NEEWER D Tap to NP-FW50 Dummy Battery with Cable for V Mount
NEEWER D Tap to NP-FW50 Dummy Battery with Cable for V Mount Battery, Stable Continuous Power Supply for Sony ZV-E10 A3000 A5000 A5100 A6000 A6100 A6300 A6400 A6500 A7 II A7R II A7S II, VP-FW5
A DC coupler with DTAP connection. The tight connection using DTAP plug gives me peace of mind. I will not consider using DC plug again. The quality of this cable is excellent. This is a cable that is as good as if not better than any named brands.
I bought the ZV-E10 dummy battery for my Sony ZV-E10 and connected the D-tap end to my V battery pack on my camera rig. It works like a charm! The battery lasts ages, so I no longer need to constantly replace the camera battery, which was a common issue with the older NP-FW50 batteries. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable power solution for their ZV-E10.
Looking to extend your camera’s power supply for extended shooting sessions? Look no further than the D-Tap to NP-FW50 adapter. This nifty gadget allows you to power your camera using V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries, eliminating the need for individual NP-FW50 batteries.
With the adapter in place, simply plug the dummy battery into your camera like a regular battery, and you’re all set. The benefits are twofold: no more battery swaps, and the ability to capture footage or snap photos for extended periods without worrying about battery life—provided your V-Mount battery has sufficient charge, of course.
Ideal for stationary setups like podcasts or long-exposure photography sessions, this adapter streamlines your workflow and ensures uninterrupted shooting. However, it’s not the best choice for dynamic shooting scenarios like weddings, where constant movement is required and holding a V-Mount battery alongside your camera can quickly become tiresome.
Before purchasing, ensure compatibility with your camera model. While NP-FW50 batteries are commonly used in older Sony cameras like the Sony A7II and the Sony ZV-E10 (released in 2021), newer models may require different battery sizes like the NP-FZ100.
Crafted from sturdy ABS plastic, the build quality of this adapter is commendable, with precise construction ensuring a seamless fit for your camera. The coiled cable adds flexibility, allowing you to adjust the distance as needed without tangling.
During testing, the adapter performed admirably, delivering reliable power without any glitches. The snug connection to the D-Tap battery ensures a rock-solid setup, while the dummy battery fits snugly inside the camera, with a small door allowing for cable routing from the battery compartment.
Despite initial concerns about compatibility and reliability, the Neewer D-Tap dummy battery proved to be a wise investment, seamlessly integrating with both the Sony ZV-E1 and the Sony A7R2. Impressively, these dummy batteries manage to fool Sony cameras into recognizing them as genuine, ensuring smooth operation without any hiccups.
With a solid track record of delivering quality products at competitive prices, Neewer earns another five-star rating from a satisfied customer.
Excelente bateria falsa D-tap para zve10 funciona bien, buen alcanse y cable en espiral la compre para remplazar la que tenia de usb A que conectaba a un power bank pero ahora uso esta y la conecto a una bateria V
Picked up this dummy battery for long corporate headshot days. Just pop the dummy battery in connect to my Vmount and leave my set up together to cycle clients through. The dummy battery works great. Neewer has really stepped up the build quality of a lot of their products. I use Neewer dummy batterys for my other cameras as well.
This D-Tap to NP-FW50 adapter allows you to power your camera without individual NP-FW50 batteries. So what you do is hook this up to a V-Mount battery or Gold Mount battery, plug the dummy battery into your camera like a normal battery, and voil. Powering your camera with this adapter does two things. Firstly, you won’t have to be swapping batteries anymore. Secondly, you’re able to record/take pictures for longer periods of time without worrying about battery life (as long as the V-Mount it’s connected to has plenty of battery). I highly recommend this if you are going to be stationary for a long period of time with your camera, such as podcasts or long-exposure photos. This is not a device you want for something like wedding photography, because that requires you to move around constantly and you’ll get tired quickly by holding a v-mount battery and a camera all around the place. Also, and this should go without saying, make sure that you get the correct battery size! The newer Sony cameras coming out use NP-FZ100 battery models, this NP-FW50 is really used on older Sony cameras like my Sony A7II, although it is also used in the Sony ZV-E10 (released in 2021). With that said, I highly recommend this gadget.
Pros
+ Allows for longer battery life, no more swapping batteries
+ Does not interfere with camera functionality
+ Coiled cable is a plus
Cons
– Battery door must remain open when using this product. Think twice before using this in very humid environments or environments with extreme weather where you would normally utilize weather-proofed gear only.
Works well with my old A6000, it is a little hard to get the battery compartment door closed if you want to close it with the cable on this dummy battery being a little thick, but not a big deal.
Works perfectly with both of my Sony’s, but Sony still has the 29min cut off for video, but at least you don’t have to worry about the power situation and having to be close to a plug
After testing out the Neewer D-tap dummy battery for my Sony ZV-E1 – which performed flawlessly – I ordered the Neewer D-tap dummy battery for my Sony A7R2… and it, too, performs flawlessly. After seeing so many people claim that dummy batteries have destroyed their cameras – I was very hesitant on getting one… but these dummy batteries plug into the Neewer D-tap battery – and I’m comforted in knowing that they are working together to provide the prescribed voltage and current necessary for my cameras to operate properly. Add to that – Sony cameras are very sophisticated and know when you are using dummy batteries or knock-off batteries – but these Neewer D-Tap dummy batteries are able to fool the cameras into believing they are genuine Sony batteries! I’ve bought many Neewer products – and my confidence in their line of products is solid… everything has been good quality and a good price. This is another one that gets five stars from me!
Review for: “NEEWER D Tap to NP-FW50 Dummy Battery with Cable for V Mount Battery, Stable Continuous Power Supply for Sony ZV-E10 A3000 A5000 A5100 A6000 A6100 A6300 A6400 A6500 A7 II A7R II A7S II, VP-FW50 ”
Build quality is good, Made of solid ABS plastic which precise cutting to fit my Sony ZV-E10 without any problem. I like the coiled cable which is flexible to fit the required distance and tangled free.
I have a small 50Wh V-mount battery and test it with Sony ZV-E10, and it has almost 6.6 times more power than original NP-FW50 battery(original NP-FW50 has 7.3Wh).
During my test it never failed or shows any issues. The connection to D-Tap battery is snug and rock solid. The dummy battery is also fit very well inside Sony ZV-E10, which have a small door to route the cable from its battery compartment.
I am having peace of mind using Neewer dummy battery because it has lots of protection to supply stable power into my camera safely.
Another quality product from Neewer for a reasonable price.
Neewer products have found a permanent place in my videography arsenal. Most everything from them seems to be of high quality and fits the need to a “T”. This dummy battery fits perfectly in my SONY ZV-E10 and allows for extended shooting without having to constantly replace those tiny NP-FW50 batteries that don’t last long. It fits the battery compartment just fine and there is no error message on the screen when I turn the camera on. Often the cheaper dummy batteries produce an error message on screen, but this does not. If you use your ZV-E10 in the studio or for a long field shoot with a V-mount battery, this should be in your kit.
