Authenticity Tips
FILL SIZE
Due to vacuum packing the tub may appear to be two-thirds full when opened. This is normal as the powder settles and does not impact on or decrease the weight or number of serves listed on the label.
NECKBAND
In order to conform to the direction of our sustainability policy and goals, we have decided to remove this part of the packaging. Packaging may vary for a certain period of time as this change takes into effect.
VACUUM SEAL
Optimum Nutrition protein tubs have a cardboard vacuum barrier that helps hold powder in place during shipping. This gloss white protective disk should be stuck to top of the tub.
BATCH NUMBER AND DATE
Every Optimum Nutrition product will display a printed Batch Number and Date. The Best Before Date and Batch Codes are located on the side of the tub or the rear of the large bags.
SCOOP
Gold Standard 100% Whey tubs (UK & EU) now contain a clear plastic scoop. There is no branding on this.
*Due to a recent changeover we added a clear plastic scoop. You may still find gold scoops in your tubs in the short term.
TUB DESIGN
Gold Standard 100% Whey Tubs (UK and EU) have a circular indentation on the bottom. There is also a line running through the middle.

Whey protein will make me bulky?
False. This is totally untrue, your genetics and your strength training programme dictates how much muscle you build, protein only supports this training.
Whey protein is bad for my health?
False. There is absolutely no evidence that whey protein causes any negative health effects in healthy adults. Remember, whey protein comes from cheese making and is a food.

Vanilla ice cream and vanilla creme are my favorite flavours both taste good. Rasberry and white chocolate is nice but has got little bits of raspberry in which I didn’t really like. Strawberry is ok, I’m not a fan of fake strawberry flavour though. Chocolate hazelnut is disgusting it didn’t froth at all and tasted really weird I had to spit it out, would not recommend!! I found all mixed well no lumps.
When you see this big tub in the photos, you naturally think that it will be full to the brim with the magic power when you open it. But it isn’t. In fact, it’s half empty. This is obviously a marketing con: An actual-sized container wouldn’t sell as well. I don’t like wastage of any kind so I wouldn’t buy his again. The powder itself is very tasty, especially when blended with milk and bananas. Whether or not it will make me big and strong, well that’s all down to how hard I work out.
The images are from Cookies and cream. There were little black bits which I assume is the cookies part.
The smell was not good but the taste was decent. I’ve tried banana, vanilla, cookies and cream and strawberry. All were good. I have it with Skim milk for the extra protein. I also have two scoops to double up the protein. They’re thick and creamy. The cookies and cream was a bit gritty but the others aren’t.
I sometimes blend some fruit with the banana, vanilla or strawberry or I mix one scoop of one and one from another. Just to give myself a change as the tubs are big so you can get sick of the same flavour everyday.
I mix mine in a blender so there’s no lumps to worry about.
Overall I like these shakes and I’ll be buying more in the future.
I had glucoma surgery last year and had to drop out of marathon for an eye operation, I spent nearly a year on the shelf getting back to recovery, Gym it was getting easier, but I just couldn’t get back into the routine I felt like I had no energy,
I tried one of the other whey products And it didn’t suit me, let’s just say there was a lot of toilet trips
I’ve tried this one and after one shake I felt so full of energy I was peddling away on my bike and lifting weights at the same time I felt like roadrunner on steroids
I tried this protein powder; unfortunately, it gave me constipation. Despite following the recommended dosage, I consistently experienced this issue, making it difficult to continue using the product. Everybody is different, so perhaps other individuals do not encounter any problems with this whey protein.
I love the vanilla cream flavour. This product has helped with muscle gain after a workout. I been using a variety of gold standard whey protein for a while now. It mixes well without leaving clumps like other brands. The price is generally reasonable and often on offer. It lasts quite a while. The tub is always sealed tight with no breaks so far. I will continue to use this
I never received this Amazon order. As the delivery was unprofessionally left downstairs to be stolen instead of delivered to my actual front door (where I was in waiting for it to arrive).
But having purchased this elsewhere before and since. I have to say: out of all the other protein powders my son has tried over the years. This one is the absolute best in both our opinions. So this is what my full rating is on. Lovely chocolate taste. And best of all, with a standard shaker and wire ball, there is no lumps left in this drink. So my son always asks for this make now. The big size lasts ages. Plus the tub is worth keeping, to store other flavoured protein powders in, that this brand does not do. We also like how easy it is to scoop out of this tub compared to the packets others sell.
This one was also a good price at the time. But since the Amazon delivery let me down. I had to purchase it else where and pay dearer so we didn’t run out completely.
Must also add. Luckily most of Amazon delivery people are professional and complete their deliveries properly. By bringing to your front door and knocking. Unfortunately this was one off those very odd occasions where I got a bad apple delivery.
I’ve recently got back into an intense exercise routine (run/bike/weights/HITT) and using an app to track my food intake. I used to buy High5 but after reading the reviews on the new recipe I decided against it. I bought a small tub of this initially (French vanilla cream) to try and OMG it is lovely. The flavour is amazing (especially with milk when drinking) the powder is super fine and it mixes really well. I’ve also used it in smoothies, to flavour plain Greek yogurt and in my morning porridge. The 24g protein in each serving helps boost my intake and it’s low in sugar.
I’ve now bought the larger tub and set up a rolling subscription. This also helps with cost as you get discount.
I haven’t tried any other flavours, I know what I like, but I’d imagine they would be good too

This was the first protein I’d purchased, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. For context, I’m new to fitness and have little experience when it comes to weight loss, muscle toning/ building etc. I’m a 30 year-old sedentary worker, sat at a desk all day. 5’11”, and when I started using the protein I weighted around 190 pounds.
While using this protein, I worked out for 1 hour after work (either HIIT or strength) 5 days a week, and had a balanced diet focused on macro counting. I was able to reduce my body fat percentage from ~27% to ~25% within a month, and also losing ~10 pounds in the process.
For this review, I will look at 3 things: Taste, Texture, and Nutrition.
Taste: The Banana Cream flavour whey protein is fine. It has a very slight chemical aftertaste which concerned me at first, though after trying a few other protein blends I can assure you this is mild in comparison to other brands. It has a similar aftertaste to banana flavour sweets, as opposed to an actual banana. But it’s pleasant enough, once you know what to expect.
Texture: Mixed with the recommended ratio of powder to water, the texture is a little thin. For best results, I found using milk instead of water gave it a thicker texture, much more like a standard milkshake. It also takes additions well, without too much additional thickening. I found a couple of ice cubes, a standard banana (100g – 130g), 15g – 20g natural peanut butter and the standard ratio of milk blended to make a very tasty post workout shake.
Nutrition: In terms of macros, I’m finding the good quality brands more or less offer the same in terms of P:C:F ratio. ON was good, though. So met every expectation in that regard.
Summary:
A decent protein blend with a good enough taste to keep me using it. Well worth purchasing, has given me good results in terms of fat loss and muscle recovery, and I’m pleased with it overall.
