Brilliant service from the seller and I would not hesitate to buy again from this seller. Well, what can I say about this Grinder, its a Makita what more do I need to say really? I suppose you could say it lasts years and I will say that I also have a Bosh Angle Grinder and although the Bosh is great for reliability, it does not run as smooth as these Makia’s! These Makita’s do run quieter than the Bosh, the Bosh is a little noisier. I highly recomment Makita Angle Grinders, but the Bosh is a good one too. I just prefer the Makita a bit more really. AAAA+
Good tool as far as durability and cutting is concerned but totally let down by the positioning and the operation of the power switch which is best described as needing the power of Hercules to operate. The tool has successfully cut through a variety of steel bars and bolts and after around 30 odd hours of operation shows little sign of motor wear The case is a nightmare to repack and not worth the additional cost would have been better bought without it… will it last who knows?… but if I had used one of these before with its poor switch design I would have probably bought something else..
Really pleased with this replacement for my decades-old German brand angle grinder. It is light and sits comfortably in the hand. Good quality case too, plus a couple of discs. It is a snug fit in the case but once you work out how to position it, it is fine. I use it mainly for stone cutting with diamond-tipped discs.
Not actually used this yet, bought it to cut paving slabs, but it has a good weight, and nice feel to it. Not too heavy, not too light. Considered 59 a decent price for a Makita grinder on Amazon. All my other power tools are Makita which have proved to be excellent, hence sticking with a trusted brand. Have seen a few comments about how poor the box is; I agree it’s not a best effort from Makita. However, for those having difficulty refitting the grinder in its box, (I struggled with it initially then saw how it should be done)…if you look on the inside of the lid, there’s a diagram/schematic showing how the grinder should be stowed. Have put a pic here with this review. Hope this helps someone.
Love this little angle grinder. I’ve been using it to cut slate tile and large Indian sandstone slabs. Has no issue going through either and you can easily operate with one hand. Great tool for the job. It’s very loud though so get some ear plugs to avoid ringing in your ears!
It’s a Makita so it’s not the cheapest, but it is very good. When we eventually blow the earth up through climate change, the cockroaches will rule but the Makita’s will still be running.
Buy it, forget about the price and keep using it. I brought it for cutting steel right angles from a TV aerial and cables on my roof, I didn’t want to use a hacksaw on the roof so brought this. No idea about the angle grinder but it cuts quickly and effectively with the cutter. Its not lightweight but not too heavy, reassuringly hefty.
Comes in a nice case as well. Lead is quite long.
I’m very happy with it.
I have had it for a few months and have been doing home renovation with it. No need to read the instruction as it is easy to use, great value for money, so light to hold, overall, I would strongly recommend any builder to buy this product.
Like: Good quality, soft starting and good speedy grinding.
Case is a waste of time unless you want to remove discs and dust deflector every time you put it away. Would have given a 5 but for that.
Only used twice (small jobs), so hoping for the best (that it will be a reliable tool for my trade). Makita have not sorted the case issue out. Therefore as other have remarked, the grinder would not go back in once taken it out. To remedy, I used the grinder to cut some of the partitions from the inside of the case and ‘voila’, it fits!
Good quality as you’d expect and does the job with ease. As per many other reviews ‘it’s virtually impossible ‘ to put the grinder back in the carry case. There is absolutely nowhere to put the cable, You have to take the guard off too each time you put the grinder away. Grinder fine for the money , Case a very annoying joke.
Makita GA4530RKD. I’ve used this grinder to shapen mosonary chisels and cut through 5mm thick angle iron, both tasks it performed well. Other reviewers have criticised the on off slide-switch but I find it very easy to use – push it in towards the body of the tool and then push forward to activate, just press it to deactivate. Very easy. The case could be better as others have noted, the main problem being the cable storage. On first opening the cable is tied up neatly and stuffed into a small compartment by the cable outlet of the grinder, but it’s very difficult to get it back in there after use. A better solution is to take the cord back along the legth of the grinder and fold it into the larger compartment at the head of the grinder. With a flat disc loaded it closes easily, but with a thicker disc that has a raised locating lip it’s a bit more difficult to close because of the extra thickness. The case isn’t as good as the case on my Makita cordless drill, but at least it’s a case! The disc guard is a friction fit affair that works really well. To reposition it just grab it and turn (while the grinder is switched off!) Much easier than a clamp I think. The handle is angled forwad a bit which could limit access to tighter spaces – I’d rather have a handle at right angles to the body, but it’s not a critical factor. All in all, and for the price, which includes a diamond concrete cutting disc, grinding disc and case, IMO it’s good value.
