NEEWER D Tap to EN-EL15 Dummy Battery with Cable for V Mount
NEEWER D Tap to EN-EL15 Dummy Battery with Cable for V Mount Battery, Stable Continuous Power Supply for Nikon Z8 Zf Z6 Z6II Z7 II Z5 D850 D810 D810A D780 D750 D610 D500 D7500 D7200, VP-EP5B
I have only great things to say about Neewer products in general and this accessory is another excellent addition to my Nikon Z7ii which allows me to let it run off of my V-mount batteries.
I mainly use this when I video performances, because god forbid your battery runs out before the curtain falls! With this, connected to a power bank, you can take that worry out of the equation. The coiled cable is a nice touch—it helps to keep your rig nice and neat. So far, it has worked flawlessly with my Z6ii. The marketing copy claims it has overheating protection, short circuit protection, and all of that—so far, I’ve had no problems, so I’m inclined to believe them.
Can confirm that these DO work in Nikon Z8. I was worried they would not – I’ve had others that didn’t, so very happy this one does. Well built – NEEWER brand seems to be really great these days.
I picked up the NEEWER D Tap to EN-EL15 Dummy Battery to be used when recording video in either my Z7ii or my Z8. Thus far, I’ve only tested this in my Z8 and it worked perfectly. Neewer has placed some protections in this dummy battery; overheating protection, shock protection, overvoltage protection, short circuit protection, overcurrent protection, and the like making this the perfect static plug-in dummy battery to use in any of the Nikon Z cameras.
The dummy battery worked perfectly for a straight 20-minute recording, not that I was worried, but it’s a good starter test. My external monitor for the shoot overheated but the camera and dummy battery worked perfectly fine.
Overall, if you’re looking for a great D-Tap Dummy Battery for your Z series, and even Nikon DSLRs, then this NEEWER dummy battery is the perfect pickup.
What I like about this dummy battery:
1) It fits Z7 II perfectly
2) Simple, not additional converter in middle
3) Coiled wire save space and provide needed length
4) When connected to a V-mount power bank, the camera works as if there were a battery in it.
5) Yes, Z7 II supports PD via its USB-C port. But this adapter saves the USB-C port for other purposes such as connecting to Camera Ranger.
6) When connecting to a larger capacity V-mount power bank, it enables the camara to have unlimited power supply for a job.
I like to record bts video of my photo shoots and sometimes they run a little longer than the battery capacity of the internal battery will allow. That’s when this dummy battery comes in hand. I can plug it into my v mount battery and get run times that are the equivalent to having 5-6 en-el15 batteries. The dummy battery works as it should and has not presented any issues glueing operation for my Z6 and Z5. I have not tested it on my Z8 tho.
