The NOVOO USB-C Docking Station is a great device that allows a dual monitor setup to any laptop with a USB-C port. As well as allowing two monitors it also features a 100W PD port and 4 USB ports.

It’s ideal for quickly and easily turning a laptop into a dual monitor desktop and for the price point at the time of writing this I’d say it’s a bargain.

Overall a good value for money purchase, allows two 4K screens at 30Hz and value is hard to beat.

This is a well made little hub, and the orange lamp for the main LED together with the orange hi-lite around the cord entry make it a bit different from the usual black/grey and blue LED variety. That, together with the matt black front does give it a classy appearance.
All cosmetic-only of course, but still makes it stand out from the other stuff.

I’ve tried this both on a laptop (Win11 Home), and a mini-PC (Win11 Pro) with mixed results display-wise.

The USB sockets work exactly as you would expect, but on the laptop it struggles a bit with the display output.
I truly expected this to be the case, as the laptop is very low-spec compared to others out there, so it was no surprise to me.

On the mini-PC however, it works like a dream (and is actually where this device will be permanently sited).

It’s worth checking the specs of your particular device first, as you may well suspect there’s a problem with this hub when in fact it lays with the limitations of your own USB-C / internal hardware setup.

You’ll usually be flagged by Windows if any likely problems will occur as soon as you plug the the hub into your machine. (I was flagged on the laptop, but not on the mini-PC). It doesn’t mean to say you will ‘definitely’ have problems, but just be aware that it’s a possibility.

For me it works great, the cord length is very short however, so will only really suit a laptop or mini-PC with the USB-C sockets low down on the machine.

At the current price of 36.99 at time of review, I’m marking this as Good… 4-Stars.

Very easy to use docking station, bought for a SPro 7 Windows Laptop, simply plug the USBc cable into the SP7 connect one or two HDMi leads to one or two monitors + any other USB items such as external keyboards / mice and you should be good to go. I used this to provide a dual external monitor set up + the original SP7 screen so in effect 3 monitors in total. Note in Windows simply click the bottom left hand corner windows button and type “display” to get into the monitor settings.

Easy to use and set up

Having used various devices to streamline my workflow, I found one docking solution quite effective. It allowed me to connect multiple devices and screens, which was essential in my line of work. The charging speed for my laptop was notably quick, which kept me on the go without much downtime. The inclusion of several USB ports was convenient for connecting all my peripherals, making the transition from mobile to desk work seamless.

Good little dock this, it essentially lets you have a mini dock that gives you:
    – 2 x 4k 30hz HDMi outputs
    – 1 USB 3.2 slot
    – 2 USB 2.0 slots

It’s ideal for when you don’t want to carry a proper full sized dock when out and about with the laptop and as well as allowing dual monitors, adds the USB ports to the mix on that port which is nice.

They are only 30Hz display outputs, so keep that in mind if this is something you pay attention to.

Otherwise, it functions exactly as described, the unit itself is well made, feels solid yet is quite light, nice little unit.

If you like me, see USB 3.2 and assume that means 10Gbps; you will be disappointed.

That’s not the vendor or manufacturer’s fault, especially since they follow the new naming conventions.

However, it makes things about as clear as mud for anyone who doesn’t closely follow the USB’s changing nomenclature – which, to be honest, is mostly everyone.

So the USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 is indeed 5Gbps, i.e. identical to the port we’ve been calling USB 3.0 since 2008.

To be fair, the port is correctly coloured blue, which has been a colour-coding convention since 2008, too.
Had it been 3.2 Gen 2, we could expect it to be orange/red in colour.

This confusion somewhat takes away from a review where I would, with astounded consternation, declare this grey USB-C hub looks a little different – it has orange accents! The thing is, in terms of design, the NOVOO hub does stand out from a crowd of devices that broadly look the same; orange aside, the form factor is more interesting, too.

The features are okay but not remarkable at this price piont, with a USB-C PD port allowing up to 100W pass-through charging to the host device.

If used individually, two HDMI ports are 4K@30Hz; both simultaneously (dual display) that becomes 1080p@60Hz.

On the other side of the hub is a single USB 3.0 port (because it is) and two USB-A 2.0 ports.
USB 2.0 is an over twenty-year-old standard used by mice, keyboard, webcam, and other peripherals.
Five times slower than 2008’s USB 3.0 – making these inappropriate for data transfer.

In conclusion, at the current asking price of 35.99, I think you are paying for that interesting design ethos. There are other USB-C hubs in the 30-40 range (with 2xHDMI outs) that offer more ports/connections for the money. However, seeing something slightly different in this busy niche is a pleasant surprise.

When I work from home I connect my laptop into a full size docking station to allow me to connect two HD monitors, a mouse and a keyboard. When I’m traveling I need something more portable.
This docking station includes two HDMI video ports, three USB type A ports and one USB C port to allow me to charge the laptop whilst using the docking station.
Two of the USB ports are USB 2 and one is USB 3. I use the USB 2 ports for a keyboard and mouse but it would have been better if all three had been USB 3.
The video ports are described as 4K but I don’t have 4K monitors. The unit works well with two HD (1920×1080) monitors.
The unit has a metal case and a metal USB C plus joined by a fairly thick cloth covered cable.
I would have preferred a detachable cable so that I could uses a longer cable.
I’ve knocked off one star for the captive cable and lack of three USB 3 ports, but apart from those two irritations this is a good product which works well and looks like it’s built to last.
