These new type of hanging files from the market leader Rexel, are the next generation which will last much longer than the older cardboard type of old. They are much sturdier as they’re made from polypropylene. The hang well on the filing cabinet runners and have a good capacity.
Price wise, boy are these expensive, but they will last your working life, so worth it 8n the long run, just a bit of a large outlay in the beginning. Four stars overall from me, just due to the price point.
These come in a cardboard box that isn’t really up to the job of protecting the contents.
Having used Rexel filing systems in the past I can say that these are up to their excellent standard. The price of this product fluctuates wildly, but Amazon tends to be the lowest.
They are very wellmade, sturdy non-gloss smooth plastic. Documents slide in and out easily, so they are very nice to use and no hassle. The plastic does not smell. They are quite stiff, but not completely rigid, so they won’t damage the contents when fully loaded.
The crystal tabs/inserts work perfectly, and the files move easily. You get access to the Rexel website so you can print out the inserts as labels.
Overall, this is a simple item that will last many years of daily use. I would always recommend these over the cheaper card products, which are prone to tearing over time.
The clips are really sturdy and won’t break easily. They cost more, but look like they’ll last longer than the cheap ones. They also grip the file runners really tight & don’t slide all over the place.
I’m reviewing Rexel Foolscap Heavy Duty Suspension Files with Tabs and Inserts for Filing Cabinets, 30 mm base, Polypropylene, Green, Crystalfile Extra, Pack of 25, 70631 — I find them very heavy duty as they should be, and really like that they are made of a firm, flexible type of plastic (polypropylene). Look like the old-fashioned green ones, but made to last a lot longer because they do not tear.
This review is for a pack of 25 Extra Foolscap Suspension Files (in green) suitable for work or for the home office. Each file will take 300 foolscap sheets of 80gsm paper filed landscape.
The files are made from sturdy polypropylene and I love the fact that they are square bottomed rather than V shaped, this means that they will hold more papers and also the problem of papers slipping down into a curved shape which I personally find really annoying, is eliminated. Also being made from polypropylene means that they have a wipe clean surface and I can see that these files are likely to last ten times longer than the manila cardboard files of the same ilk.
We have a small single row tambour unit in our home office and these files fit perfectly. The tabs fit securely onto the side of the files and are angled upwards for ease of label reading.
Price wise I feel that these files are overpriced at 87.48 (price correct at the time of this review) but as for the quality of these files I can’t fault them. I am still happy to recommend these files as they are a good investment.
Whether you use the lateral or vertical suspension file system is a matter of preference — and space (the lateral file cabinets for obvious reasons tend to be wide rather than deep as the files are hung side-by-side and not in front or behind other files).
Drawer hanging files/ vertical suspension files normally run front-to-back in a drawer cabinet. They are always accessed from above and therefore the indexing tab is on the top edge to label the file. These particular files are supplied with the standard small tab and insert paper, which works well and is seen from the front/above.
These files are made from polypropylene and are strong and will likely last longer than Manilla/cardboard suspension files. They are standard-sized Foolscap and can be used in most filing cabinets with suspension filing systems. There is a number of different types of colours for the plastic files. This green colour is pretty standard.
I do think that the price is excessive, but other than that I can’t fault them.
Do make sure you check the mm size and type of the files, so you get what you need. V-base suspension files are compact files that can hold a maximum thickness of 15mm of documents per file. Those files can be used in filing cabinets that use a suspension filing system and are great for short contracts or small brochures.
Square base suspension files (like these) are designed to hold more documents per file and come in 30mm (like these) and 50mm capacity sizes. The bottom of these files is strong, so thicker and heavier documents can be filed securely.
These are great, sturdy filing slings, the larger, flat base variety will accommodate a few sheets, a small file, or many sheets, or a larger file, so I dont see anything to recommend smaller varieties over these. The metal struts are strong, sturdy and the paper does not tear away from them easily, the metal struts do not bow or bend easily too, unless over loaded for a long time with no neighbouring file sling to rest against. This is consistent across all the supplied slings within and single consignment, they are all designed the same and of the same quality. The material of the sling itself are paper and can be written on with pen or permanent marker.
The larger number of slings supplied in this packaging mean that they are supplied in a folded cardboard box as opposed to shrink wrapped in plastic. The plastic tabs which clip on and off the sling, paper inserts for use with the plastic tabs which clip on and off the sling, these are all of a similar good quality too and do not easily break upon placing or removing or replacing. Recommended. No hesitation.
Expensive but superior to cardboard and more suitable to heavy use. Delivery was as promised. We use these in our office as they are worth the extra compared to the cheaper products.
