Really useful one, I don’t know why they stop selling laptops with CD player, this one is so easy to use just plug it to your device and put your DVD or Cd it will work. Recommend purchase.

As someone who refuses to throw away her old DVDs and CDs this was just what I needed to be able to watch some of my favorites movies and download my music directly to my laptop. Now I just need to find a way to hook up a VCR for all my old Disney cassettes.

I’m a Mac user with a beautiful iMac that does not include a CD/DVD drive. I plugged this puppy in to the USB port, put in a DVD and presto! Excellent video! Thank you so much. Now I don’t have to worry when my friends stop by for dinner and a movie!!!!

I ordered this to have for my laptops, since as with most new ones, they don’t have a disk drive. When traveling in the car without internet access it’s easier to watch a DVD on the bigger screen than the small screen of my phone. I like that it has 2 different USB options for hook up. And I love that the cable is connected directly to the drive and wraps into the bottom for storage. That’s very convenient. I had problems hooking this up to my windows based laptop and I’m not sure why. I couldn’t get the movie to just play. I actually couldn’t even get the DVD control page to come up. But once I plugged it in to my MacBook it whirled right to life and the DVD started playing. It’s very quiet, you don’t even hear it spinning. It’s a sleek design and super light weight. The little rubber feet on the bottom will keep it in place on your desk and the color is nice. The top has a bit of a textured feel to it. This will definitely come in handy for my MacBook and I’ll play around with my windows laptop and see if I can get it to eventually work with that one too.

I didn’t realize how hard these were to find, until I had a photo CD I wanted to load! NONE of my laptops have a CD or DVD drive! I had to dig out an old desktop from like 2012 to do that. This is WAY more convenient. It’s slow to start, takes about 30 seconds to get the media spinning so it can read it. Once it gets going it does everything it says – it can read cds, DVDs, and burn them. The brushed finish makes it look nicer too. It doesn’t take up much space, so I just keep it next to where I dock my laptop. Definitely a must-have since there is no way to read cds on computers anymore.

It burns them a little slowly, but as someone who grew up in the 90s I must say it is faster than the CD burners back then. The CDs I burned (felt so fun to make a mix cd, and I had like no idea where to even download music nowadays lol!) played just fine with no glitches or skipping.

This drive support for a wide range of formats including BD, CD, DVD, and RW, it caters to all my optical media needs, very happy with it. plus, data transfer rates are lightning-fast, during the process, I did not remark any noticeable lag or buffering.

This drive comes with impressive capabilities. it offers a larger storage capacity and faster reading and recording speeds compared to standard DVD drives, very useful for my data storage and backup. With Blu-ray reading speeds reaching up to 6x, DVDs up to 8x. and I also appreciate its wide compatibility with various operating systems, including my old version Windows XP/7. highly recommend for media playback or burning discs.

My Alienware laptop annoyingly doesn’t have a DVD drive. This drive requires no additional software to run. So easy to set up. I can now watch DVDs on my Alienware! Very happy.

    Works as expected
My old external DVD drive would whirr for a couple of minutes before playing a DVD or starting an installation from a software disk, so this BluRay DVD drive is a welcome change as it fires up much more quickly.
It seems to work only on a USB 3 slot for me, but please note, I think I may have a problem with my USB 2 slot on my PC case, as the same thing happens with two other, older old drives, so I do not think it is a fault of this unit.
This drive has a short cable, neatly stowed underneath, with a splitter, so it can be used via USB A or USB C port.
Anyway, from the USB 3 port, it started up withing seconds, and I used the free ‘DVD Player’ app from Windows store to play some DVDs, which all ran without any problem.
Also note, you need your own software to play or burn DVDs, there is none supplied, but it is easy enough to find and download a free DVD player.
This unit seems comparable to others out there, it’s good to finally be able to play BluRay discs on my PC, and although I mostly download my software these days, I still need one of these external drives handy as I no longer have a built in drive on my PC, and I still have some games and office software on discs.

