This dummy battery is great for running Fuji X series cameras for long periods of time.
Since most V-mount batteries have much more power than a single W235 battery, this dummy battery allows for a very long recording/shooting time with the Fuji camera.
The only issue that this battery doesn’t solve is Fuji cameras overheating.
Using this in tandem with a Neewer NPF to Vlovk battery plate with a dtap output, for my Fuji X-S20, and so far I’m quite happy. Having two of my SWIT batteries on the plate with this running from the dtap has powered my camera for nearly10hrs of livestream.
Super happy so far!
The primary benefit of using a dummy battery connected to a V-mount battery is the significantly extended shooting time it offers. During testing, the setup provided a stable and continuous power supply that allowed for hours of uninterrupted shooting. This is invaluable for time-lapse photography, video productions, and any long-duration photography session where changing batteries frequently is impractical or impossible.
I’ve used other dummy batteries, but the cords don’t fit through the pass trough on the XH2(S), so you can’t close the door. This one however does still work with the door, allowing you to fully shut it with the dummy battery inside.
Neewer make excellent after market products. I have multip;e cameras, and each system has at least one Neewer product.
This adapter (dummy battery) is designed so it fits into the battery compartment of your camera, and then can be connected to a much larger battery. That will give you extended time using the camera without changing batteries. This is especially useful in video productions, or time lapse productions or any situation where you will want to keep shooting multiple photos (or video) long beyond the capacity of a standard battery to deliver.
D-Tap batteries support various connections and can power an entire photoshoot with a single battery, and eliminate the need to change batteries at what might be a critical moment.
Some cameras have battery doors that have a small rubber trap-door kind of insert, so the battery door can be closed when a dummy battery is installed. I got this for my Fuji GFXs, which does not, and so the battery door must stay open. Some cameras will not power on if the battery door is open – so be certain you know about your camera.
This is an excellent product from Neewer, and I recommend i
What I like about this dummy battery:
1) It fits X-S20 perfectly
2) Simple, not additional converter in middle
3) Coiled wire save space and provide needed length
4) When connected to a V-mount power bank, the camera works as if there were a battery in it.
5) Yes, X-S20 supports PD via its USB-C port. But this adapter saves the USB-C port for other purposes.
This works great. I always keep an extra battery on hand when shooting with my X-H2, but this adapter lets me use a much larger battery pack for continuous shooting. The camera and battery both recognized the adapter cable without issue. For example, my larger external battery has more than 6x the capacity of the standard NP-W235 one (99 watt-hours vs. 15.8) so I can shoot and take videos for hour without issue.
This adapter is perfect when you want to rig up your compatible model Fujifilm body. I use this on my Fujifilm XH2 rig. Previously if I wanted long runtimes, I would put my VG-XH battery grip on, which allowed me to run 3 batteries simultaneously, but added much more weight and size to my rig. This simple adapter allows me to run power from my V-mount battery that was already powering my monitor and other accessories. I have a slightly smaller setup with a significantly noticeable weight reduction. The adapter works as it should and does not create any issues with the camera.
What I like:
-I tend to go through my Fuji GFX batteries rather quickly. This device from Neewer now lets me draw power from the much larger V-mount batteries. So long as I have one of these available, my worries about running out of juice are gone.
-The fit and finish are excellent.
-The coil cord is long enough to reach the V-mount battery where I attach it on my tripod and when not in use it doesn’t take up much room.
-The connection is well-designed and tight. Great fit.
Recommended.
It is working well for Fuji cameras that accept NP-W235 batteries. It works out of the box and the overall quality is solid.
The coiled cable is soft and long enough, and it is a fully decoded dummy battery that can be recognized by the camera without any issues.
