I bought this mainly to suck the air from vacuum bags we use to store bedding in a caravan. It is nice and compact, comes with a selection of attachments and a bag it all fits in. It works really well, sucking them down almost as well as a vacuum cleaner. As commented by others, it is quite noisey when you use it but it doesn’t put me off s it works so well. The battery lasts well but another minor niggle is when you charge it I’ve not seen any indication that it’s fully charged. You get a red light glow to show it’s charging so I leave it for a couple of hours and it works OK. Overall, great value for money and something I buy again.
On my wild camps I have four items that benefit from this wee pump. Camping pillow, sleeping pad, sleeping bag and tent. You might assume I am talking about an inflatable tent, but no! If you also use vacuum storage bags and use this pump to suck out the air you can reduce the space of the sleeping bag and tent by about a third, assuming you pack the poles and pegs separate from the tent. Also sucks out the air from the sleeping pad in quick time.
As far as I am concerned, a worthy and satisfyingly useful product to take camping.
Obsessed micro light backpackers will laugh, but I do not care!
i brought this to inflate camping pad and pillow. it came with a small charge in it but i fully charged it before use. Camping pad and pillow inflated in less than 2 minutes. it comes with a few adapters, you got sleeping pad or mattress inflatable pillows, save your breath! this little pump is what you need. on the plus side its rechargeable! i would recommend. they come in different sizes this one had a higher inflation rate hence buying it.
Used on holiday to inflate airbeds for the beach lounger. Inflates very quickly, it’s a wee bit noisy but took less than a minute to inflate bed. Well worth the money. Will be used for camping trips. Loads of additional attachments which can be used for all sorts!
There are probably better pumps on the market and I don’t know how long the battery lasts yet but it does what it is supposed to although I think the fit of the attachments is not very good for maximum efficiency with the inflatable mat I am using it for.
Really good pump has good power and is small in size. Has lots of attachments. Easy to use both inflating and deflating. Saw lots of comments about it being loud – it’s just as loud as a normal battery powered pump, maybe a little higher in pitch, but wouldn’t expect it to be any quieter. Great purchase.
A small light pump that is great on any camp. I inflated my pillow in less than 10 seconds & my airmat took just a couple of minutes.plenty of battery life to inflate and deflate both pillow and airmat.
Brought this to take on holiday to inflate pool lilo/ring float etc instead of keep buying from the hotel and trying to deflate the things on return journey home.
Haven’t tried to inflate any items yet but seems fine when turned on.
Small and light weight enough to take in a suitcase.
Quite a small length rechargeable cable, could do with being a bit longer in my opinion.
Overall should pay for itself if it lasts as I won’t have to keep buying pool inflatables when going on holiday, and can deflate pool floats to the minimum to fit in the suitcase, as you never seem to be able to get all the air out manually.
I don’t normally bother with leaving reviews but this pump is amazing! Especially for its tiny size. Pumps up my campervan air mattress in a very short time with no problem at all. Highly recommended!!!!
Used to inflate a heavy air bed, it did take a while to make the air bed look like it was inflating, then almost by magic the inflation rate seemed to accelerate. Happy with the product worked very well.
I bought this primarily as a vacuum pump for shrinking storage bags on a week-long Scout camp. However, it also saw use inflating a camp chair and topping off various inflatable pool toys.
The battery survived a whole week of moderate use with no sign of slowing down, it pulled enough of a vacuum to decently compress the storage bags and put out enough air volume to inflate a single-seat camp chair in just a couple minutes, achieving a good pressure. My only criticism would be that some of the adapters can be quite difficult to install or remove, requiring a bit more force than I was entirely comfortable with.
As with all electric pumps of this type, it’s loud and shrill, but that is to be expected. Even expensive pumps of the type are no quieter.
Excellent value for money and now lives permanently in my Scouts “camp survival” box along with all the other bits of useful kit and spare parts that I’ve learned to keep on hand!
I bought this pump to pump a big air bed while camping without mains or car power. It was bought to replace an older style rechargeable pump which no longer held a charge. I liked that this new style could be recharged off a battery bank while off grid.
On receiving, I charged this fully before using it. I then inflated a queen size intex air bed, one that is probably at least 60cm tall. I added the correct attachment, put it in the valve and switched it on. Within 20-30 seconds the sound dipped slightly and I worried it was running out of power already, but that was not the case. It carried on and within around 11 minutes the air bed was fully and firmly inflated. The firmness is the main reason I chose this pump over the ones that only inflate to half the pressure.
The product description says this will run for 45 minutes. If true, that is very impressive for such a small device. I needed it to have enough power to inflate a big air bed and some left over for topping up the bed over a few days, and I’m confident this pump will deliver on that.
