If you’re looking to shoot combined ‘above & below’ water shots with your DJI OSMO Action camera, then this Dome case is a very useful piece of kit.
I’ve used it extensively in both open salt water and swimming pools and its worked 100& reliably. No leaks. No condensation build up. The float handle also works as advertised, and the overall build quality is good. The camera fits snuggly but easily into the rear case, which locks securely, and the lens, front screen and sensor unit all line up perfectly with the cut outs at the rear of the dome. the dome itself is clear and affords excellent image quality.
The only downside, which is common to all water proof cases for action cams, is that control of camera functions is very limited. With two manual buttons on the outside of the case you’re limited to on/off and shutter/record only. For obvious reason the touch screen in not accessible, so its impossible to change from still to video without opening up the case.
However, those restrictions are not the fault of GEPULY. They are inherent in the design of all similar cases.
Packaging and presentation are also excellent, with a protective bag provided for the dome. This is especially useful as the dome is plastic and its size and shape mean it could easily get scratched. It s always wise, when not using it to place in on any surface with the dome part facing up to minimise the risk of scratching.
Everything else fits snug as a bug in a rug but the side power button on the DJI Osmo 4 Action cam must be turned on before inserting into the dome because the buttons don’t line up. Otherwise no water gets in and everything works. I don’t know if I would trust it to 60ft underwater but for paddle boarding and snorkeling it works great.
I love this dome mount for my action camera. It produces a cool, above water/below water shot that is hard to achieve with a regular waterproof camera housing. Lets face it. Most cool water shots happen on the surface and just below it anyhow. Usually water visibility isn’t all that great at depth. This is worth the investment. Recommended.
This dome repels water really well, allowing you to get that over/under water look with the waterline. Fits my DJI Action 4 perfectly, and seals it in water tight. The handle opens on one end allowing storage of the small accessories as well. Great product – I’m very happy with it.
