through connectors and one for the regular connectors. After having used both types of connectors I would recommend that you always go for the pass through connectors. What pass through connectors actually mean is that they allow the individual strands to actually pass straight through the end of the connector. The difference this makes when it comes to crimping the cables is huge, in that it is so much easier and quicker to get the job done with the pass through connectors. If you look at the attached photos with the connector you get a little blue cap that goes over the end of the connector to prevent the lip accidentally breaking or being pressed when in use, and you also get a set of transparent little plastic bits that you feed the cables through before crimping. Please remember to use these as they not only help hold the cables together, they also makes it much easier to get each strand of cable in it’s correct position before you crimp the connector. Then when the cable is fully crimped all you need to do is cut the ends of the cables off, that have passed through the end of the RJ45 connector.

This set of connectors comes with a nice sturdy plastic storage box, and for those who may never have used these before, there is a nice sheet in there (as shown in my photos) which explains everything nicely on how to crimp a Cat 8 cable with these pass-through connectors. I have crimped a lot of cables in my time as I used to work in Networking and in my experience, you won’t get a much better set of quality connectors than this one.

I needed to create a series of bespoke length cables for my network, previously I have always used plastic plugs which are ok but no brilliant, what I really like with these is that they have a metal cable grip to hold the cable securely.
In addition these have plastic covers which make releasing the plugs so much easie

Strain relief sleeve of approx 15mm with releases tab protector, separate internal strand guide making it easy to align the cable with the plug, and a full size crimp as part of the rf shield to prevent the cable backing out, plus fitting perfectly into my generic RJ45 crimping pliers, these are a doddle to use.

I’ve got these to keep on hand for my CCTV. I need to install an additional camera soon and will have to make up a long run of cable.

Straightaway you can tell that these are quality-made connectors before you even open the box. Cheaper and more inferior connectors are often made of metal that bends easily before they’ve even seen a cable. Not so with these. They are solid and well-made, and I’m looking forward to fitting them. I’ll update my review as and when I install that extra camera.

This review is for the Cable Matters 20-Pack Shielded Cat8 RJ45 Pass Through Connector with Strain Relief Boots for Solid or Stranded Ethernet Cable (Cat8 Pass Through RJ45 Plugs/Cat 8 Pass Thru Connectors) (Pass-through)

9.99 at the time of review.

These are easier to assemble than using connectors that aren’t pass through, and the included load bars make it even easier to assemble a cable run.

These are well made and the strain relief boots are good as well, even if they are a little tall which might not suit every installation, but you could leave them off I guess. The plug and the boot strains have notches and bars in them that help to lock the strain in place. There is no metal inside the connector to ground, but a lot of others out there are just the same, and in practice for domestic use, it shouldn’t make any difference anyway.

The price is good and you even get a little plastic box that can be repurposed for something else as well. 5 stars and recommended.

I have made network cables at work and home for years. At work with pro tools and the home ones with an unbranded tool whose origin was lost in the mists of time. Lately I’ve been using up a left over bag of the single part plugs. Very simple to do once you have the knack. I saw these Cable Matters pass through plugs and thought I’d treat myself and see how easy they are.

They arrived in a nice branded plastic box. The plugs and shrouds were not as neatly arranged as in the listing photos! The little load bars were inside in their own bag. An excellent full colour instruction sheet is included.

The load bar helps get the wires in the right places and being able to see the wires on the pass through holes means you can’t go wrong. If you have the right tool it will cut the surplus wire off flush with the plug body. I used my old crimping tool and then some flush cutters to carefully trim the wires.

Simple to use and you can’t go wrong if you have a pass through crimping tool. They take a little longer to fit than the old single part plugs. These Cable Matters plugs fit their sockets perfectly.

The short version is: What you gain from having a pass through connector, you lose in fiddly installation.

I’d seen these around but this is the first time I’ve used one, I do like the idea that you don’t have to worry about a conductor coming up short. I also like the idea that you can be less than exact on your length when stripping the cable.

However in reality because these are intended for shielded cables you still need to be accurate up front with your stripping, you also spend at least three times longer actually getting the conductors into the plug because of the weird “loading bar”.

There are some basic instructions included with the kit but it neglects to mention that if you really want the shield in the cable to work correctly it has to be connected to the plug shield at one end of the cable.

These shielded RJ45 connectors come in a plastic box which includes instruction on how to fit the connectors to your network cable should you not have done this before.

The connectors and shielding appear to be of good quality matching what I’ve used before in data centres. The boot likewise. Although I’m not a fan of the hood that sticks up as it can catch buttons on the back on network switches. Although it does not appear to stick out as much on this boot compared to others.

Overall I’ve very happy with these connectors. To be honest for 99% domestic uses using connector of this quality is overkill but if you want the best of the best or want to future proof your network install, I can’t see you going wrong here.