There are two things that could be improved on this pump. The main one is the noise it makes, it’s quite loud and there’s an unpleasant high-pitched element to the noise that really grates on the ears. The noise wouldn’t be such a problem if the pump was very quick, but 11 minutes is a long time to be listening to it and subjecting nearby campers to the sound. That brings me to my next point, it’s quite slow to fill a big airbed. 11 minutes is much slower than the mains pump built into the airbed. However I imagine this is a limitation of the current technology.
I’ve yet to test it more long term on a camping trip, but so far I’d recommend this pump, just don’t expect mains performance.
I am really pleased with this super pump. It is larger than I expected (though I did not check the measurement specs before buying and the size is not really a hinderance). As many say it is noisy (it sounds like a small hoover!) So if using late at night on arrival to a public camp site you may wake/annoy people! Or is ninja camping…..well you will need to be smart lol. It inflated my expensive hiking mattress in around a minute. It does come to a point where on inflation it can’t keep forcing air into the mattress leaving the mattress a little soft….point being you may need to put a few final puffs into your air mattress with you mouth (or air inflation sack). Over all I am really pleased with it, it is heavier than I expected and may not be an item to carry on serious Thru-Hikes due to the weight. Yet I will carry this on one nighters or a few nights camping/hiking. It is fast and powerful yet as I mentioned pretty loud…The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because I think it would be even cooler if it had a deflate switch also (as those who hike seriously will know deflation on an early morning may be cumbersome with lying on mattresses and rolling back up. I have written to Flextailgear to ask if they will consider this as an added feature. I am well aware there is another much smaller pump one can buy from a famous inflatable mattress company yet I also know that pump takes forever to inflate the mattress even though it is tiny. So ultimately I am happy with this product. It is super and offers all the nozzle attachments above (as I have shown in the picture). Personally I spend hours researching/buying and using mountain/camping/hiking equipment of all sorts and this a wonderful addition to your kit. Yes I do recommend this great little (or not so little!) electric portable pump. Hope this review will help all hikers/users out there.
Was looking for an air pump to initially replace the plugged 4.99 version used for our swimming pool as it died a grinding death. Then my daughter asked about inflating and deflating her mattress on her Duke of Edinburgh expedition.
I then remembered that I was going to be vaccum packing a load of winter wear, and suddenly the price for the size and ability to achieve multiple tasks seemed worth it. Though will admit this wasn’t my original choice, but the slightly cheaper one was outdated and no longer available it seems.
For something that fits in the palm of my hand it is extremely powerful. I could have invested in the more expensive power bank version or bought the one with a light, but didn’t see the need. I wanted an air pump, and that’s what I got. On one charge out of the box I filled up our 12ft quickset pool, the two sides of a kiddy 8ft by 5ft pool, three adult unicorn inflatables and the pool pong tray.
Recharging was fast, and is now stored away in it’s little pouch with it’s accessories until needed again. Only downside is length of charging cable as it is quite short, but it does the job.
Would I buy again? Unless something even better comes out when this one gives up the ghost, then yes I would.
Works well to inflate or deflate an airbed, be aware you probably want to invest in some ear defenders as it has a really loud high pitch sound when on. You couldn’t use it at night on a campsite unless you wanted to wake everyone up! Not convinced that it handles higher pressures like it states, definitely isn’t as good as our 12v pump but the convenience of no wires and being able to inflate a mattress in the tent is a winner, so overall I’m happy with it. Probably took 5 mins to inflate a double air mattress in which time it got quite warm, so if you have a few to do you would need to let it cool down between.
I wasn’t expecting much from this pump – I have a 15 foot canoe to inflate I knew it wasn’t going to get it up full pressure, but was hoping it would do some of the work for me. Charging the pump was very slow until I moved it up to a higher output USB – realistically it needs something like an iPad charger. The pump comes with a range of adaptors including one to fit my boat. Some reviews say it’s noisy, but it’s no worse than similar pumps.
Actual inflation was fairly quick reaching about 80% of full volume, and a few strokes with the hand pump finished it off (my boat needs 4psi, pump provides 0.65psi).
Summary: it’s small, light, does most of the work for me, and doesn’t need mains to recharge it. No, it doesn’t do high pressure, but it’s 18 vs 80 and 180g vs 2kg. Airbeds, armbands and the like would be no problem (I reinflated a flattened pop bottle with it) but you’re still going to need a pump for SUP’s and Drop Needle floors to get high pressure. The battery probably holds enough charge to inflate my boat 2 or 3 times, but I haven’t tested this.