The Yaeonku External Blu-Ray Drive connects using USB Type A or C connector and no additional power or drive required. The cable is tucked neatly in the base of the Drive.
It’s a compact design that connects to either laptop or desktop. It reads and writes DVD/CDs though it needs separate software to do this. It works well with Windows 11 but I haven’t tested it in Mac or Linex.
It’s a quality product at a good price.

i do not have a portable blu-ray drive, so I grabbed the Yaeonku External Blu-ray Drive to replace my existing dvdrw portable. In the box you get a manual, the blu ray drive and that is about it. The cable itself is built in to the drive, suprisingly it has usb-c connection on it as well as a usb 3 connector.

My first attempt at connecting the blu ray drive didnt work, my keyboard must have a pass through usb 2.0 port, which doesnt supply enough power to run the blu ray drive. This unit requires a 3.0 usb socket or a usb-c port to power the device. (luckily it states this in the manual).

Drive feels solid, I have no issues burning a standard dvd, playing dvds was easy, same as blu-rays. The drive doesnt come with any dvd software, but most people have some way to play/burn them anyway.

Great dvd/blu-ray/player and dvd burner. the unit instructions were a bit vague on blu ray burning ability on these models (says some do not support that function). I dont have any blu ray rw disk so could not test the theory myself. but dvds burned/worked just fine.

Great little player for both dvds and blu-rays, 3 in one device to make your backpack lighter. Only thing was the cable is super short for the drive connector, requires usb 3/usb-c power to work properly.

A compact external Blu-Ray writer drive, with built in USB 3 and Type C lead. The extra Blu-Ray function compared to DVD/CD Writers can be ascertained from the additional smaller laser lens. No case is supplied, for most users this would not be an issue, as due to its small dimensions can easily fit into a laptop bag.

Initial use on two different high specification desktop computers using front USB ports was disappointing. On one the writer was not detected at all; the other was sporadic with Windows 10 loading and dropping the driver every few seconds. This could well be the experience for many purchasers, but the author being somewhat of a computer geek undertook trials to troubleshoot.

It appears that the problem for both was not enough USB power from the computer’s front ports. Connecting to a powered USB hub solved the issue for both computers — and would also be a solution should this issue arise for notebooks. Also had success with using the computers rear USB 3.0 ports (from a more powerful USB bus), but this was impractical in use due to the short-attached USB lead to the Blu-Ray Writer drive.

Personally, for desk top computer & larger laptop use, would have preferred a socket output on this Blu-ray drive and separate longer USB lead. A possible workaround is to use a USB 3 extension lead, and would suggest of good quality and as short as possible (i.e. 0.5 M).

Also tried this drive on two notebooks, one a diminutive Acer E11, the other a Lenovo Thinkpad. For both this product was immediately recognised by Windows 10, worked well, and operated well even just on battery power. The short-attached lead ergonomically made more sense on the smaller notebooks; albeit larger laptops may require a short extension to locate drive to required side.

The supplied instruction book is to be honest, poorly written in ‘Chinese English’, and generic, with some information not relevant to this particular Blu-ray Drive. For example, reference is made to the use of a separate power lead if USB power issues encountered (as detailed above) — this drive simply hasn’t got one; power reliance is on one USB lead.

This drive in use was fine, and was impressed with its sheer versatility. Successfully playing DVDs, DVD Data, Audio CDs, CD-ROM, and Blu-Ray disks. Albeit for Blu-Ray commercial releases software such as PowerDVD is required. As a writer, this product successfully burnt to CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray disks (including BD-RE rewritable). Writing speed not quite as fast as experienced with internal drives, but fine for an external burner.

For more unusual legacy formats: – This drive was not able to read HD-DVDs; and for SACD Audio disks could only read the CD layer – to be fair have not encountered any computer drive that can do either. DVD Audio could be read, albeit would need separate software to play.

Overall, this Blu-Ray burner proved versatile, well built, with a useful compact size. A star dropped for the short-attached lead, some USB power issues, and poor instruction book; otherwise fully recommend this external Blu-Ray player.
