It seems ok, but it comes with a cable which is not a standard USB connection, it doesn’t fit the old Samsung charger and you have to buy the new Samsung charger as an extra.
As a moderate user and non gamer this tablet is a bargain priced truly useful everyday tool. Great sharp visuals and good sound for the price. Haven’t yet used the DEX facility which will be useful for a fuller computer experience so, I cannot provide a review.
I’d say love it but in the past tense let me explain.. bought for my asd non verbal son very quick tablet good size battery lasted so well now all it does is nothing 3 weeks on we found out an ultimate flaw with this product…. it doesn’t float and it doesn’t like being thrown in a meter deep pool now broken will I buy again .. totally will but will get it arm bands and a nose peg…. that’s the tablet not my so
Love this tablet which is a upgrade from my old one which still works fine but the quality is so much better and faster, crisp resolution . I’ll just keep my faithful earlier model has spare.
The description here is not clear that this is only a WiFi not the 5g version. There is misleading text in the notes that say the + is 5g but what is meant is that there is a 5g version.
As a tablet is great. Fast and very clear screen.
Powerful enough to play games on and the battery life seems better than the last generation. The speakers are better positioned so it also sounds better too. Built in storage being much bigger helps as everything seems to take more space these days.
Having never had a Samsung tablet before, was a little weary of it, but since buying and giving it to my wife, she’s over the moon, and doesn’t miss her iPad one bi
I am really enjoying using my new Samsung Galaxy A9 Tablet. It has loads of features, all of which are explained in the downloadable instruction manual, although videos on Youtube were a lot more helpful. Normally the tablet is quite fast to boot up, although on one occasion so far, it took at least two minutes to come on. I use the tablet to time my workouts, watch Youtube clips, check email, etc. I haven’t tried to make phone calls on it yet but that is definitely on my list. I guess what isn’t completely clear to me, even with reading the manual and watching Youtube videos, is how to set up guest accounts without guests having access to the administrator pages and applications. I’ll just have to find the right video that explains the process more clearly. Overall, I am enjoying the huge array of functions on the A9. It’s pretty much like a mini laptop.
I needed a replacement for an earlier Samsung model which was showing its age. This turned out to be a good choice, as my knowledge gained from using the old one came into its own when setting up the new tablet, since there were no written instructions included, and I could only access the manual on the tablet once I had finished setting it up. It was a pleasant surprise to find that during set up I was able to link the tablet to my Samsung phone, transferring information between the two. The tablet came with a USB-C to USB-C cable but no plug, so it was fortunate that my phone cable was also USB-C at one end so I could use it with its plug to charge up the tablet once it ran out of juice. I have since bought a separate plug for the tablet. So far I have not encountered any problems with the tablet. Connections to wifi, bluetooth earplugs, etc have been smooth. I have also been able to transfer some of my music collection to the tablet from my PC by using my phone cable, which has the right USB connection to plug into the ports on both devices. Overall very pleased so far.
This is a super budget Android 14 yet premium brand tablet in 2024. Adding a 512GB Samsung SDXC card (40) & Logitech Pebble 2 KB/mouse combo (65) with a stand up case (15) turned into my grab and go travel media and workstation (The pebble KB/Mouse makes a surprisingly good Android workhorse). Sound is decent (4 speakers built-in) with excellent stereo effects. Streams Netflix and other media very well on wifi too. For the price (Under 180 Feb 2024) and a total of just under 300 with all the extras it is a complete revelation in budget versatility. Despite loading many apps the 4GB memory limit hasn’t been an issue, & the 512GB card holds a good media library/ document store for when there is no internet connection. Great battery life too. Samsung’s Android UI doesn’t have too many restrictions compared to some other manufacturers. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Great device for a good price. Sound is really good and found it to be quick and easy to use. I’m not a tech person at all and mainly use my phone for everything. This is perfect for my needs.
The performance is better than I expected, you do get the occasional lag but for the most part you don’t notice.
Everything about the tablet is typical Samsung a lot of bloatware but does everything very well.
The screen display is quite good and responsive, however I feel that the touch screen element could be better as some touches do not always respond and keystrokes get missed. (My only criticism)
It would have been nice to have in settings a “Touch Sensitivity” setting which would probably help especially if you use a screen protector.
Battery life is pretty good, it lasts me all day and evening for browsing, music, audio books and youtube videos with occasional film. Device care is telling me a full charge lasts around 1 Day and 17 hours.
Mine has 8gb ram and performs beautifully, I think the 4gb version would maybe struggle with some lagging as about 4gb ram is always in use on mine.
Would I buy it again, yes indeed as it is excellent value and an impressive small tablet which does most things very well.
Have added a 1TB microsd card to store a lot of music and film, this also performs very well and currently has around 430GB stored on the card without issue.
Great tablet for low price and lovely design. Resolution is good and loads on inbuilt storage, plus you can upgrade via cards. Controls are on point and swiftly loads up applications. Only thing I will say negatively is that the boot up time is lengthy. Apart from that it’s of robust quality and design. Great for kids.
Let’s be honest, there aren’t any real competitors to the iPad Mini. Fire HD 8, Lenovo M8/M9 and the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 are the only cheaper Android-based alternatives. Still, I chose the A9 and it is decent for streaming and internet usage.
Pros:
-Wonderful size. Very lightweight.
-Decent Helio G99 chip. Allows for comfortable browsing
-Good battery
-Streaming quality is good despite not being full HD
Cons:
-Low resolution is noticeable particularly when you switch back and forth from your phone
-Screen colours are slightly washed out however after a few minutes, your eyes will adjust (until you look at your phone again)
I have not used it for gaming and don’t intend to although it’s supposed to perform decently.
Overall it’s a great device to use alongside your main tablet/phone. Just don’t expect to do any editing/compiling on it.
I had been looking around for quite some time for an Android tablet of this size and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 8.7 2023 ticked all the boxes. I mainly chose this tablet because of its size and decent specifications. Apart from being a backup for my main tablet I have also downloaded all my photographs and music collections but most of all I am using it as an e-reader for my book collections. So that together with emails and social media files I have everything to hand. This is the first Samsung tablet that I have owned and it certainly won’t be the last. Transferring files to it was a breaze and ran very smoothly without a single problem. I chose the tablet with 128gb of storage and with the Graphite colour. It’s certainly great for travel purposes being light in weight and compact. The screen resolution is quite good and the sound reproduction has not been compromised with two speakers. The front and rear cameras have 8mp and 2mp respectively and are suffient for my requirements. So far the battery life has lived up to expectations. The only slight niggle, so petty that I did not knock a star off, is that the provided cable is USB C to USB C and an adapter was not provided. I consider that it has been retailed at a reasonable price and I hope to have many years of use from it.
